Unpopular opinion and I know this will rub others the wrong way but I'd be happy if they took a second week off and really honed things to make sure they have their ducks in a row. Granted a loss of LMG content for a bit isn't a good thing but they need the time to focus on fixing things the right way. Just my opinion.

Ram: Try to get 32GB. If all you play is 2 games listed not a big deal but if you are trying to play newer games it is worth it and not that much expensive https://it.pcpartpicker.com/product/c2BG3C/kingston-fury-beast-32-gb-1-x-32-gb-ddr4-3200-cl16-memory-kf432c16bb32

SSD: That board does have a M.2 NVME slot so there is no reason to not use a NVME. Get P3PLUS or something along those line https://it.pcpartpicker.com/product/chzhP6/crucial-p3-plus-1-tb-m2-2280-nvme-solid-state-drive-ct1000p3pssd8 (P3 will cost less than MX500 But deliver better overall experience) (Dram doesn't going to make a difference for you in this case) There is NVME to USB Adapter things you could use to connect NVME Externally similar to Sata to USB) Kingston NV2 is also a good choice for saving a buck.

Case: Overall it is a good case but it will be a limiting factor when it comes to upgradability NEW GPUS are BIG You could get a better ATX case for cheaper and get some fans https://it.pcpartpicker.com/product/b9tKHx/deepcool-matrexx-55-mesh-atx-mid-tower-case-dp-atx-matrexx55-mesh (In total cost the same as CM case) Not a bad choice for what it is.

PSU: doesn't recommend doing that at all. it isn't exploded already doesn't mean it never will. IF you have left over money get a Better PSU.

I was gunna say you could bump the 5600 down to a 5500, but upon further research that actually seems like a bad idea.
I thought it was just a bumped down Ryzen 5600 but apparently it's a cut down 5600g.
Which makes me feel bad because not knowing this I put one in my GFs computer LMAO

The Q300L is a good budget choice. I built aforementioned 5500 PC in one and it was (for the price) great. The "glass" is plastic so no worries about dropping it and overall it offered great features for the price (IMO).
I'm not entirely up to date on the latest stuff (as shown above), but it seems like this is about as good as you'll get for the budget without tanking performance.

Trentonxx reacted to BondiBlue in What is the cheapest 500GB SSD with a dram cache
Because it makes a noticeable difference? I still mainly use SATA SSDs, and the difference between a drive with DRAM and one without is noticeable, especially for a boot drive.

understandable. older videos are slower to load (and while the quality being low can be because of the older upload date I feel they are more sluggish to skim around even if 3 minutes long) but this seems to appear on Wan shows only and not some longer and low-view counts videos like some 20k views 1 hour long lessons idk 😕 just weird to be happening on theirs

The only thing that could be different is the firmware they ship with. Afaik there were no hardware changes to the G7 after launch. But you can update them all to the same firmware either way. So it doesn't really matter. I'd go for the cheapes if you absolutely want a G7. But i wouldn't buy a G7 to begin with.

EDIT: Just noticed: The 477€ is used. That's why it's cheaper.

Trentonxx reacted to OnionFromOrion in Gigabyte commits massive PR oopsie in China
    Summary
Taiwan based manufacturer of hardware, Gigabyte, has decided to attempt company self-destruct in the Chinese market

Original Gigabyte statement that caused controversy:

The original page was posted in mainland China of all things, a bold move to say the least.

    Rough translation:
However, Gigabyte ended up drawing attention to itself, leading to further discovery regarding its inconsistent About page

I'm not sure if it's clear on the forums, plus it's mostly in Chinese, but basically Gigabyte implies that Taiwan and China are separate on all its sites with the exception of their Chinese site, this was the top comment on their apology post on Bilibili, at the time of writing it's at 16397 upvotes compared to the apology post's 1668

Gigabyte statement in response, Google translated

Since this event has made its rounds on Chinese internet, JD.com, one of the two major e-commerce platforms in China, has hidden search results of Gigabyte products, currently the most viewed video criticizing Gigabyte has reached over 1 million views on Bilibili, and all commentary appears to be negative.

This is really just part of a series of escalating tensions between mainland China and Taiwan, it's likely some guy rather low on the corporate ladder decided put the line in. I don't want to go into the details too much but the situation between Taiwan and China is basically a civil war that didn't exactly end, there's a lot of history that most Westerners, even those that pay attention to politics don't really understand. The hostility between the two sides has been rising in the last few years. ASUS previously had a similar incident, except it was in the opposite direction, where an employee messed with company sponsorship of a streamer over the Taiwan issue without the appropriate authority.

Nothing to gain by splitting, just a pain when one partition is full and the other not...

When you're not focused on the benchmark screen it could reduce clock speed to base clock. Make sure you focus back to the benchmark software after changing the settings.

200w is max limit for 1070 Strix O8G variant at 120%.

Trentonxx reacted to olbaze in Mice similar to SideWinder X8?
Some years ago, I had a 50€ giftcard to a store and a week left to use it on something. So, I went to the store and got myself a Microsoft SideWinder X8 for 30€. You know, the mouse that was a pimped out version of that "Rat King" mouse? Well, I was instantly impressed. For some reason, the shape that pretty much everyone else seemed to hate, including the vertical sidebuttons, was perfect to me. To this day, I haven't ran into a mouse that was as good a fit as the SideWinder X8. Sadly, the X8 had a few weaknesses, some of which are a bit too fatal. Firstly, it's a wireless mouse, which means batteries, which means weight. I used to get around this by plugging the mouse in to the charger, but the cable got bent and doesn't work consistently anymore. Secondly, the scroll wheel was always a bit too loose for my taste.

So now I am looking for a mouse that would be as close as possible to the SideWinder X8 in shape and preferably wired. Would the Mionix Naos or Func MS-3 be the closest I'm going to get?

Using NAND flash type to determine SSD performance is just a bad idea in general. SLC>MLC>TLC>QLC is in theory correct but in reality an unreliable metric.

More bits per cell = tigher voltage checks = much more time for measurement = slower.

Yeah, ain't that a bitch? Some manufacturers tell you on their websites, but for others, you'll have to google reviews and hope one of those mentions such details. For some, you never find it out at all, unless you contact the manufacturer's support and ask.

was the vertical GPU for looks or performance? I have the same case and I notice how how the glass gets in the exaust of the GPU: I wonder if a vertical config might help move air away faster.

Purely for looks, Didnt see any temp or fan speed difference at all with the stock cooler. Im auming you are using a "taller gpu" that is wider than the pci bracket? If so you might run in to some issues if you got a big heatsink for the cpu and a vertical mount. So be sure to check that before buying.

If you got a pair of pliers its easy as you have to cut off the small metal parts between the pci brackets and thats all you have to do.
