Arcaddia got a reaction from boggy77 in 2 Paths to Upgrading (CPU & GPU) OR (MOBO, RAM, NEW GEN CPU)
I ended up getting the 3600X, B450 Tomahawk after a lot of thinking and the cheapest 16gb of decent RAM I could find Corsair Vengeance 3000mhz, thanks for your help!

In general, optical mice rely on comparing what it sees on the surface and how it moves, compared to a laser mouse which tends to go a little deeper into the mouse pad itself, hence it worked fine. If the surface is uniform, then it is difficult to track, so try finding something that has surface patterns.

nevermind, i fixed it! Somehow i pressed a shortcut to show only on 2 (my secondary display monitor) so i set that back to extend displays. I have no idea what the shortcut could have been ... Now all my icons are messed up

yea pretty sure your pc would have shut down nevermind your component melting or on fire by the time you even saw that degrees on hwmonitor :), as others have said above its a glitch in the sensors

Don't you sometimes just wish you could find them and beat the living hell out of them, who the fuck do they think they are.

XMP is essentially overclocking the RAM. In the case of your Corsair Vengeance modules, they've been tested to work at DDR3-2400 at a certain voltage (probably 1.65V, but varies by model) even though they're actually probably -1600 modules at 1.5V. The problem is that the IMC's on Ivy Bridge and Haswell CPU's are only rated for 1.5V. It's not that they can't push RAM to 1.65V (one could argue that's Intel's way of "encouraging" the enthusiast platforms), but they aren't rated to handle it. Over time, it'll stress the IMC, and that can lead to this kind of lag, since the CPU then has to do parity calculations if it's getting inconsistent results from its memory controller. You can "encourage" it to work harder with a little extra voltage on the IMC, but that's obviously not a great idea when that's part of the problem already.

By what I read, when XMP is enabled, turbo boosting needs to be disabled otherwise the CPU will run at it's full clock speed 24/7. I do not know 100% and it's just a hypothesis. This also means that the frame rate drop was caused by the CPU and not the GPU.

Noctua wins in terms of silence. But it's an older design, with their older fans. But still performs really good. You might also want to look at their NH-U14S.
Be Quiet in terms of looks for a tower-type heatsink.
And I won't ever recommend a 120mm AIO cooler, unless you have some strict case compatibility. That's one of the few cases where they make sense.

if all you play is csgo, keep them. You will feel lost in the game without them and will be put off from playing it anymore (lol). Or you could just bank them on opskins if you think what you will use the money for will be more beneficial.

    Not always true.

I bought Corsair products through a super sketchy retailer and Corsair paid for shipping from where I live to them in California and paid for the shipping back.

And some manufacturers will grant you international warranty so you can send it to your closest service center and not have to go across the pond.
