a) gloss over the fact that it has FreeSync
b) not use FreeSync at all, using a 1080 instead
c) hope it has G-Sync (hint: if it had it, it'd be much more costly)
d) complain about tearing when it has an adaptive refresh-rate technology inbuilt which you are not bloody using

??

This is the kind of thing that makes people call you an nVidia shill for, mate.

No FreeSync testing on a Freesync monitor... why?

This review is really subpar:
Freesync monitor tested on an NVidia card. Complaining about tearing, even though it has Freesync. Not testing or disclosing the Freesync interval, which is very interesting for the consumer. This monitor is supposedly based on the new Quantum Dot Samsung panel. This was not tested or disclosed. Monitor was tested with "pro" calibration tools, but not calibrated? If this was truly a QD panel, why not test the wider colour gamut? This is a half assed review, that just needed to be done, it seems. Let someone else review it, if you cannot be bothered then.

Oh fuck off Linus. This is starting to make me reconsider wanting to buy a subscription to the new site (waiting on a decent Vessel replacement). This is just completely false.
 
People who want high refresh rates generally want it for FPS' like CS:GO, Overwatch etc. Are you really trying to claim that two Fury X's couldn't run either of these games at that resolution? Not to mention that they're currently releasing more GPUs... In as few as a couple days they have a major event. It is a $700 monitor and not all of AMD's cards are $200. I have a 390X, does this apparently not exist?
 
You even complain about the tearing in the video. How is it not relevant to mention that there will not be tearing on AMD cards?
 
I'm beginning to take these complaints about Linus being biased seriously. The latest WAN show had the absolutely massive update to the drivers ignored until literally after the outro. 

Your system should be enough to play the games at 4k low/medium, and to me that looks much better than 1080 or 1440.
 
Id probably keep the monitor and just get a faster gpu soon.

I'd definitely go for 144Hz 24".
 
27" is too big for 1080p IMO and I don't really get the point of a curved display unless it's very large or ultra wide. 

A TV will be 60Hz, yes. Its those higher refresh rates like 120 that are fake. The main problem with a TV is getting it to cooperate with a computer and the input lag that TV's inherently have. If it has a game mode, that helps. 

Why would you even buy a 1080 for 1080p resolution... Even a 1070 is an overkill.

Nvidia limits the amount of VRM on purpose as part of planned obsolescence.
Nvidia cards run hotter than most people think.
The GTX 970 memory nightmare will backfire eventually when games actually start using the "broken" VRAM.
 
Freesync/g-sync is a bit overhyped and isn't worth the 100 bucks nvidia asks for it.
Mobile g-sync is just freesync with another fancy name.
 
Android phones with a physical keyboard are actually great and need to come back.
Clamshell smartphones need to be available where i live.
 
Intel 1151 platform is overpriced.
Fighting piracy causes sales to go down instead of up.
 
Ps: i'm not an AMD fanboy, i just hate a lot of things nvidia does and they have imo a better rep than they deserve. Another unpopulair opinion of me

My old Creative X-Fi PCI card sounds clearly superior to the Realtek ALC892 in my motherboard no matter how many times I try to convince myself that it doesn't. Most people who post about CPU bottlenecks don't understand CPU bottlenecks, and/or overstate the effects thereof. The 2014 reboot of Thief is wildly underrated. I don't like GTA V, CS:GO, or Bethesda's open-world games. I don't care if all-in-one liquid coolers are a "good value" compared to air. Windows 10 is better than Windows 7.

If by overclock you mean half my cores and run at 3.6GHz max, then yes.
 
But, I was able to get this i7 up to 4.4GHz. It's just that it didn't do much.
