  1. Currently using a bunch of Cosair products, recently got burned by them and looking for a different, more dependable brand!
  2. I wonder how hard it is to keep the mirror surface clean in front of the projector? Would love to experiment!
  3. More of this type of content please : )
  4. I am going to purchase a Visiontek USB SSD thumb drive soon as a home for my Development/Medic OS and I was wondering what the difference between the two models lines are? Both have similar read speeds but one has higher write speeds and I am wondering how this would effect the performance of the tasks I want to use the drive for. 90071X Line: https://www.visiontek.com/solid-state-drives/120gb-usb-3-0-pocket-ssd-detail.html 90084X Line: https://www.visiontek.com/solid-state-drives/128gb-usb-3-0-pocket-ssd-detail.html
  5. I like this video, Luke is an amazing personality. But where is the CONTENT? Where are the product reviews, where are the scrapyard wars and other seires, where are the Vlogs/SuperFun stuff?
  6. Dual Interface SSD's are the future.
  7. Standard Raid 1 that is built into the Synology DSM OS, with 2 3TB WD Red drives. Damn, that sucks. I thought it would be very slow but as long as it got the transcoding process off my main machine and I could run it overnight I would have been fine with that. Hmmm, I keep poking around. And that actually makes a lot of sense actually when I look at the numbers, I will investigate when I get home later and see if that is the cause, is there a fix for it in windows? I guess I never bothered to care enough about my storage space to notice before.
  8. Hello people of LinusTechTips, I recently built my first real personal rig (Its in my history, if a bit tweaked from that) and I picked up a Synology DC216se with 2 WD 3TB Red drives as my Network attached storage for my rig and a few laptops. After reading on synologyies website I discovered that their NAS boxes can be used to transcode video. My model only supports up tp 720p naively but I was wondering if there was a 3rd party plugin that supports 1080p Transcoding on the DC216se? As a side note, once I set up the NAS with 2 raided 3TB drives I only have collectively ~2.6 tb free on the "Drive" I know System files from DSM and other necessary files take up space so you dont actually get the full 3TB, but 400GB of files seems excessive, is this normal for RAIDed drives or synology Boxes? Thanks! -Noble
  9. 4K as a technology is not yet worth it IMO. 2K 21:9 strikes a perfect balance between lackluster support and difficulty to drive of 4K, and distracting bezels of triple monitor setups. I did some research into that Mobo you suggested tho and I am switching to it, more expensive than mine but I like the features more.
  10. Pretty satisfied with my tweaked build. Need some last minute advice before my foray into building my first PC. Have you read the sidebar and rules? (Please do) Yes What is your intended use for this build? The more details the better. Graphics programming 3D modeling/Rendering Streaming Gaming If gaming, what kind of performance are you looking for? (Screen resolution, FPS, game settings) Looking for highest possible settings on currently released games, if I need some more kick later I will purchase another 980ti for SLI. (Will my power supply support and UPS that?) What is your budget (ballpark is okay)? ~$3400 In what country are you purchasing your parts? CPU: Ive heard good things about the i7-5820k for both Intensive work applications and gaming due to overclock, I have never overclocked before but I guess you have to start somewhere. Cooler: Water is spooky and Air is quieter anyway, I choose the S version because of the graphics card orientation of this motherboard, which I think wouldn’t allow the full version. Motherboard: This is a part I would really appreciate some feedback on, I did some research but Im still not sure if this is a decent board for overclocking, future SLI, and maybe throwing another set of the same RAM I already have for 32GB later down the road, Help please! Storage: Not much to say here, its storage, see my NAS build at the end of post. GPU: Seemingly the same specs as the Classified but lower price? Not sure but this is a pretty beastly card on its own. Case: Noise dampening foam, small-ish form factor, and it will look damn sexy next to my ultrawide. But is there enough airflow for SLI down the road? Monitor: 21:9 has Stolen my heart, and While I would love to purchase an X34 Predator, I think Ill wait for the price to drop and pick up this while not as good, still pretty good LG for gaming and Content creation. (I do not game professionally, occasionally I do get pretty butt hurt playing TF2 because I am bad tho) Perps: They are peripherals with lots and lots of good reviews, Might as well play it safe! UPS: I think this UPS will give me enough time to save my work and shut down properly in the event of a power outage but I would like some feedback from someone with more experience on the subject. Im pretty happy with my build so far, But I am still tweaking it. I still have around $400 left in my budget and If no one has any good suggestions for additional things they think I might need or upgrades I am going to funnel this into a NAS, Setup to follow, If anyone knows of a better NAS solution I would love input! 11. The hardest part of this process for me was the motherboard, there is just so many features and things to learn about it, it seems to be the most complicated part about the computer. Did I pick a decent one? I would like to look into moderate overclocking and someday purchase my 980ti a friend to SLI with ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) Other than that, my main worry was if my single 980ti would be able to drive the X34 to close to its full potential. 1. Budget & Location $3400-3500 US, I am located in the Austin area so there are two microcenters withing 3 hours of me. 2. Aim I am a graphics programmer by Trade. So Programming, Modeling, and Rendering are important to me. I am also getting into content creation (Twitch, youtube, etc), and of course everyones favorite. Gaming. 3. Monitors Im buying a single ultrawide that I will hopefully use for many years to come. 4. Peripherals Im buying a K70, a highly rated keyboard, to go with my first build. I am thinking about replacing my mouse to, I have a aging G700 and it might be time to say goodbye. I have left a bit in the budget for this purpose 5. Why are you upgrading? This is my first major build and the first one for myself, I have been working and gaming on a laptop for 5 years. 12. I think I am pretty set on ultrawide for productivity and gaming. But I have heard some horror stories about the X34. Some of them dont reach 100hz, there is horrible backlight bleed, screen flickering, and other issues, are these fixed now? Is it as amazing as linus says now? As a side note, how is the software for these moniors? By that I mean there is software like flawless widescreen and such. Is there anything that can "Split" The screen into multiple virtual windows?
  13. Hello helpful people of LTT, I know that this has been asked to death but I just wanted to most recent thoughts/opinions. Will a EVGA GeForce GTX 980 Ti CLASSIFIED GAMING ACX 2.0+ allow me to get the full experience of ultra settings gaming on an X34 (60+ Frames) and let me take advantage of the 100hz overclock? There has been some hate on this card and im not sure why. It looks to be EXACTLY the same as the FTW Gaming edition but more expensive so what the heck is the diffrence? Thank you for your time! -Noble Relevant Links: CLASSIFIED GAMING ACX 2.0 - https://www.evga.com/Products/Product.aspx?pn=06G-P4-4998-KR FTW GAMING ACX 2.0 - https://www.evga.com/Products/Product.aspx?pn=06G-P4-4996-KR X34 Predator - http://www.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/predator-model/UM.CX1AA.A01
