luigi90210 got a reaction from Anduu in Is 1080p really terrible for 27inch displays?
this is subjective and not objective
the best thing for you to do to get this answer is to look at a 27in 1440p display next to a 27in 1080p display, i can sit here and tell you how much i love my 1080p 27in monitor and how i want to get a 34in 1080p ultrawide but all of that is my opinion, we are all different people and we see things differently, to one person 1080p on a 27in display looks terrible but 1440p looks great and to another person they can think 1440p on a 27in looks terrible and 4k looks good
best thing to do is compare them for yourself and see what you like more

i actually went from a 1070ti to a vega64(traded my friend) because of freesync, tbh both cards are basically the same when you look at average fps but in overall feel tbh i feel like my vega card is smoother and the colors tend to pop a little more, idk if im just crazy(and it might be placebo) but i have been having a better gaming experience on my vega card than i have been on my pascal card not to mention if you decide to do anything outside of gaming the vega card(i have been playing around with nick cage deepfakes) is gonna be better than the 1070ti

if you get a vega64 reference aircard make sure you flash the LC bios on it as it allows for better overclocking(seen 1700mhz overclocks) and idk how well it works for gaming but there is a registry hack you can do to increase the power limit of the card beyond 50%

i love my vega64 card but i game at 1080p 240hz+(going to get a benq zowie 240hz monitor for christmas)

when you get it i suggest using msi afterburner to undervolt the card which allows the card to run cooler, and have better overclocks
i need to look up my settings but i think i was running 1680mhz core and 1075 hbm with -93mv with my strix vega64

so upgrade in 2-3 years, no such thing as future proofing, older hardware performs worse, thats the nature of computers

see you say this now but you might change your mind in the future and now you are caught in a predicament where you need to upgrade sooner rather than later, i said the same thing 2 years ago and now i game at 144hz(gonna be getting a 240hz benq zowie here soon)

i say go big, get a used 1070ti/1080 or vega64 and call it a day

it sucks that your masterwatt was defective(kind of not really) but this isnt indicative of it being a cheap psu issue or not, its not like you killed your components with a name brand psu and posts like this just make the waters even more muddy than it needs to be
your masterwatt would have been fine and outside of the coil whine it powered your system and wouldnt have caused an issue if said coil whine didnt exist

fact of the matter is as long as you get a name brand psu with the appropriate wattage for your system you will be fine because you have a name brand company standing behind their product, its not like you bought a coolmax 1000w psu and it burnt out your system , sorry but you kind of blew this out of the water

Honestly other than the coil whine you could have just rolled with it, it is a quality PSU that could have lasted a long time.

Just an update for anyone in the same situation as me.

I went with RM 850x, which will take some time to arrive, meanwhile since the 2080 Ti had arrived, I thought I could at least safely test it with the MasterWatt. I played Crysis 3 maxed out at 4K (got ~40 fps), so on load, the masterwatt started making a horrible coil whine. I recorded the video and contacted Amazon, and told them that this item was defective, so they agreed to take it back and refund the amount.

So lesson learned, really don't cheap out on PSU, I wasn't expecting this from something having a Cooler Master name on it. Really not worth risking your expensive components. Maybe some other 80 Plus bronze PSU would've been fine, but really not worth taking chances.

Eh, it's fine. The most important parts are A) it has the capacity, and B) it's made by a reputable company, it meets both of those criteria, so, I say just roll with it. The only ways I see it hurting you is A) noise, and B) electricity costs, if that does not concern you, then you should be fine.

Well he didn't buy some cheap unknown Chinese brand so he should be fine, if all he wants is a working overpowered system. He should be fine. It still has 80+ Bronze, 750 watts of capacity, and is sold by Cooler Master. Once again he should be fine. Sure he will  lose out on some bragging rights, silence, and some power cost, but otherwise he should be fine.

    I'll see myself out now.

That being said, they do look professional and nice. Just turn the RGB LED's off. Mine had no issues supplying airflow for a 4690k with an 240mm AIO water cooler and a Strix 970.

There is a model with a solid side panel instead of glass, IIRC.

If you are looking for an x99 CPU find a J-batch CPU (long number code on the IHS starting with J), those are usually the ones that overclock best.

luigi90210 got a reaction from Hi P in RAM Compatibility - Does it matter?
its all diminishing returns, i can pay $120 for a 16gb kit of ddr4 2400mhz vs the $160 you will pay for a DDR4 3200mhz kit and that $40 can be used towards a better psu or a bigger ssd, ect.

also zen 1 was touted for having the best performance with 3200mhz ram and the fact that in my own testing and others testing on my discord server(with threadripper, zen 1 and zen+) we have all come to the conclusion that if you cant afford to spend money on 3200mhz memory, just buy anything faster than 2133mhz(mainly because 2400mhz and 2133 are the same price)

if my testing doesnt satisfy you than here is a youtuber showing their numbers which again show everything within margin or error and at most you will see maybe 5% in synthetic benchmarks between ddr4 2400 vs ddr4 3200
also i cant help it if my zen processor only runs at 4ghz, kind of a platform limitation with first gen ryzen, i would be running 4.1ghz if it didnt require a vcore of 1.475v, right now i think im happy with my 4ghz at 1.385v vcore

again i want to reiterate, im not saying buying 3200mhz memory is bad, and im not saying there is no performance gains, im saying that if you cant afford to buy 3200mhz memory, dont worry about it
