  1. BTW - I tried disabling my onboard APU (is it an APU?) in the Device Manager. But my GPU still didn't work. However, I haven't tried the BIOS thing yet. But I don't know if I even have that option.
  2. Sorry it took so long to reply, bro. I'm back home now. So my motherboard model is an Acer Aspire M3450 And my integrated graphics is ATI Radeon HD 4250 Alright, so what can you tell me now with that information?
  3. All I get is the Acer splash screen on my monitor. Then it beeps a short beep one time. Then 10 seconds later it beeps another short beep. Then my screen goes black.
  4. I tried everythiiiing. I plugged the monitor into the graphics card using the DVI-D cable first. Then I plugged the monitor into the graphics card using a VGA cable. Then I tried plugging the monitor in using a different port (my card has 2 ports). Nothing works!
  5. Oh, and my specs are: CPU - AMD FX-4100 PSU - VIOTEK 550W MOBO: Acer Aspire M(something) RAM: 8GB OS - Windows 10
  6. To make a long story (fairly) short: I bought a GTX 950 last week. I put it in the PCIe slot. My computer wouldn't boot, and it wouldn't even boot into the BIOS. Then I bought a GTX 750ti this week. The same thing happened. My power supply is 550 watts, so that shouldn't be a problem. I'm using the correct display cable (DVI-D dual link). And before you ask, yes, the graphics card is in all the way - the power LED was on, and the fans were spinning. The only problem I can think of is that my BIOS is outdated. I could update my BIOS, but the update would only go to 2012. (right now the current version is 2011). ...So before I downgrade to an older GPU, a 500 series, maybe you guys have some bright ideas to make my 750ti work?
  7. You know, you drop your phone in the toilet. You find out it won't turn on. You cover your phone in rice for a day. Then it works. I know the rice absorbs the water! That part is obvious. But how does it absorb the water from INSIDE of your phone? It's not like the rice can actually get inside your phone because the case and the screen is in the way. So how does this age old trick actually work?
  8. I was bored today and came up with a random idea, but it's probably stupid. What if there were HDD's that you could connect to your PCIe slot? Would that even be possible? I know that people all already upgrading to M.2 SSD's because, apparently, PCIe is faster than SATA. But SSD's typically have lower storage than an HDD (unless you buy an expensive SSD)... But what if you wanted 4 TB of storage? But you also want more bandwidth? Would it work? And there's an expression: "There's nothing new under the sun." I bet someone already thought of that before.
  9. Oh okay! So because GPU's are all different, I can't tell how powerful it is just by looking at the Ghz? That makes sense... But does architecture matter? Like, is there a brand of GPU that has a better architecture than the rest?
  10. Yesterday I posted a topic on this forum asking if a GeForce GTX 950 would be bottlenecked on my pc. Then someone said I should get a Radeon R9 380x instead, because they're better... However, the Radeon has more VRAM but less clock speed. And I thought clock speed usually mattered the most. Basically, I want to play Far Cry 4 on my pc when I get a graphics card (whichever one I decide to get). So which would be better? Radeon R9 380: 4 GB GDDR5, 918 MHz GeForce GTX 950: 2 GB GDDR5, 1.17 Ghz
  11. I want to buy a graphics card soon for gaming (right now I'm just running off integrated graphics). I just wanted to know if the graphics card will be bottlenecked in any way. I'm going to get an MSI GeForce GTX 950 (http://pcpartpicker.com/part/msi-video-card-gtx950gaming2g) My PC specs are: CPU: AMD FX-4100 Quad-Core Motherboard: Acer Aspire M3450 Memory: 8 GB DDR3 (dual channel) HDD: 930 GB PSU: 550W I don't THINK the graphics card will be bottlenecked because it's probably not that powerful, but I just want to make sure. Thanks!
  12. Okay, I know people have probably asked this question on LTT about 1,000 times already. But there are a lot of smart people on here and I want your guy's opinions on a good graphics card I should buy on a budget. (I don't need to run high-end games like Crysis, Battlefield, or Skyrim) And I don't want to spend more than $130. I have a computer with an AMD-FX 4100 quad-core 3.60 Ghz CPU, 8 GB of RAM, a 550W PSU, and 1 TB harddrive.
  13. Hey guys, I was just wondering what kind of graphics card I should buy to run a dual monitor setup. But before I do, will a cable splitter work? Because I already have a "Y" shaped DVI-D cable, and I tried connecting it to two monitors, and the only thing that happened was it "duplicated" the image onto both screens. So everything I was doing on my main monitor was happening on my second one. But I want to have it where I can expand both monitors and be able to multi-task. Did I do something wrong? Or do cable splitters not work and I need a graphics card with 2 DVI ports?
  14. I want to use Avast as my main anti-virus, and CCleaner as my main anti-malware, however, Windows Defender is real-time scan, and I don't want it to conflict with Avast! When I went to the Windows Defender settings to try and turn it off, it says "This helps find and stop malware from installing or running on your PC. You can turn this off temporarily, but if it's off for a while we'll turn it back on automatically." So should I still run Avast and Windows Defender together? Or am I just worrying too much and it's not really that much of a big deal?
  15. This is just a fun little discussion I wanted to start because I'm curious to see what electronics other people have built or fixed recently. You could also explain how you fixed or built something so other people who might be having the same problem can learn how to do it. I'll go first: The most recent thing I fixed (5 hours ago) was an iPod Touch 5th Generation headphone jack. The person said the sound kept going in and out everytime they plugged in their headphones, and the cable was loose. I figured that the locking switches inside the jack were stuck, so I got them unstuck by wiggling the headphone plug around back-and-forth, and then cleaned out the inside with 91% isopropyl alcohol and a lint-free cloth, and it worked!
  16. Whenever I try to access an external server, my speed is super slow and people complain that I have a lot of ping. What do I do? Are there any websites/software to help uninstall extra pings? Also I downloaded a lot of RAM from the Pirate Bay. Could installing too much RAM also installed more ping on my pc?
  17. I have been using Malware Bytes and Windows Defender together. However, I heard Windows Defender sucks, so I want to get a new anti-virus program. But want some suggestions. So please feel free to suggest your favorite combonations, and you can help me out and others who might see this.
  18. Since you can buy a stick of 64 GB RAM, then what would happen if you bought 4 of them and put them in your motherboard and had 256 GB of RAM? Or is that just for servers only? If not, would games and video editing become ultra-fast? And how much power would all that memory need?
  19. The GPU in my NVIDIA GeForce GTS 250 was overheating and would make my computer freeze and reboot everytime I played a game. So I decided I'd try to fix it myself by replacing the thermal compound. I bought Arctic MX-4 instead of Arctic 5 because I heard it was better for GPU's. So did I make a good choice, or should I have bought a different thermal compound?
  20. Also the reason why I started this topic is because I wanted to know if the 4 sticks of 1 would be better because it would be taking advantage of quad-channel mode. Or am I wrong?
  21. I'm kind of confused about something and would like someone to explain this, (this is just a hypothetical question), but if I had a motherboard that supported quad-channel memory, and I only had enough money to buy 4 GB of RAM, what would be faster? 2 sticks of 2 GB RAM or 4 sticks of 1 GB RAM
