Looks like pairing an older Amazon Fire TV Stick remote might have just solved my remote woes.

Hi everyone. Just a quick question about the Nvidia Shield voice search results. I don't know if it's the apps developers or what, but it seems that when I do voice search results or any searches in general, not everything content wise is coming up. For example, when I try to do a voice search for "Westworld" or "The Legend of Tarzan," which are both on HBO GO and HBO NOW at this time, there is no option to just jump to the HBO GO app. It used to have it a month ago, but now it no longer shows up. Same thing when I searched for "The Venture Bros" a month ago. Originally the HULU app would be shown and I just jump in, but now nothing except for Google Play and Vudu. I don't know what to do. Is there an update that I need to do or anything that I need to turn on in my Settings? I am missing something? Please help. Thank you.

I also agree 100%. I've been doing a few more tests and I'm starting to narrow down my choices. As of right now, I'm sticking with my Amazon Fire TV for Amazon content (since it's designed for it) and the Nvidia Shield for everything else thanks to its incredible speeds and response time. I'm getting use to the Shield remote after trying it out on several apps. Mainly Netflix, HULU, Vudu and HBO GO. Vudu kept throwing me off, but after a few more tries I figured out the strategy of double-tap for pause on the remote. It's the same for the game controller too. I tried out the newly updated HULU app for Fire TV, which is terrible BTW. But luckily the Roku and Shield still have the old interface, which makes me happy. And for anyone who needs a better search engine across the board for finding digital content across services, I'll recommend Fan TV. Best search for finding video content online I've ever found: https://www.fan.tv/

Hi everyone. Got a question for all of you. What do you consider to be the best streaming box for the best picture and sound quality for Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Video, HBO GO/NOW etc.: Roku Ultra, Amazon Fire TV 2nd Gen Box (not Stick) or Nvidia Shield 2017. I've been trying to figure it out recently and wanted an honest opinion. I own all three devices and have been trying to figure out which one I should stick with in the long run. Each one seems to have it's Pro's and Cons. While I do like the Shield, I do hate how sometimes the playback is not always accurate and sometimes fast forwards my show unexpectedly. And I just HATE the remote. They should have had dedicated Play/Pause buttons with Rewind and Fast Forward. Plus I feel that the Android TV platform may not last in the long run due to adoption/competition. And their voice search is not the most accurate. I still feel that Amazon Fire TV wins that battle hands down. Because of that, I'm leaning more toward the Amazon Fire TV, but I'm still unsure. So please let me know what you like and what you feel would be the best for Picture and Sound for streaming. Thank you.

Thank you all for your responses. But more specifically, I was asking about sharpness, picture quality and sound for both the Roku Ultra and the Amazon Fire TV 2nd Gen Box, not the stick. Both are hard wired for Ethernet. I've done some more tests last night, using Netflix and a scene from episode 1 of AHS: Hotel, and came to a very interesting conclusion that the Roku has a more vivid picture color, but the sound needed to be upped a little via the Volume button. Meanwhile, the Amazon Fire TV's picture was very good, very close to the color of the Roku, but the sound was higher.

Hi Everyone. I just downloaded the Roku App on my Android smartphone to be able to control my Roku 3 (2015 model). I really love how how much better the voice search is on it overall and it feels way more intuitive to scroll/search for my content. However, there is one thing keeping me from fully switching over: Private Listening. I cannot listen to any movie/show dialog using just my Smartphone, even with Bluetooth enabled. And before you ask why not just use the Roku 3 remote, for some reason my Roku 3 remote's headphone jack for Private Listening audio skips periodically, thus preventing me from fully enjoying my show. This has never happened to me on my PS4 console via the controller, but that's beside the point. Am I missing something? Is there any way to enable Private Listening on the Smartphone itself? Please let me know if anyone can help. Thank you.

Thank you so much verydogesuchwow and johnny5c for your replies. At this point, I think I'm going to stick with the Roku 3 for now. Maybe I'll get a Roku 4 when they refresh it and/or consider the NVidia Shield TV. Interestingly, I did discover a new app called "Fan TV" that does a lot of what I needed for it to do for universal stream searches. Pretty intuitive too. I really like it a lot. But thank you again for your help.

Thank you for your suggestion. I do own an Amazon Fire TV Stick and have used it in the past. It's...okay. I do like using it for my music and the video service is nice. I never really liked the User Interface. And the inability to move the Apps around does bother me. Plus when I buy Blu-Rays, I use the Digital Copies on VUDU, so I would like to have that service. But since Amazon will NEVER have VUDU on it's system, that's kind of a deal breaker for me.

Hi Everyone. I'm trying to figure out if there are other video streaming devices out there that have something equivalent to the "Roku Search" feature. Basically on Roku devices, the Roku Search allows you to search universally across several Subscription & Renting services to let you know what's available, thus saving you a few bucks when renting/watching. Example: Search for the movie "Things to Do in Denver When You're Dead" gives you several options of different places to rent (Amazon, Google Play, Vudu, etc.) and also shows that Netflix has it available if you Subscribe to it. While I do love my Roku 3 very much, I'm always looking for the next big thing for a smoother experience. Plus at times my Roku can get stuck when I do a Voice Search, thus I have to reboot it. I'm pretty surprised that most websites don't talk about this when it comes to reviewing streaming devices. Do any of the following devices below have something equal to Roku Search: NVidia Shield Xbox One Chromecast Any Other Suggestion Thank you.

So it turns out it was the resolution in both games that was throwing me off, along with one other issue. My ASUS monitor is capable of going up to 2560 X 1440 at 60 Hz. Also, from another source, I had to turn both the Antialiasing and Anisotropic Filtering settings in the Options menu to OFF. Once I did that, made sure that V-SYNC was not checked in options and changed the setting for iPresentInterval=0 back to 1 on both games (since my monitor is at max 60 Hz, which is fine for me), it solved my screen tearing issues. I can now play my favorite games tear free and modded to my hearts content. Thank you again alizubair01 and everyone for your help. This issue was driving me crazy (I HATE screen tearing). I really appreciated this. You all rock! For those who want the short version: Change your resolution properly in Fallout 3 / NV Options (1080P, 1440P, etc.) Turn off V-SYNC (Verticle Sync) in Options Switch Antialiasing and Anisotropic Filtering to OFF in Fallout 3 / NV Options Make sure that iPresentInterval=1 is present in both games under Fallout_default where the game is stored in your folder. Change to iPresentInterval=0 if you are rocking a higher Hz/Frames Per Second (FPS).

Thank you everyone for your advice. Greatly appreciated. Ironically enough EChondo, I am using an MSI GE62 Apache Pro-001 as my gaming laptop . I'll let you know how it turns out via your solutions.
