  1. Everyone should have at least one ssd for their OS and drivers. Maybe one or two games but mainly to boot up and generally make using the pc just a bit faster. Though an SSD shouldn't replace the standard HDDs. They should complement it. By taking the OS and drivers off the HDD and leaving the HDD for mass storage. For those that win. Good for you. For those who don't. Continue on like normal.
  2. I didn't ask what intel crap is better. I was asking if the FX-8350 would be an upgrade from my old Phenom II. Intel fanboys are just like god damn hipsters with their stupid iphones. If you don't have the latest model then you are a wanna be. That's how I see intel. It takes time to develop new cpu architecture. And if it takes a decade to make sure their newest one is going to last. Then let them take their time. I won't go out and buy the new Zen cpu. I will wait till next year after the hype dies off. That's when I'll build a brand new rig. Right now. I don't have the funds to switch. I do not care to switch to the hipsters. I just don't give a cent about intel. I personally will not conciously buy intel. I will only use it if someone gifts me an intel rig. Till then I will stick with what's been a tank for years for me.
  3. Maybe you didn't understand my post. I do not have the funds to switch to intel. No would I want to. I do not like intel. My first computer even though it was a laptop I won at my high schools all nighter party after graduation was powered by intel. That computer was a pile of garbage. One problem after another. It broke a month after I got it. So yea....sold that pos and got myself a Toshiba L505 Satellite laptip powered by amd. Since then I've stuck with something reliable and won't cost me an arm and leg to replace.
  4. Hi, I'm DarkDragoon. I have an Asrock 990FX Extreme3 mother board, AMD Phenom II x4 970 3.5GHz cpu, Gigabyte R9 270X gpu, and a Corsair CX750M psu all wrapped up in a Cool Master Storm Scout case. I am going to do some upgrading to my rig as the cpu is been in this rig in it's lifetime for about 5 or 6 years now. It's an old cpu. It's served me well but I thought it would be time to replace it with a newer cpu. I don't have the money to toss away on intel products nor would I want to. AMD has been a sturdy reliable company for me so I decided to stick with AMD. After all, why just switch over to another brand just cause someone says it's better. Despite showing benchmarks but not explaining what rig they used and how close it came to both rigs having nearly identical components. A good fanboy will find a way to scew the tests into his favor. Anyways I digress and get back to the point of this thread. I plan on upgrading to the AMD FX-8350 x8 4GHz (4.2GHz turbo) cpu as that's the highest cpu supported by my motherboard. I don't plan on rushing out to buy the new AMD cpu when it's released later this year. I didn't buy the xbox 360 when it was released. I won't buy the new shiny must have cpu on the market. So when another year rolls around. I might just build a brand new rig from scratch instead of using the same parts from my last rig. I'm also going to upgrade my R9 270X to the R9 390. The 390 has 8GB of ram. 6GBs more then my 270x. I am also replacing my case for the CM Storm Scout 2 Advanced. Do you think the FX-8350 and the R9 390 are worthy upgrades to my Phenom II 970 and R9 270X?
  5. I'm just trying to keep a little above what I think my system is going to need versus what my psu can give. So in theory I should be able to run my system with one 390 of any brand and my psu won't decided that it can't put out anymore and cause issues, possibly damage, to my components because it can't supply them with proper power.
  6. InfernalSurge....you are real angry. We are trying to help but with only with your initial information supplied and no follow up information to see what's going on. So like don_svetilo said. You might want to contact your graphics card manufacture and RMA your card. It seems like he said, "You should fix your software or RMA your card. I'm betting more on a corrupt installation caused by improper configuration." Your software is bad or your card fan controller on the card itself is bad. It could also be your fan. It could not be accepting the commands the fan controller is telling it. Thus a bad fan and thus you should use your warranty to get it replaced at low or no cost to you.
  7. Well the Sapphire R9 Nitro 390 requires a 750W psu minimum. I do have a 750w. My budget is already tied so I think with Gigabyte with it's recommended 600W PSU. Could go with the cheaper XFX verson which goes for about $305. (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150729) Not including the rebate card which I don't understand why they don't just apply it automatically during checkout.
  8. Dude...your gpu is fine. Like others have said before. Modern gpu's will shut down at a certain point to prevent damage. It's not good to run it at that temp for LONG periods of times. Not a little over an hour and a half long over a couple days. I will advise anyone that is like this guy who didn't see what people with more experience keep telling you about UNCHECKING AUTO. Is that NEVER run auto. Either set a curve so at certain temps correspond to certain fan speed. Or have it set to a certain speed for constant and consistent temp control. One way works for some. Another for others. Find a way that works for you. Ask for help and take the time to listen instead of dismissing it because you got butt hurt.
  9. My original choice for an AMD R9 390 was a gigabyte version. (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125792&cm_re=GIGABYTE_Radeon_R9_390_DirectX_12_GV-R939G1-_-14-125-792-_-Product). I am planning on upgrading (hopefully) to replace my Gigabyte R9 270X which I can't get a second one brand new from newegg and buying one on ebay or other sites is dodgy at best. Which brand is going to give me more bang for my buck? Asus? XFX? MSI? To be honest, I have distrust with Asus gpus. I had an Asus HD 7770 and it worked fine....for a while...then for no reason. Started to do weird things. Like BSoD....among other things. So I called Asus, had to call them multiple times to get them to send me the RMA and shipping label. Waited two weeks to hear back from them while relying on my old but dependable Gigabyte HD 5770. They did testing at their facility for less then an hour. An hour! It could go for hours before doing it's thing. They sent it back instead of just out right replacing it. So I sold it after I couldn't take it anymore that I had a $150 (At the time it might have been more in 2013.) useless gpu as a paper weight. Sold it to someone who said it worked for him as I told him exactly why I was selling it and told him that if it acted up on him that I would take it back and refund him the money he paid me. It worked for him so meh. So....Asus...good looking stuff. Horrible customer service. If at all possible to avoid Asus. I'll avoid them but if they can give me the best performance for my price range. Then I'd consider giving them a try.
  10. Well I think I will keep my 270X for now. As it frees up 320 of my budget. I'll get me a new cpu, new case, fan controller, a new monitor, and 4 new fans. So long as my mobo doesn't decided to take a dump on me. I'll upgrade my psu and gpu later down the pipe line.
  11. Well I got the CX750M from Best Buy. I know I know...Best Buy but I was caught in a bind. My last mobo which was a replacement for the original mobo that got fried years ago was also fried due to a surge through the cable line surprisingly enough. It didn't fry anything but the mobo and damaged my Thermaltalke 600w psu. I didn't know it at the time as I couldn't as well test it as my mobo was fried. So when I got the new parts. Did all the swapping out and installing. Then turned it on. The new mobo posted but the psu started to act up. Figuring that my noob arse did something wrong. Checked and rechecked all the cables. Then the psu started to smell funky. That made me upset. So not wanting to wait another week to order a new psu from newegg. I went online and checked for stores in my area for a new psu. My local best buy had it. So bought it though the first one was a dead product. Returned to best buy and exchanged it for the one I have now. I have a thing with most electronics. Either it works or its already broken. It's always been that way. Been using the CX750M for over a year and it's been going strong. I honestly don't see the need to replace it. The only reason I see replacing it is if I replace my mobo and go for the FX-9000 series which require a giant 220W compaired to the FX-8350's 125W which is the same power draw as my AMD Phenom II x4. As for the 390. It recommends a min psu of 600w compared to the 270x's min psu of 500w. I did the math and even with the 390. My psu has a 5w gain with the 390. I just figured that my cpu might be bottlenecking my gpu considering I only got the 270x almost a year ago.
  12. So I should just hold onto my 270x for now and use the money that would of went towards a 380/90 and upgrade my psu instead. My ram is Corsair Vengeance 1600MHz 4x4g dual channel. I'm not looking for my rig is going to completely outclass almost everyone. I just want a more stable fps rate. Hell for 320 I can upgrade to one or two newer monitors. Using an AOC 2367 and an LG EW224. I do like AOC monitors.
  13. Yea I meant the 390. And I made another mistake. It's 208 not 218. But Newegg doesn't have any in stock. It's either a 380 or 390. X models or not.
  14. Problem is that if I wanted to crossfire my 270x. Newegg doesn't have it available at the moment. It costs $220 but has a 5% off so its $218. I was thinking of either going with the R9 380. Thats $320 and it's 8gb. Or go with the 370 at $220 and it's at 4gb for memory. Which will lower my total cost of $500 for both GPU and CPU. Not including a fan controller, new 120mm fans, a new storm scout 2 Advanced case to replace my old Storm Scout case. Plus some new thermal compound. No one likes using old compound. Edit: $500 is for the 390 and fx-8350. $400 is with a 370 and FX-8350.
