  1. I'm considering buying the WEP 858D Hot Air Rework Soldering Station sold by WEP TOOLS on Amazon. However, when reading about other models of the 858D, it seems that there's a major safety concern where the grounds weren't wired properly and live current could escape into the user. This model of the 858D is advertised as being safer and some amazon reviews about the station said the grounds were "all perfect". my questions are: should I still be concerned about the grounding issue with this specific model? if grounding is still an issue, what are some alternative hot air rework stations that are worth considering? I look forward to hearing your guys' thoughts on this.

I'll put the un-shorten links here so if anyone wants to look at it, they could.
  3. Yeah those lol. So, I think I'm going to use these things for cleaning my "tip". ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) Links are to the Dollar Store Website: (Yes, The Dollar Store has its own website. I was surprised too) https://goo.gl/OvyAnX https://goo.gl/qFZ70L
  4. @revsilverspine The brass is for cleaning the tip of your soldering iron. I learned that you suppose to use a combination of both the brass and the sponge. You know, two dabs on the brass and a tap on the wet sponge. Here's a link to the brass "doohickey" on amazon, lol: https://amzn.com/B00FZPGDLA
  5. Thanks @revsilverspine Okay, I just have one more question. I really don't want to drop ten bucks for a chunk of brass wire along with dropping 6 bucks for a cleaning soldering sponge . Is there a cheaper option or could I easily source it somewhere else for free?
  6. Hey Guys, So I found this old Pace Presentation about soldering. I've watched some of it and it still retains the fundamentals of soldering. It also explains the "how and why" of soldering which I find helps since that the tutorials I found only explain the "How" of it. Here's my Question: Is the information that is in this Presentation still viable when compared to todays standards for soldering and Hobby Electronics in general? If not, what would I be missing out if not provided in the Presentation? Here's the link to the Video
  7. NUC's are too expensive. How about a raspberry pi 2 with a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse.
  8. Lol, easiest case mod you can do is put a sticker on your case.
  9. hey guys, I've been doing some research on sleepers pc's. I've been looking at cooling options for older pc cases, boundaries on what kind of components can and can not fit in an older case, etc. I have yet to find out what can I do with older cases with firewire as a port like usb and such. I was wondering, what can I do with those old firewire ports? can i just put a plug in it can call it a day or is there something more to that out of date tech? thanks for your time.
