  1. I’ve made several water cooling loops on my own and am capable of maintenance.
  2. Forgot I made this thread, thanks for the answers guys. And yes my standards are high.
  3. I hate to admit it, but I’ve grown tired of doing my own builds after 20 years of doing it myself. I just want a nice custom built pc shipped to my door and I’m willing to pay a premium to have it done. I’m not looking for a simple builder like Starforge, I want something more along the lines of a digital storm custom water cooling loop type rig. Can I get some suggestions for places to look at that are reputable and have a reasonable mark up on the cost of DIY?
  4. I’ve been waiting for this type of monitor for like 4 years and I’ve seen a lot of speculation that it won’t actually release early next year as first indicated. Is there any definitive info on the actual release date or any info a competitor coming out with something with the same specs around the same time?
  5. did a doubletake when I saw this, because I saw my (digital) face. Nice Avatar!
  6. I just don't understand why brands have to change their names every time I start to understand them.
  7. I wish this meant it will never happen, but in all likelyhood its just a delay. Makes me sad to see the state of capitalism.
  8. I think it’s probably too late to fix the damage without effecting existing projects but that doesn’t mean they shouldn’t change their stance and hiring practices for future/newer projects.
  9. Summary Blizzard Entertainment is struggling with a severe staff shortage due to ongoing workplace abuse allegations and poor leadership. The company has created a "crisis map" to determine which games can be launched with its current workforce. Employees are expressing their frustrations on Twitter, as valuable talent continues to leave the company. This issue is critical for Blizzard as it tries to maintain multiple live services and undergoes a merger with Microsoft. Quotes My thoughts Blizzard is getting in its own way, which is nothing new. As a developer myself I can't count how many times I've had issues outside of the actual project preventing me from doing my job effectively or worse - "forcing" me to look for work elsewhere. 10. short of an AIO which already exists and includes everything not just the GPU, I don't really think the idea is worth doing (although it is 100% possible). I think the modularity of computers is part of their appeal and combining parts reduces that modularity.
  11. I think (predict anyway) quantum computers will be accessed via the cloud and probably process specific things that traditional computers suck at in the long term, so it will be more of a combination of modern tech and quantum tech working in tandum that springs the information age into a "quantum age" so to speak.
  12. I didn't realize the forum was only a couple years old when I joined. It feels like something that has always been here.
  13. This is how we started with modern computers. In the beginning they could only do math, now we have smartphones. I assume a similar progression will occur in the quantum era, except I foresee progress being more explosive after an initial breakthrough.
  14. I don't have the time to bring insight into every topic in this thread, but as someone who has hopped in and out of large code bases fairly regularly I have found that bringing a new coder up to speed is never easy but the best way to do this is a combination of trivial tickets and pair programming. 1. Teach your ticketing system (I.E. JIRA) to them. 2. Walk them through a trivial ticket (like changing the text in a tooltip or something similar) 3. Observe them take a trivial ticket to completion, and if they get through it with little to no issues, assign a few trivial tickets for them to complete on their own. 4. Increase complexity slowly over time until they are familiar enough with the code base to take on most things. 5. Depending on the size and complexity of the code base, this could take 2 to 6 months. Pair programming is a great way to speed up the process, and I assume if you have a huge code base then you have enough engineers to consider pair programming. I've always noticed a higher productivity and knowledge base in teams that utilize this.
  15. I have been using jeans from a company called "The Perfect Jean" based in NYC for about 2 years now. Super solid company with amazing jeans. They look like denim but are stretchy and I love them. The Perfect Jean | Unbelievably Comfortable Stretch Denim
