  1. Which exact PSU? The older or new one? The new is actually decent while the old is meh. Edit: Made it known that I am talking about the PSU. Edit #2: Its the older one so its meh and is overpriced. However its not crap like the rumors/myths make it out to be and its not a bomb. just a mediocre unit. For its price you can do much much better. Also I would strongly suggest upgrading to a single better card like others have suggested. http://au.pcpartpicker.com/product/JYyFf7/evga-power-supply-110b20750vr http://au.pcpartpicker.com/product/LhR48d/cooler-master-power-supply-rs650amaag1 http://au.pcpartpicker.com/product/bhV48d/antec-power-supply-hcg750m http://au.pcpartpicker.com/product/DPCwrH/seasonic-power-supply-ssr550rm
  2. Bottlenecking all depends on the game and graphical settings. You can't say for sure it will without knowing both.
  3. Any worthwhile PSU would have short circuit protection on it.
  4. I would suggest separating the RM class. The 1000 watt is pretty bad for what it is. Iirc its gets about 100mv of ripple of the 12V rail.
  5. The Scythe Fuma, its better than the D15 so it murders anything in its price range ($55) and its only 149MM tall.
  6. I said based. They definitely aren't the same. http://www.orionpsudb.com/news/seasonics-completely-new-platform-appears-in-units-by-evga-and-cyonic "If you look at the component layout, it does look a bit like the G platform with some components moved around a bit:"
  7. 1. To be honest I have no idea and haven't even heard of that, although I've been knowledgeable about PC's for about 2 years, but given that I am just now hearing about that I would say no. 2. Yes, it just has to be a 2.0 port so you might need to swap out the keyboard and mouse at times if you only have 2. Also you could just get a 5.25 optical drive sit in the case somewhere while everything is installing and then uninstall it when Windows is done..
  8. 520 watts would be enough even with you overclocking the GPU. The S12II/M12II is definitely better than the original CX series, I would knock that right of of your list. As for the new ones they are great and I would say definitely better than the S12II/M12II or the old CX units, the only real downside to the build quality which isn't top of the line but you can't complain much about it for its price and what you are getting already.
  9. Reviews on amazon when it comes to PSU's don't mean anything. They have no way to properly test it out or review it and people are likely to remain quiet if they are happy but complain if they aren't. Its a fine PSU otherwise I wouldn't be recommending it, I wouldn't recommend products I wouldn't buy myself. Also checking the amazon link out it only has two negative reviews, not nearly as many as you made sound like there was. The Voltage regulation is out of spec on the 12V, mediocre quality, hold up time isn't good. Its a unit I would definitely pass on you can afford it and given that its at the price it is I would definitely pass and for a cheaper unit I would go for a XFX TS or a Seasonic S12II/M12II. http://it.pcpartpicker.com/product/vRmLrH/xfx-power-supply-p1550sxxb9 http://it.pcpartpicker.com/product/nB3RsY/seasonic-power-supply-s12ii620bronze The G/XTR is better than the GS, the GS is actually based on the G series but is somehow worst and I would say they are better than the GQ. The G2 is definitely better however, its one of the best units you can get. The VS iirc is worst than all of the units mentioned in this paragraph.

"Ditch the B1, its based on a platform that is…

Its not a problem, I was just curious as to why.
  11. The Define S is the perfect case for you. It has everything you want.
  12. There is not a yes or no answer to this. It will all depend on the game, the graphical settings, and the FPS you want.
  13. There is no yes or answer to this question, if someone says so they don't know what they are talking about when it comes to bottlenecking. It will all depend on the game, the graphical settings, and the FPS you want. Without knowing any of that there isn't a clear and cut answer to this question.
  14. I'm using a M65 Pro. I'm also using a cloth mouse $1 mouse pad and it has no issues with it. Also it uses a optical sensor, not a laser one.
  15. XFX units aren't known to fail aftera month...You mean XFX is basically the same as a Seasonic since they are the OEM/make the designs for all of their units, not the other way around. Good stuff isn't cheap. If you think its expensive why buy a cheapo PSU now and then buy another more expensive one in the future when you can just buy a good unit now and save yourself the money and hassle. I would definitely avoid that Coolmaster unit at all costs since you can;t find a review for it. My rule of thumb is if you can't find a review for it you shouldn't use it. The XTR and the G are most likely much much better units than that Coolmaster unit. Also you PC is definitely high end, you have a great CPU despite being a few gens old and you are going to get a great GPU.
  16. The reason why people recommend high PSU's is because its something you shouldn't cheap out on. A high end build should have a high end PSU to go along with it. Also your PSU probably hasn't done great performance wise and the ripple could be out spec causing damage to parts and overall was probably a crap unit that was out spec in other places too. I would go with this if you can afford it, its a good PSU all around and will last you years to come. http://it.pcpartpicker.com/product/9G7wrH/xfx-power-supply-p1650bbefx If it has to exactly 90 or below I would go with this. http://it.pcpartpicker.com/product/DPCwrH/seasonic-power-supply-ssr550rm
  17. Evga has quite a few not so good PSU's. They have the W1 line, the B1 line, the NexB1, the NexG. Also the XFX XT isn't a good unit despite being a Seasonic design. Also Seasonic has the S122II and the M12II, not bad units but they are group regulated and are about 6 years old, you can do better than that. Brand is meaningless when it comes to PSU's.
  18. I would say it will last for years to come, I never heard of a CPU dying from overclocking provided you aren't stupid about it. Its going to last 4 years easily.

May I ask why you replied on my profile instead of the thread lol? Well I would just use the stock HSF/cooler, its good enough. For the PSU I would get a evga B2, despite being one number apart the B1 and B2 are totally different, For the SSD I would go for a PNY CS221, its apretty good SSD and will get very similar real world performance compared to the Evo 850. http://pcpartpicker.com/list/df73Cy
  20. The Fuma wins for performance hands down. The Shadow Rock 2 will be quieter but the Fuma isn't loud. The Fuma is definitely the better cooler here. http://www.overclockers.com/scythe-fuma-heatsink-review/
  21. I would strongly suggest getting a 450 watt Corsair CX, its a much much better unit, the best you are going to get for its price. That copy of Window isn't legit for that cheap.. I would get a GTX 950 over the R7 370
  22. Ditch the B1, its based on a platform that is ~10 years old. You don't need a aftermarket HSF. While the Evo 850 is good, I own one myself, its current price is too high. Too much for a non Z170 motherboard. What is this for?
