get a used 380x, shouldnt cost much more than a 380 and it will perform inline with a rx570/470

i actually went from a 1070ti to a vega64(traded my friend) because of freesync, tbh both cards are basically the same when you look at average fps but in overall feel tbh i feel like my vega card is smoother and the colors tend to pop a little more, idk if im just crazy(and it might be placebo) but i have been having a better gaming experience on my vega card than i have been on my pascal card not to mention if you decide to do anything outside of gaming the vega card(i have been playing around with nick cage deepfakes) is gonna be better than the 1070ti if you get a vega64 reference aircard make sure you flash the LC bios on it as it allows for better overclocking(seen 1700mhz overclocks) and idk how well it works for gaming but there is a registry hack you can do to increase the power limit of the card beyond 50%

i love my vega64 card but i game at 1080p 240hz+(going to get a benq zowie 240hz monitor for christmas) when you get it i suggest using msi afterburner to undervolt the card which allows the card to run cooler, and have better overclocks i need to look up my settings but i think i was running 1680mhz core and 1075 hbm with -93mv with my strix vega64

so upgrade in 2-3 years, no such thing as future proofing, older hardware performs worse, thats the nature of computers see you say this now but you might change your mind in the future and now you are caught in a predicament where you need to upgrade sooner rather than later, i said the same thing 2 years ago and now i game at 144hz(gonna be getting a 240hz benq zowie here soon) i say go big, get a used 1070ti/1080 or vega64 and call it a day

what kind of 1080p gaming? 240hz? 144hz? 60hz? what graphics settings? for 240hz you want a 1080ti(you want to eliminate a gpu bottleneck), 144hz you want at least a 1070ti/1080/vega64, and for 60hz you'll be fine with a 1060 6gb/rx580 8gb also future proofing isnt a thing, just buy whatever you can afford now and when you are looking to upgrade buy whatever you can afford then

could be a bad intake fan hitting the front of your case at a certain rpm

your 450w psu will be fine however i tend to go overkill on the psu for single card systems so there is room to upgrade id recommend getting an antec truepower or earthwatts 750w that way you can have enough room to upgrade to a vega64 card if needed and using less than what the psu asks for usually means a quieter system especially if the psu you get has a 0rpm fan mode

it sucks that your masterwatt was defective(kind of not really) but this isnt indicative of it being a cheap psu issue or not, its not like you killed your components with a name brand psu and posts like this just make the waters even more muddy than it needs to be your masterwatt would have been fine and outside of the coil whine it powered your system and wouldnt have caused an issue if said coil whine didnt exist fact of the matter is as long as you get a name brand psu with the appropriate wattage for your system you will be fine because you have a name brand company standing behind their product, its not like you bought a coolmax 1000w psu and it burnt out your system , sorry but you kind of blew this out of the water

how is the antec p7? i found it on ebay for $45, i dont think i want tempered glass and im debating on if i even want a side panel as well, like i was saying in the OP im kind of shooting for a sleeper look however i didnt want to throw this pc into an old case from the 90s i have because i dont think there will be enough fresh air for my system

this is not true, the E5 16xx v3 can be overclocked and have an unlocked multiplier just like their i7 counterparts if you want a cheap upgrade get an e5 1680 v3 QS chip, on ebay its going for $380 and its an unlocked 8core processor

his literal garbage tier motherboard(which you would have known just googling his board) is going to hold back his platform and just because something retailed for $200 doesnt mean its gonna cost $100 now that its old, no one wants these AM3+ boards just like no one wants FX cpus, you can literally find FX8350s selling for $70 and that was a $200 cpu brand new. as someone who deals with used hardware all the time i can tell you i have bought a great amount of these boards(50+) for $30-50 and it doesnt really matter which exact board he gets, most 990fx boards have pcie3 anyways, i literally just linked the first one i found on google and it will bring more performance all around with the improved north and south bridge speeds, the faster ram compatibility and the better overclocking, as it stands i would be shocked he can get 3.6ghz off his board, with a 990fx or heck even a 970a motherboard he would be able to easily get 4ghz off his processor due to the better vrm design if OP wants a better board for his platform, right now is the time to buy before the boards start shooting up in price like all old motherboards eventually start doing, and just FYI not everyone wants to buy new shit, the fact that x58 and x79 are very popular platforms for people to buy into shows that much already, your stance of "its not new so dont buy it" is terrible advice and frankly its downright dumb to say, just cause something is old doesnt mean its not worth spending some money on and someone asking to get a little bit more life out of their system isnt a dumb thing to ask

$100 where tf are you buying boards, if he looks locally he can find that board for $30-50 and its a decent upgrade for his platform, it offers higher north and south bridge speeds, faster ram speeds, better overclocking, and room to upgrade to an FX 8370 if he finds a good deal on one(which btw is still a decent gaming cpu by 2018 standards) you are a some dumb mf if you think trying to get more life out of his current system is a bad idea especially if he can find any 990fx board for cheap

that isnt true, mining for profit is still possible its just whether or not its worth it and unless you get free or really cheap electricity, it generally isnt worth it and imho it isnt worth it mining with a gaming computer now, when profits were high it was worth it to mine when you were not using the machine but now you will make less than a dollar a day with a single gpu mining rig and imho its not worth the damage associated with mining

i mean i dont really see a point still tbh, i have solar and dont pay for power and i dont see it being worth it(not with dogecoin at least), there are arguments to be made for mining monero if you dont pay for power but imho you are better off selling the mining hardware to make money, its what i did when mining started dying and i got $400 for every rx 580/480 i sold, playing the mining game is like playing stocks, you need to know when to get in, and when is the best time to pull out, if you are still mining now you are probably better off still mining as graphics card prices are terrible for resale

when you boot into bios, set your settings and save and exit, when rebooting re enter the bios and see if your settings stuck before exiting without saving

if you think its worth it than go for it, i stopped mining when the mining craze died off in february this year, i dont see a reason to start, its not really profitable anymore
