AlphaGamer46 got a reaction from IHaveFallen in No display after power outage
Umm, try resetting the CMOS, because if the system is turning on, but not POSTing, this can be a major cause.

I've always loved these old Apple system mods. To me, computer modding has turned into sort of what you see in the car modding scene: a bunch of kiddies mindlessly strapping off the shelf components together. Modding should involve self fabrication and expertise to make things that weren't designed to fit together, fit together. This build certainty has evidence to show those attributes as well as the hours and effort it took to put everything together, I like that.

AlphaGamer46 got a reaction from SteveGrabowski0 in How is playing the Switch in sunlight?
I've got one, and seriously, I haven't noticed it to be dim outside. It's brighter than the 3DS, if you have ever used one of those outside.
As for charging, I don't have any figures, but if you have a USB power bank, you'll still be able to keep on going, and anyway, with games like Zelda, you're still going to get like 3 hours of battery life. I can't imagine anyone sitting outside for more than 3 hours xD.

Nice. I'd probably be playing for 30 minutes to an hour at a time outside. My dog always wants to be outside and I'm getting bored reading the same physics books when I take her out lol.

Oh yeah, you'll be more than fine for that.

Do a retro reflection/use/attempt of use of dial-up, the pains, the speeds, and using it in the office.

Not really, sure you'd save some money over buying all of that brand new but I wouldn't call it a stellar deal or anything.
All the PC parts and the monitor can be had brand new for about that price.

AlphaGamer46 reacted to AnonymousGuy in Skiing or Snowboarding?
Honestly? Probably doesn't really matter. It's all about having an adrenaline rush from not dying getting down the mountain regardless of what's attached to your feet.
I picked up skiing 6 months ago and was going down the mountain on my first lesson. one of my friends ended up going home crying and couldn't really get the hang of it. point being: it's probably up to you how fast you will learn either skiing or snowboarding.
I'll give 2 advices: first, wear long sleeve compression gear under your clothing so if you fall you won't tear skin from sliding. second, don't be afraid of what you're doing. If you go down the mountain acting like a pussy, you're going to fall a lot more than if you just take a "fuck it, let's go" approach. edit: third advice, don't worry about people up the mountain crashing in to you. only worry about people below you and cross-traffic if you're cutting across another trail.

AlphaGamer46 got a reaction from ZackCodesAI in Which laptop will you choose?
I bought a new XPS 15 9560 a couple of weeks ago. I can confirm that it is a beautiful laptop, with all-day battery life (if you don't play games lol), great performance for battery life, a damn comfortable keyboard, a beautiful display (with touch too), and a fingerprint sensor (at least on my model).
Thunderbolt 3 is beautiful on it as well. I don't have a current use for it yet, but I'm looking forward to using it.

Thanks. But it doesn't look like its actually sold. Looks like it's OEM
Yeah ideally £60 is the max I wanna spend on a drive. And yes I'm fine shopping online. Amazon or ebuyer. (Prefer Amazon as I have prime)

I agree with @AlphaGamer46 also by time you send your warrantied drive back and wait for a new one you would have been better off spending the shipping money and time on getting another new drive.

If the drive is brand new, it'll be covered under the manufacturer's warranty anyway, as I've found that PC component retailers' warranties never count for anything. They charge you for 'diagnostics' before sending it off, and charging you.

Drivers may... I don't know? Many bloatware or the card is not inserted properly?

AlphaGamer46 got a reaction from TiresomeToe933 in Computer not booting unless F key is pressed
Try seeing if there's a BIOS update for your computer from the PC manufacturer's website.
Try another thing: go through the BIOS, and make sure that the settings aren't set to boot from the iGPU (if there is one).

AlphaGamer46 got a reaction from Ryujin2003 in your opinion on Edge...
I don't use Edge, simply for the fact that I need bookmark syncing across my desktop, my laptop, my phone and my tablet. When Edge integrates bookmark syncing, and it's on Android, then I'd reconsider.
It is a good browser, I might add. Better than Google Chrome, at least
PS. I use Opera

Awesome, yeah was hoping someone would know, since the 1 on amazon blatantly says "NOT FOR IPHONE", so I'm assuming yes..., but I'll for sure check some reviews out.
I would stay with my old 1, but the housing by the end is badly damaged, and sometimes hisses at me.. usually I can move it around to trigger the fast charging, but couldn't get it to fast charge anymore, Figure'd with the spring, it shouldn't break, and dat lifetime warranty is nice.

Keep current monitor, and then save up. Or wait a bit for vega for your GPU and then get a freesync monitor. (They are loads cheaper.)
Dell monitors are tanks so. not a worry.

A 2010 MacBook (White Unibody) laptop, model A1342 with a C2D at 2.4GHz, 4GB of RAM and a Samsung 850 EVO 250GB SSD.

AlphaGamer46 reacted to mrchow19910319 in The best tech purchases you ever made?
I think for every day usage 8GB is enough. I am not sure what's your daily workflow is like. If you need to open a lot of apps in the background and switching between them, (Like photoshop in the background, 20 chrome tabs open, IDE running, evernotes for taking notes, and pdf files opening) then you need 16GB lol.

AlphaGamer46 got a reaction from shutterrart in New Builder, asking for Advice
That PC is going to be more than perfect for a number of years after building.
With PC building, getting a PC that is either not enough or just right results in a bigger investment. As I say, spend more now to save later.
If you need any tips on building, feel free to ask. I've built a few myself, and know the ins and outs of building.
Hope this helps!
