I had an MSI board and for me it was a bit of a nightmare the software was buggy and bios was a bit of a nightmare to navigate. That said my gigabyte board probably takes the cake for the most annoying software and experience maybe it's just AMD boards but I haven't found anything that just kinda works y'know. Might try an EVGA or an asrock out next.

Asus X570 Dark Hero or the EVGA dark and other TOTL boards. The X570 dark hero demands upper mid range price while having a serious VRM setup.

Did you remove the film from the bottom of the cooler that contacts the CPU? common easily made mistake.

You should be able to feel a faint vibration on the cpu block if the pump is running.

would mostly likely need TIM like graphene or similar. I would imagine that watercooling probably won't decrease temps as much as just a heatsink with fan. And I would also imagine the copper surfaces and TIM would become scratched or damage over time without a protective cover. However it's a novel idea.

if you are upgrading ram in a laptop without a HK class CPU make sure it's speed and CL timings are JEDEC and not XMP as laptops without a HK CPU such as yours do not support overclocking and thus do not support XMP. buying XMP only RAM will most likely result in it running a lot slower than expected e.g. 2400MHz. I believe 3200 CL22 is about the best you can get for SODIMM systems. However than doesn't guarantee compatibility so, it's best to order off of retailers with a strong returns policy such as amazon in case it is not compatible.

okay that Clarifies E7-4800v2 series which I am thankful for but not the E5-4600v2 series. I feel like this may be a wild goose chase haha. Seems like intel in their infinite wisdom have over complicated simple things again.

Huh. Weird. According to HP, your laptop doesn't exist in the parts database. The only thing I can find online is a product datasheet.
    http://h20195.www2.hp.com/v2/GetDocument.aspx?docname=c05336780&doctype=data sheet&doclang=EN_GB&searchquery=&cc=uk&lc=en

What country did you buy it in, and was it part of some kind of bundle deal with a printer or monitor?
Edit: it appears it came with a 17" HP monitor, at least according to the associated product numbers.

There is a similar model that I can get part numbers for though: 15-ba043wm

That's correct - I was looking for a similar PN/model with the 1080p screen option so you could just straight up order the part for it either direct from HP, or eBay, and know that it's compatible. Unfortunately I can't do that if it's not in the database.

I'd take your laptop apart, and see if you can cross-reference the part number on the back of the screen itself to find a 1080p version.

It will absolutely work as long as you find a screen that has a compatible control board using the same connector, and obviously that fits physically in the laptop screen frame. You'd need to do some sleuthing to figure this out though.

However, I might be able to help if you can provide me with the PN and SN from the sticker on the bottom of the laptop, possibly located under the battery area.

DigitalDoofus got a reaction from Electronics Wizardy in I'm new to Linux and would like to dual boot with Windows 10
Hi everyone, I've recently wondered about trying out Linux but don't have a lot of prior experience the closest I've really come to Linux was setting up a basic server on raspberry PI along time ago, I am choosing to use a KDE based manjaro distro for my initial introduction into Linux but I don't want to replace my windows install just in case I'm in other my head and need my windows install back, I tried to dual boot with Linux mint before and I messed it up so the Initial boot menu didn't offer anything so I basically bricked my PC (Noob mistake), One thing that I would really like to do is run both at the same time allowing me to live swap between Linux and windows I have a memory of someone showing me a mac running windows that could swap between mac os and windows on the fly, Is this possible with Linux manjaro and windows 10? I have 8GB of ram and an 8 Core at my disposal for this, If not whats the best boot loader that isn't gonna brick my PC.

Another thing I have an SSD and an unused 2TB HDD in my PC and I've heard that windows and Linux can cause conflicts when present on the same DISK, Is there any truth to this or is this just a myth?

Thanks for any input in advance ~LazyChaz

maybe I should setup my PC so the DVD drive is positioned in such a way that when it is opened via eject it pushes the laptop out of the window and let him remote desktop to that its a win win.
