  1. Sorry for resurrecting an old thread but a question. What monitors are those?

  3. Alright. Thank you for the advice. That’s something that wouldn’t cross my mind to do :P. Thank you for the advice I’ll try that first on Tuesday.
  4. Thank you for the response. I bought the graphics card from bhvideophoto.com. So, are you saying to give them a call and see if I can get a replacement? It’s a video card from February 2016 (way past 30 days from purchase date :P). What should I ask them? How is it possible to get a replacement?
  5. Well, I was going to do that on Tuesday. This is my first gaming rig, so I don’t know what to expect from contacting MSI and RMAing a product. That is why I asked to see if I can see if I’m going to have a hard time with them. I don't know if they are going to replace it or fix it and how long it will take from them to do it.
  6. Happy New Years! I have a few questions about the warranties for MSI graphics cards. Does anybody know what the warranty for MSI graphics cards? I have a GTX 980 TI I bought in February 2016 and now I'm having major issues with the graphics cards. 2/3 of the display ports have issues (it's flickering with one of my monitors and/or going completely off and then turns on). I narrowed it down to my graphics card by test it, the monitors I have, and a new DP cable. I use a dual monitor set up for school work (and gaming when I'm on break). What is the warranty does MSI have? It looks like the card I have discontinued (MFR # GTX 980TI GAMING 6G), what can they do for me? Has anybody had any issues with MSI on getting their products fixed/replaced? If it helps, this is my rig: https://pcpartpicker.com/b/LvWD4D Thank you for reading this. Hope to hear from you soon.
  7. Thanx for the input. I'm not really interested in 4k just yet. Maybe in four or five years when I update my entire PC, I'll get 4K (assuming 4K is still around and not replaced with a higher resolution). This PC will be used as a living room PC when I move out of my apartment and into a house. It's not worth it to me to update my graphics card yet for 4K.
  8. Hey everybody. Hope all is well. I was wondering, I'm thinking of upgrading one of my monitors and need some advice. I currently have an ASUS VG24QE and ASUS PA24Q. I am planning to replace the VG24QE with the ASUS ROG Swift PG279Q. I have a GTX 980 TI (Current rig: https://pcpartpicker.com/b/LvWD4D 1. What kind of frame rates can I expect from current games (if played on 1440p most likely maxed up graphics)? If there are benchmarks I can look at, can I get the links benchmarks? 2. With my current setup, I'm having issues playing games on full screen mode (they don't have the option for borderless fullscreen and windowed mode...Just full screen). I like to play some games (mostly indies) with the sound off and a youtube video/twitch up on my second monitor. I'm having issues with that. When in fullscreen mode, the youtube video/twitch stream stutters and drops in frame rates. Is there away to fix this issues? I have bordleress gaming (The PC program), but that only works with games that have a windowed mode already (so that options doesn't work lol) Thank you for taking the time to read this and hope to hear from you soon. **Edit: https://pcpartpicker.com/b/LvWD4D
  9. Hi everybody. Hope all is well. I am thinking about doing a career change and I am interested in software engineering. I do have a few questions about this career option. I have no experience programming. I just watched a few videos on youtube (on MIT’s channel) and really found it interesting. I’m currently in my late 20s and want to go back to school. I currently work for Walgreens so I have to ask them if there is a way I can get transferred from the retail space to the IT space of Walgreens, so that should be an interesting conversation I’ll have with my boss. I currently have about 90 credits in community college. Current GPA and Science GPA of 3.3 and Math GPA of 4.0 (even though I didn’t have a math course in a few years and the highest I went up to is Calc. 1). I know it’s not the highest GPA. I will be trying to improve all of my GPA. I’m planning to go into ASU Tempe (I live in AZ). I left school because I got into a graduate program and didn’t find it interesting after a few years (I was doing it for the money and wasn’t really happy with the career option I chose) and decided to withdraw from the program. 1. How do you guys recommend I approach schooling when I apply or getting into school? I don’t have any experience programming or any tech experiences (even though I do watch tech channels on youtube and am very interested in the subject matter). 2. For those of you that are working, what advice can you give to find a job after schooling? What should I be doing during school in order to increase my chances? How are job interviews like? I’m sure it’s drastically different from applying to a retail position. I’m going to schedule an appointment with ASU for more information, but I don’t know how many more years of school I will have left. I just want to take advantage of my opportunity as much as I can. 3. For those that live in AZ and work in software engineering or computer science, what opportunities does AZ have to offer? What are your experiences? Does anybody have trouble with employment in AZ? 4. I really want to do this career for a long time. Is ageism really an issue? Thank you for taking the time for reading this. Sorry for the long read. I hope to hear from you soon.
  10. Does anybody know how long the offer is valid for? I'm thinking about getting a new laptop for school.
  11. Thank for the advice but i figured it out. Thanx!
  12. Good evening. Hope everything is well. I don’t know if this belongs in this subforum or not. Here is what I need help with. Recently I bought a Component to HDMI converter (http://www.ebay.com/itm/221919997824?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AITf) and a and HDMI switcher (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/934584-REG/iogear_ghsw8181_avior_4_port_hd_audio.html) When I plug in my original xbox to the converter then the convertor to the switch. From there to the my monitor (VG248QE). When I turn on my xbox, the power button flashes from orange to green repeatedly. I looked it up and it means that the AV cables aren’t properly hooked up. How do I fix it so I can use my component to HDMI cable?
  13. Nevermind. I think I have figured it out using my speaker system. Thanx :).
  14. I get confused to which menu to navigate to for the volume. Plus it's easier to have a remote to do that. Also, I'm getting a cheap AUX cable to hook up to my monitor and don't want to sources of volume to go through the speaker (one being a movie/music from my PC and the other from my console.
  15. Hey. I want to know if there are remote control that are compatible with monitors. Currently, I have two different monitors: Asus PA24Q and Asus VG248QE. What I want to do is control volume and input signal (between DVI and HDMI). Monitor uses. Asus PA24Q: Movies and a second display for multi-tasking Asus VG248QE: My main monitor for gaming. I use it for PC gaming (via DVI) and console gaming (via HDMI splitter. I have more than one console for a one HDMI input). Some games that I play, I don’t really use the sound (mostly non story game/Nintendo games) and would generally put on a movie as background noise. Some games don’t even have a volume settings (again Nintendo games for the most part) and I want to mute the monitor. Also, would like to easily navigate through the inputs within each monitor.
  16. Never mind. I was thinking about my TV lol. Sorry. I will take your advice. I will be getting my other monitor and aux cable lat er this week. I will take your advice. Thank you for helping me out.
  17. Well ya. I have the opt in hooked up to the opt out.
  18. Ok. I will give it a try. Will it not affect the DP audio? Will the audio out (the AUX cable) carry out the same type of quality sound?
  19. I don't know. I have my rig hook up with DP. I don't know what the process is.
  20. Hey everybody. I have a question about my monitor. I have the ASUS VG248QE (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/917361-REG/asus_vg248qe_24_1ms_1080p_3d.html) I want to hook up my consoles to the HDMI port using an HDMI switcher (http://www.amazon.com/HD-108-Powered-Splitter-Support-Outputs/dp/B00BTC5S6O?ie=UTF8&psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=ox_sc_act_title_1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER) and using an converter to hook up my original xbox (http://www.ebay.com/itm/VGA-YPbPr-R-L-Audio-To-HDMI-Video-Converter-Scaler-Component-Composite-/261885082089). How do I keep using the HDMI for my video input, but use my external speakers for my audio source? I have the Corsair SP2500 speakers (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16836852001)
  21. Okay guys. Thank you for your help so far. Now I have attached videos with what I’m talking about. 1. The first video (Proof 1 – Desktop) is the issue showing up when I’m moving my icon around. This is a ridiculous speed and not how I move things around but it’s used to demonstrate what’s going on when I move the icons around at normal speed. In normal speed, it happens at random. 2. The second video (Proof 2 - The Binding of Isaac Rebirth (with Afterbirth DLC)) is showing gameplay. This game is not a demanding game. It is a remake of a flash game from newgrounds. This is gameplay is to demonstrate what I’m talking about. It gets worse with graphically intensive games. The incident happens at ~14:20 and at ~29:10 – 29:30.
