  1. All the parts have arrived and I'll most likely have some time to throw it together today. I'll post an update whether it worked out of the box or if it ends up requiring anything else.
  2. Go AMD if you want good performance out of the box and efficiency. (Less heat/less power draw) It's also cheaper. Go Intel if you want a bit higher of a boost clock at the exchange of more heat/more power) Edit: I've been ninja'd by @PDifolco!
  3. Hopefully this is the case. I've never actually purchased a processor that is "newer" than the board I'm buying for it. Fingers crossed. This is to upgrade my work PC which is rocking an 8th gen at the moment. Fractal Design North arrived yesterday!
  4. This motherboard requires a BIOS update to work with the 14th gen Intel CPUs... is there anything specific or particular that needs to be done in order to get the BIOS updated? Or should I be able to download the BIOS update on a USB stick and update from there? I do not have a 12 or 13th gen intel CPU on hand if that is necessary. Thanks!
  5. I use Chrome for testing changes to websites. I actually prefer Edge over Chrome (in the windows Ecosystem, not so much for MacOS), but Firefox has been my daily driver since before Chrome even existed and haven't found a good enough reason to get away from FF since. I do agree that the initial Edge user experience is a little much with everything they throw in your face, but that's a one-time thing. While power-users (like ourselves) may not like it, I'm sure Microsoft has done their own A/B testing and determined it's more beneficial for them to keep the weather/ads/etc in at first launch.
  6. I can agree that the Yamaha mixer is a solid choice if you really want a mixer. One of the benefits of a mixer over an audio interface is the ability to add additional sources if the need comes up in the future. For example, I use a mixer at home with my desktop pc and laptop, the laptop is plugged into a "dock/hub" and that hub feeds the audio into my mixer. Whether I want to use headphones or my speakers, I turn the volume knob for either on the mixer and can independently have both outputs going at different levels (normally I either go all in for headphones or speakers... no real reason to have both going) Example. Spotify / discord is loaded on laptop Game is loaded on desktop Both sources come thru my speakers. This all depends on your use case though and if you feel you'll ever see yourself needing such functionality. Otherwise an audio interface is definitely the way to go.

In July I signed up for solar panels to be inst…

Wow that's a very cool house in the valley you have! (about how long until the panels pay for themself?)
  10. Have you reset the BIOS to defaults? (Removing any overclocking or custom configs)
  11. I think the "on sale" m1 macbooks are an insane value for the price. They can normally be had for ~$750. If you buy a refurb you can obviously go even lower, and for the average non-power user, the m1 air/pro books are more than powerful enough. I alternate between android and apple phones. I'm not sure what android I'll get next, but I was getting the OnePlus phones for a while. I'm currently still using the iPhone 12, but it hasn't shown any signs of wear/sluggishness quite yet, so I haven't even begun researching my next android. Working in the tech industry, I think it's beneficial to be open-minded about different pieces of technology. Having some sort of bias towards one company or another for no particular reason is silly in my opinion. (think amd vs intel... amd vs nvidia... apple vs android... windows vs macos... ford vs chevy... democrats vs republicans...) There's a lot of unnecessary divisions between things, and rather than "picking a side and sticking with it", try to understand the pros/cons of each individual thing, and weigh those "actual, factual" pieces of knowledge into determining what device is best for you. Going back to my alternating between phones, I think it's nice to stay as up to date with android and apple, but don't want to spend the money to have 2 phones at all times.
  12. Can't go wrong with either of those! Look into the different graphical interfaces for each and choose what you think looks best.
  13. I've been loving my Jabra 75t for work for many years now. Almost used daily, however I'm not sure how the "current" variations of their TWS earbuds compare. Just throwing out my personal experience with them. It's nice because I can have them paired to my phone AND my work PC. They will auto swap inputs depending on where I have my audio source coming from.
  14. Love the 1990. If you have a chance to test them out first I'd give them a shot and see if you like their sound as well. As with any of the recommendations, it would be best if you could try before you buy.
  15. Have you tried "Halls of Torment"? So good!
  16. Quick little bump... It appears that now the intel 14th gen processors are out. Does anyone have any insight as to if I should update the CPU of this build or is it not quite worth it? I have not yet ordered any parts for my new work PC, however I will be soon. Any insight is much appreciated as I haven't been following all of the latest news in the PC space recently.

Friendly reminder, if you update your AMD BIOS…

Hopefully the passive aggressiveness I sense is false!
  18. Are you loading the pictures directly from the Drone? (If you have the Mavic 3 Cine version...) Or are you loading the pictures in through the SD Card? Do you transfer the files into a storage pool first and then edit in lightroom? If so, what is the storage medium you're working off of?
  19. I'm not going to read everything. Actually I only read your OP. But to simplify, you need to change your sleeping schedule, and hold true to that for a MINIMUM of 1 month if not TWO MONTHS of a changed sleep schedule. It's going to suck. But there's no way to "flip a switch" and just have everything work. I used to alternate between Third Shift for 3-4 months of a year and then back to First Shift for the rest, every year, for 6 years straight. It is not good or healthy to do that. I'm happy I've landed in a place where I can work the same shift every month of the year. You can do it. Explain your current situation to your supervisor/boss and explain it will probably be rough for the next month or two. (And hopefully you are willing to work a hour later if you show up a hour early, if possible to maintain hours, but don't let this turn into "i mind as well work 10-9 instead of 8-5")
  20. I'll have to watch at a later time. Do they specifically talk about the CX 80S anywhere? The IEM that OP is inquiring about?

The number of entitled people thinking their we…

Find a way to implement ads in a less-intrusive manner. Ads every 5-10 minutes when I'm listening to a 1 hour long live mix just kills the vibe of the music.
  22. That's a link to a video that at first glance seems to be praising the Sennheiser IEM. If I do a search for the "SENNHEISER CX 80S" as OP is wondering about, there's a ton of reviews all claiming how wonderful they are for the price. All I'm getting at, is it's probably not beneficial to OP or to anyone who visits this thread in the future to give a blanket statement saying "all sennheiser IEM bad". Without giving any reasoning, whether by measurements or your own personal opinions on why you consider them bad.
  23. Source? I haven't tried their IEMs yet, but claims like this always astound me when no other information is given.
