I think as for now all the NAS on the market are still too overpriced. 

External/Internal HDD is still the way to go.

    Unless you want something easier to manage, that uses less power, is smaller, is always available, and/or you don't care about expandability.

    My own server, but I don't really fit into any of those categories -- I mean, I'd like to use less power and be smaller, but neither are realistic for what I want.
