  1. I am going to assume that you live in the US. On a budget of 500 dollars you wont be playing GTA V on high settings. You should buy used.
  2. So I just purchased my first build. It was a low budget build starring the AMD Athlon 860K. I'm looking over to the Intel side, and Skylake looks super attractive. Did I make a mistake? Should I have picked up a Pentium G4400 - Would have given me access to DDR4 RAM aswell as an easy upgrade path. So did I screw myself? Is AMD planning to release any new processors on the FM2+ platform that could compete in price and performance to something like an i5 6400?
  3. I can't buy just the 7870...
  4. So i'm looking to pull the trigger today on a PC, but i'm still not sure if I should go with used or not. So my budget is 3400 SEK - I'm buying in sweden. I'm looking to game, right now at 1366x768 (it's the monitor that I have right now, but upgrading to a 1080p monitor during the summer). I don't need any peripherals or an OS. NEW BUILD - prices are from www.prisjakt.nu CPU: Intel Pentium G4400 @3.3GHz - 639:- Motherboard: Asus H110M-K - 599:- RAM: Kingston HyperX DDR4 2133MHz - 199:- GPU: Sapphire Radeon R7 260X (1GB) - 1149:- Case: BitFenix Comrade - 390:- HDD: I own a 320GB Seagate Barracuda - So I am fine there. PSU: Cooler Master B500 V2 469:- Total: 3445:- USED BUILD CPU: Intel i3 3220 @3.3GHz Motherboard: B75MA (Don't really have any more information on the motherboard, but since it's a locked motherboard I am not too bothered) RAM: 8GB 1333MHz GPU: Radeon HD 7870 CASE & PSU Not sure what they are. HDD: 500GB Western Digital Caviar Total: 2800:- So there are obvious pros and cons. The Skylake build is better for upgrading in the future, but sacrificing alot of power that the 7870 brings right now. What should I go for? Can you improve my new build in any way?
  5. So for my 3000 Swedish crown budget I'm looking around at some used builds, not sure how viable something like this would be nowadays. I feel like the CPU is OK, even as a dual core, but the GPU I feel like needs an upgrade. Just off the top of my head. CPU: i3 3220 @3.30Ghz RAM: 2x4GB DDR3 @665MHz (9-9-9-24) (this means it's effectively at 1333mhz correct?) Motherboard: MSI B75MA-S01 GPU: XFX Radeon HD 7800 2GB HDD: 465GB Western Digital Case and psu: not sure, but here is the low resolution image of the case. This build comes with a 1920x1080 60hz monitor for 2800 crowns. Is it a viable gaming build now? The most intensive game I own is tomb raider 2013. Last question: let us assume that the PSU isn't super sketchy and I can use it for now. What is my upgrade path? I'm assuming an SSD and GPU. Thank you for any help you can give me on this.
  6. Is getting a used Q6600 still decent for a cheap gaming system? If so, what would be a decent card to pair up with it? I would have to get a new PSU, but in total with an R7 370 it would cost around 250 dollars. Worth it?
  7. http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/HH4HxY That case is there because I can pick it up for cheap. This build would be paired up with a used 960, or a R7 370. I will wait for the RX470 or 460 benchmarks. Good enough for a budget build? Or is it worth to shell out a little bit more for an i3 6100. I would be upgrading to an i5 6500, and a different gpu down the line.
  8. Sorry, wasn't being clear, 300 would be my total budget, just saying the main components of what I was looking for. Both those used pcs have everything I need for 300.
  9. Well since my budget is around 300, for new I think I would be running with the i3 6100 with Intel HD graphics, and then in a month or two get like a rx470 I think. So im looking old. Found someone selling i7 950 with a 6990, very old but decently. Or my personal favourite, but I haven't heard back from him, a 4460 with a 960. Those two for just under 300. But I'd you can mock up a build for me that would be helpful! edit: quoted the wrong person

  11. Would this even hold up as a gaming rig in today's standards? CPU: XEON E5504 clocked @2.4GHz Motherboard: Gigabyte X58 UD3R 1356 RAM: 18g DDR3 ECC RDimm (i guess at 1333mhz speed?) GPU: Radeon HD5770 PSU: Fractal Design 650w Case: Fractal Design r5 So my question is, will it hold up. In a gaming scenario now a days? The CPU is overclocked at 2.4ghz. Its advertised as a workstation for around 300usd. Could I just upgrade the GPU and have a decent gaming build?
  12. So if I can see that the system boots it's good? No way to be sure if it was mined on right? Just rolling the dice on second hand systems. I can always ask, but the answer will probably be no. If I go ahead and I see that the system works fine, what would be my path of upgrade? Literally all of the hardware is old, but where to start? SSD? Motherboard/CPU/RAM? GPU? Considering the Case being from Fractal and the PSU being, albeit super overkill they are fine right.
  13. So I found what I think is a little gem. But when buying secondhand items, their may be drawbacks. Is there any obvious way to tell if the system has been used for cryptocurrency mining? Anyway, I found a older gaming system being sold here in Sweden, here are the specs: CPU: Core i7 950 @3,06GHz CPU Cooler: Corsair cooling hydro H70 (Is there any downsides to on old liquid cooled machine?) Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD5 RAM: 8GB DDR3 (Right now I have no more specifications of the brand or speed, I am going to assume 660Mhz. Would I need to upgrade the RAM if that is the case?) GPU: XFX Radeon HD6990 4GB Case: Fractal Design (not sure what case, because this is the only thing I have here, though he did say it was a case optimized for overclocking). HDD: Samsung 1TB SATA-2 (Is this bad? I have a 320GB Seagate Barracuda I could use otherwise) PSU: Corsair AX850W So all of this for the mere price of 312 USD (Converted to make it easier for most). From my knowledge and what I know this seems like a really good for the price, and with the 850W PSU I could even pick up a second HD6990 for cheap and run it in crossfire right? Would that make a good system for a little over 400 dollars? Thanks for any help!
  14. So this is a rig I have been working on for a while now, hope you guys like it! Parts list: CASE: So because this rig is open air cooled, for unspecified reasons, I have decided to use the case for USB inputs, which permits me to have this fantastic cable management. Even if you wanted to pick up this case, you cannot because it is directly from NASA, and you need Google Chrome Ultron to order it. MOTHERBOARD: The top of the line, 775 motherboard ASUS G41T-AD V1.0. This motherboard comes with a plethora of incredible features, such as USB 2.0, PS2, Ethernet and much much more, anything anyone will ever need for years to come. CPU: Intel Celeron 450. This beast with its single super hyper mega threaded core, and its incredible 2.2Ghz, allows for an optimal experience when the PC is idling at the desktop, the CPU is amazing at handling no tasks at all and if you even so want to open Google Chrome, you will have to use the Ultron version straight from NASA for it to even run. GPU: This top of the line GeForce 6600 boasts an insane 256MB of vRAM, plenty of it to power on the incredible amount of pixels my 1366x768 monitor to play top of the line games, such as minesweeper and DOOM 3 (It's an amazing game btw, super surprised this graphics card can run a 2016 game). It's also passively cooled for optimal silent gaming, and offers the option of open air PC, because it doesn't fit in the damn case, even with my super good modding job (check the picture see if you can spot it). PSU: Chicony 220W 80+ Tungsten rating preforms amazingly, it sure as hell will not blow up, or catch fire and kill all your hardware at some point. Highly Recommended. RAM: An incredible 3GB of lightning fast 1333Mhz DDR2 memory, that comes straight from the Samsung HQ in Korea (the north one), unreleased unlocked super amazing RAM that none of you will ever get your hands on. HDD: A MASSIVE 320GB of storage in this 7200 RPM Seagate Barracuda. This provides me with almost on par SSD boot times. WIRLESS CARD: So this motherboard pretty much has every feature in the world, but I decided to add my own Wireless card because why not. I hope you all don't die with envy of my super build. So in all honesty, my laptop broke like a month ago, and I just finished school, using this rig for a whole month. It was an E-machine in my garage, and I found an old 6600 that I could hook up with it. I ended up just utilizing the onboard graphics on my celeron 450, because of Windows 10 Drivers issues. It was horrible to use, especially for someone who has a month to go in high school, I ended up just staying in school until like 7PM to use their computers instead. I hope you all had a good laugh, it was actually kinda fun to put this thing together, I did try gaming on it, I ended up running Morrowind on it, and it played the game at 20-30FPS on decently high detail settings. P.S: I didn't buy a new computer cause i'm poor.
