  1. I have not and do not plan to use the drive until I'm able to recover it, will not using it and waiting have an effect then?
  2. To put a long story short, I deleted a large amount of files from my external hard drive when I was sorting my files and removing old/unnecessary files. After looking through some data recovery programs it seems I can recover most if not all of the files. What I'm wondering is does it matter how long I wait before I actually recover files. Its been about a week, if I continue to wait will it affect recovery? I'm guessing that it wont affect it as long as I don't use the hard drive and write over any of the deleted files, but would like some more expert advice regarding this topic. Currently I am waiting to get a hard drive for my laptop that is at least 1tb to fit the deleted files as I only currently have a 256gb SSD. It also will take about 1-2 days just to recover the files, so that is also an issue currently as my house is quite busy so I wont be able to really do the full recovery yet.
  3. So what new/upcoming games currently use Direct X 12 or are going to be using them? With this in mind how will this be affecting GPUs that dont support direct x 12? I ask this because im a noob to PC gaming and I'm building my first pc currently for budget gaming and am wondering if i should get the r9 290 or the 380x sapphire because I'm not sure if the direct x 12 is needed yet or if the r9 290 will support it. Im thinking maybe to go for the 390 powercolor since its roughly about the same as a r9 290 from what i have seen in price. What are your suggestions?
  4. No reason, i've just spent alot of time looking up AMD. Im beginning to sort out the AMD stuff and want to get into the NVIDIA stuff when i can too. Do you have any suggestions for GPUs i can look at that meets my budget (200-250 USD).
  5. Ah ok thanks. Since this is my first pc, do all cards (referenced or not) make alot of noise?
  6. How can i tell if a GPU is referenced or not? (specifically the 290/380/390)
  7. Ok i dont really plan on overclocking but I will take that in mind, also looking at pcpartpicker i see alot of the same cards (color and name) but they have like different ending numbers for their serial number. Does that mean anything i should look at? Such as this page http://pcpartpicker.com/search/?q=r9+290x+tri+x
  8. Hmm okay thanks for the clarification, I will look more into the 290, I'll probably wait till christmas time to see if i can snag a cheaper on atleast near my budget. About the reference GPU why are they considered not as adequate as the non-referenced?
  9. So you would recommend against it? This is the 380 i planned on getting http://pcpartpicker.com/part/msi-video-card-r9380gaming4g Or 380x http://pcpartpicker.com/part/sapphire-video-card-100383ntocl
  10. How this 290? http://pcpartpicker.com/part/sapphire-video-card-100362sr
  11. Actually 1 last question, does the manufacturer matter?
  12. Alright thanks alot! Cleared up alot of misunderstanding.
  13. So I just started getting into pc stuff. Getting ready to build a PC for the first time, but i decided since I'm investing money into this i might as well learn some stuff. The GPUs im loking at are AMD. Can somone explain to me what the difference are between 280,280x,380,380x,390,390x? Im confused about this "rebrand" thing or whatever it is. Anyways what i really want to know is which one is better for me as i am building a gaming pc. I just want to know compared to each other which is better? I'm leaning towards the 380x since it is a good price and I've read it performs well, but is the 290 better? Im honestly very lost, so any help is greatly appreciated to clear up my misunderstandings.
