Marxtai got a reaction from burnttoastnice in Compile PHP/HTML(css&javascript) as an executable file
You could look here : http://stackoverflow.com/questions/9046675/convert-a-php-script-into-a-stand-alone-windows-executable
I haven't tried any of them though. For what reason(s) do you want to create a desktop app with PHP? It would be best to use a language like C#, VB.Net, Python, which are more appropriate for that which have a better support of desktop apps.

Marxtai reacted to Rusty_Shackleford in Removing a CPU thermal paste
Don't remove it just clean it while it's locked in there.

Marxtai reacted to Oshino Shinobu in Removing a CPU thermal paste
As long as the retention arms down, with the CPU in the board, you have pretty much no chance of bending any pins or damaging it unless you have bricks for fingers.
I'd keep it in the board, less chances of damaging things, basically. Still, be careful and clean it gently.

Marxtai reacted to Eniqmatic in Budget 1080p ITX Build ft. Phanteks Evolv ITX
Hello again!
Thought I'd sure with you all a build I did recently for a customer that I really enjoyed having a play with!
The brief was simple: a build good enough for today's 1080p games, remaining at the £400 mark. Ish.
So here is what we ended up with. Please note you probably cannot re-produce this exact build for the same money, the customer wanted to re-use the existing SSD, Corsair AIO, and Hyper-X RAM since all were fairly new and there was nothing wrong with them. The 1TB HDD was also re-used. You can probably get quite close however!
Parts list:
Core i5 4460
MSI H97I AC
MSI GTX 960 Twin Frozr
8GB Hyper-X 1866 RAM
Phanteks Enthoo Evolv ITX
Corsair H60
Crucial MX100 128GB SSD
Seagate 1TB Harddrive
EVGA Supernova 650W G1 Gold Modular PSU
Some of you may think power supply is overkill for this, however I managed to get one at a couple of pounds more than a lesser CX600M which is bronze and semi modular. This is gold and fully modular and IMO worth literally a few pounds more. The quality is excellent!
Some pictures:
Thanks for looking!

Marxtai reacted to laquine in LTT phone logo
So I work in a sign shop that does custom vinyl signs as well as plastic engraving. I had a bit of down time today and I thought it would be a great idea to do a bit of modding to my phone case.
Here are the results. Sorry for the bad quality. Using a stupid webcam to take these pics.

Marxtai reacted to colonel_mortis in Firefox Moves Away From XUL-based Addons In Favor Of WebExtentions
The addon sdk, which is what the LTT Notifier for Firefox, and a considerable number of other extensions, uses, is fairly powerful, and would almost certainly support a greasemonkey-like architecture. However, some features of it will be removed with these changes, so it looks like the LTT notifier will no longer be able to automatically inject amazon affiliate tags (or it won't be as seamless and neat as it is now, where it just injects it into the outgoing HTTP request).
Hopefully the new web extensions will be powerful enough to replace the features that are being lost (or the addon sdk is improved even more), otherwise it's not going to work out very well for Mozilla.

Marxtai got a reaction from Ceatra in Can I connect a friends desktop to mine so we get internet
If it works for laptop, then I don't see why it wouldn't work for desktops as well. Maybe all the articles mention laptops because typically desktops are connected via ethernet, and laptops have built-in Wifi adapters.

Marxtai reacted to Brandonberg in Sidepanel window WITH holes or WITHOUT hole?
Simple solution... Cover up the holes with tape to block the airflow and see how your temps go. I doubt you would have a problem. If all good you can replace the side window to a solid one.

Marxtai got a reaction from burnttoastnice in can i make a laptop?
Nope, you can "pimp" it (add more/different RAM, swap the HDD for a bigger better one or a SSD, even add an external GPU .. ) but you can't build one from scratch like a PC ... well, you probably can, but not by buying parts seperately and just fitting them in a case.

Marxtai got a reaction from Senzelian in Thoughts on a Corsair or Logitech mouse
I'd go for Logitech, I've owned many gaming and non-gaming peripherals from them and it's always worked well. I've had issues with my G27 and my mom had issues with her keyboard that stopped working, both times the support was amazing and I got replacements in just a few days, no hassle.
That being said, I have a K70 keyboard and I love it, more than the G710+ I had previously (but that's mainly because it has Blue switches, and at the time the G710 with Blue didn't exist)

Cool, I didn't know that. (it's still a 3rd party software, but at least it's not some shady software that you download only for that)
