  1. The PSU isn't selected by what task you are going. They both have similar performance and build quality so really neither is going to win there. The real difference between them is the fan with the Evga G2 uses i a ballbearing which would wear out faster than the RMx's fan which is a FDB and will get louder over time although it does have a zero fan mode on it and a 7 year warranty so its not really a big issue. Also speaking of warranty the RMx warranty is 3 years longer. Both are great PSU's but if they cost about the same I would go for the RMx.
  2. I wouldn't call it cheap. The caps on it aren't a problem either and the build quality is actually fair decent and it even has a 10 year warranty which shows Evga has some faith it in. The issue with them is that they are group regulated so they can't output just about all of their power on the 12V rail which is a issue since if you are going to 650 watts you are likely to be using a lot of power on the 12V and there meh voltage regulation and that you can generally get better units for the price. > FSP is usually pretty darn good at building things well, and this unit is no exception. I saw no major issues at all. I do still have some reservations about Capxon though, and even though I'm on the fence yet with them I think I'll remove a half point for that. Especially since the original version used all Japanese parts http://www.jonnyguru.com/modules.php?name=NDReviews&op=Story6&reid=442
  3. How are they crap? They definitely aren't crap.
  4. 1. Source? Its rated to do only 30C at full load but you don't buy a CXM to run at full load. well hopefully, and it has zero problems going past 40C. https://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/Corsair/CX600M/6.html 2. Sure the caps aren't great but they definitely aren't bad. Bad would be like Diablotek. https://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/Corsair/CX600M/4.html 3. So? Your super small sample size isn't a final verdict on all CX PSU's and if they all was blowing up no one would be buying them if it has reviews consisting of it blowing up and I wouldn't be saying its not a bomb. Evga G2's and other high end PSU's have gone out before too.
  5. There are horror stories about every part out there including PSU's like a Evga G2, if you go by horror stories you wouldn't be buying any part. There isn't a high chance of getting a faulty unit, that is just a myth based on nothing.
  6. Its not terrible like rumors make it out to be, its a mediocre unit. its not a bomb, crap, etc. If you don't already have it I wouldn't buy it. I would get the new CXM series which consists of the 450/550/650 watt units and are actually fairly good and imo even better than a Seasonic S12II ir a M12II.
  7. Please tell me how the W1 is somehow worse than a Dialotek PSU. http://www.jonnyguru.com/modules.php?name=NDReviews&op=Story5&reid=187 >12 volts, at 664 millivolts takes the cake Do you smell the fired parts becasue I do. http://www.jonnyguru.com/modules.php?name=NDReviews&file=print&reid=384 > Would I buy it myself? If I was on that tight a budget, yes. I would. Again... you could do a heck of a lot worse, and not just at this price point. http://www.hardocp.com/article/2010/12/17/diablotek_phd650_650w_power_supply_review/9 >Using the term Build Quality implies that there is some quality in this unit's construction. That would, perhaps, be a bit of a stretch of the imagination in regards to this unit. >Since the Diablotek PHD650 failed ~1 minute into Test #3 (75% load), the best way to describe the load tests results as cheap, inferior, junky, lousy, shoddy, sub-par, trashy, useless, worthless, etc. >The PHD650 is maybe a 300 watt power supply that had a 650 watt label slapped on it >The Diablotek PHD650 is only a 300 watt power supply with a 140mm fan. So, barring any catastrophes this unit should be quiet. But if you have read this far you know already that this whole review has been a catastrophe so it seems to be no surprise that this unit was not quiet. At 300 watts, which is likely this close to this units real maximum output, it was louder than any other 650 watts unit we have reviewed. >It has been a long time since we have seen such a useless power supply come through our review process. In fact the only unit I remember off the top of my head that comes close to matching this piece of crap was the Ultra X2 750W EE (Exploding Edition). >With the PHD650, Diablotek seemingly tried to polish a turd with a turd and as such we got the expected outcome, a pile of crap. Given the horrible build quality of the unit and poor component selection of the unit that is hardly a startling result. With a current price of ~$49.99, users would be better off taking their cash and setting it on fire rather than buying this unit. There is quite literally no price point or situation where the Diablotek PHD650 should be a consideration for users as it failed almost every test possible today. Retailers and e-tailers should be ashamed to be selling such a product. http://www.johnnylucky.org/power-supplies/psu-lemon-list.html Those are the only two Diablotek PSU's that have reviews and there there are the $30 cases with powersupplys that would likely be much worse.
  8. I was referring to the Corsair CXM, not the Coguar. I thought OP was comparing a Cougar PSU to a Corsair CXM. Didn't even know they had a unit called CXM.
  9. If I was you and you aren't overclocking or running something like a FX 9590 and are in the U.S I would just get a cooler like the Scythe Fuma and remove the fans on it and see how it cools or set them stupidly low for totally silent cooling. This would work with a HSF since it uses its heat to move the liquid around where as with a custom loop it would require a pump which is noise and rad's aren't great for passive cooling.
  10. The BQ has ZERO reviews and its from HEC who really has zero great units would have to be god tier to be all around better than the CXM so it would likely be a downgrade.
  11. Its a pretty decent unit. I'm doubting you would find anything better than it for its price in Chile so I would go with it.
  12. The W1 isn't worse than a DIablotek and definitely isn't ultra shitty.
  13. If you are in the U.S or UK and aren't on a tight budget for a rendering build you will want to avoid the AM3+ platform if you want the best bang for your buck which they ironically fail at and the best performance possible.
  14. Performance wise the Sycthe Fuma is actually capable of being better while a TON cheaper.
  15. Nay. Its loud and doesn't perform good compared to the competition, its sort of a old HSF.
  16. You could do it for ~$300 or you could end up spending $1000 on it.
  17. No. You can do it but there could be clearnace issues since the fans aren't offset and there isn't much room height wise. I wouldn't take the risk.
  18. If you are referring to the NexG1 its because its group regulated which means it can't output just about all of its power on the 12V rail which isn't good since if you buy a 650 watt PSU you are likely running two GPU's which use power from the 12V rail. On top of it has not so good voltage regulation and average performance. The only reason why Evga is really selling it anymore is because of their brand name and the high end PSU's associated with it, it being gold which everyone thinks is the greatest thing since sliced bread, and it being only 1 letter off from the famous G2 seires. Also most people are in countries that have a broad range of PSU's to pick from which is why most people say to avoid it since you usually can get better for its price range. It sounds like it would be the best choice for you in your country unless you mind linking to a merchant there.
  19. No. Its a mediocre unit. Not bad but not good. It currently doesn't have a good bang for your buck in the U.S since you can get a 450 watt Corsair CXM for only about $10 more which is miles better.
  20. That isn't how bottlenecking works...A i7 6700K at 5Ghz is capable of bottlenecking the RX 470. Bottlenecknig all depends on the graphical settings, the game, the area of the game, and your overclock on parts. Plus its meaningless if happens past your monitor refresh rate or if you are happy with the FPS you get. There is no magical balance to a build or anything.
  21. The RMx/RMi does. Also I wasn't suggesting them, I was just naming off units better than the GS.
