WatsOnTV got a reaction from Baha in Folding@Home Android Client Control App
    Attention Android users!

I've been folding myself for about 3 years. I've always thought how nice it would be to be able to view all my clients' from my phone and be able to start/stop them from the comfort of my own couch.

So I made an Android app to do just that. Currently, the app lets you add clients (either manually, or let the app try find them for you) and start/stop them, and see if they are currently paused, running or ready for a work unit. An update will be coming out soon (say, a week?), which will extend that functionality to allow viewing work unit progress, viewing work unit ETA, setting folding power, and anything else you want.

If this sounds like something you'd be keen on, give the app an install!

I also have another app to view your user/team stats, I would love it if you could check that out also!
    https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.watsontv.fahstats&hl=en

Please, leave any feedback in the comments below. I look forward to it!
    Happy folding!

I've just put an update up on the play store, the app now shows you work unit percentage, allows finishing the work unit, automatic refresh and some little bug fixes (like longer names!). Link is in the original post! I'll have another update available in a few days, showing ETA, PPD, and other cool features. I'll reply here when its live.

    Hi folders!

I've created an android app to check your folding stats. You can search different donors by their name or ID, teams by their name or ID and view information about a given project.
You can see your total points, rank, completed work units, etc.
I use stats directly from F@H, not from other sources so my stats update within 10 minutes, where other stats update within 3 hours. I'd love it if you could check it out! Link below.

I think going for an i5 and H97 is the better option for the sake of the ~$30 NZD difference between the two

Get an i5 over the 8350. It is meh, just an OC'd 8320. The i5-4460 is better in gaming.

    Think of it this way...
The 8350 is basically an overclocked 8320
I regret buying my 8320 every day.
    Get a 4460.

OP, for usually the same price, i5 4460 will do you much better, trust me
even the motherboard for it will be cheaper + you'll need no aftermarket CPU cooler

Don't spend more if you can't really afford it. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the 8350.

they're more expensive, but you can get away with a cheaper motherboard and stock cooler, resulting in not that much of a price premium.

Passmark gets their performance numbers from users. Not stock for stock. So there are lots of OC'd runs in there. I'd say especially for the 8350. I know I did back when I ran one. Havent once ran passmark since only running i7s. What does that say? Could be nothing. Could be 8350 users running benches to make them feel their cpu is still relevant in comparison. I don't know...

What I do know is that the single threaded performance on the 8350 is lacking compared to any CPUs in the last 3 years even. It is extremely power hungry. Aside from a very few AM3+ mobos, it lacks common modern functionalities that current boards have. Has last gen PCI-e, no sata express, no m.2, usb 3.1/type C, possibly more(?).

With tech making the jump(finally) to 14/16nm, performance is gonna jump up big time. Leaving everything else behind. Don't buy into AM3+ in 2016.

If you already have a motherboard that supports it then it is a good deal. If you are purchasing a new board with it, I would look at a similarly priced Intel chip. I never had any problems with my 8350, but switched to 4790k in last upgrade cycle as i had never tried Intel until now.

thats pretty much the deal here, unless you really need dat single threaded performance.

should note an FX8350 requires a motherboard with quite the beefy VRMs, certainly when you want to overclock.

Oh, okay. See what price an i5-4460 or i5-4590 is, those are better gaming CPU's.

    i5-6500

This for example is an honest kit, i put memory also in case you would need it, this one is priced well:

With a slight overclock to 4.0 - 4.2ghz for example the i5-2500K will have similar performance to this 175$ CPU here...and this one you can easily find cheap 60$ motherboards for:
    http://pcpartpicker.com/part/intel-cpu-bx80646i54460

So, unless the 2500K come in combo with a Z68 or Z77 motherboard for around 200$ or less, it can be a good deal...if it's anything more than that, get an i5-4460 and a cheap H97 motherboard instead.
