  1. I'm wondering if I could get the panels through Ada fruit industries and the encoders then ? I really have no need for these useless add ons they package, it's like buying electronics with bloatware. Maybe the commercial displays don't have the useless add-ons?
  2. Being as smart TV software support is lacking especially long term and I would just rather run the software on a separate more powerful media server I can upgrade easily. What are some good options for non smart 4k & 8k tv's?
  3. I've decided to go with sliding server rack trays and open air chassis. And run the hard drives in open air backplane mounts vertical tooless. I can 1u fan mounts above blowing down. Easy access and allows my choice of fans. I can even use feros or Thermaltake but may look at the work benches.
  4. Hmm, looks like a challenge. I had that reasoning in mind but still made an attempt to tap the communities creativity. I'l figure something out.
  5. Probably a general question but I'm looking for server rack mount cases that are whisper quite. I don't see a lot of options for water cooling and such and I'm tired of towers. I'm looking to build a studio desk with rack mount enclosures on the bottom sides and don't want to listen to jet engines in the background. One or more will be storage. I wouldn't mind sticking with air cooling for maintenance hassle and don't mind if there 6-8u cases. I just don't have the time or skill to do the custom metal work. Thanks.
  6. I' llooking for a portable router that can wifi direct connection with my phone. Currently I'm using a note 5 but will upgrade come spring and I'm on cricket wireless unlimited unthrotled plan. They offer no Hotspot on this plan so I been using PdaNet+ to get around this. My question is, is there a portable router that can wifi direct connection and share the connection to other devices, or USB tethering and share data connection?
  7. Just looking at general add in cards that might be cool and some pcie clarification. Ive been looking at the msi godlike carbon, x99-e ws and the Asus z170 ws. I see pcie specs listing like 16x0x0x16 and such does that mean the other slots are inactive or shared bandwidth? I say this cause things have changed since the days of agp slots. The other is add in cards, anything cool and useful you would recommend or has everything went external like the razer ripsaw and external dacs instead of sound cards ? It's not that I haven't looked over the past few months, just looking to clarify or confirm my understanding to make sure I haven't misread hardware capabilities since 2001, which is the last time I done a scratch build. I just feel like motherboard specifications are more misleading than cut & dry like they use to be so looking for input.
  8. What's the best UV LED lighting for a pc case atm ?, I'm looking for a high intensity glow :-)
  9. Trying to find some compression fittings that are shiny copper and only thing I've seen so far is primochill candy copper anodized which is the style I'm looking for but not the color, and alphacool in shiny copper but can only find the 90 & 45 degree fitting for. Any ideas guys ? I'm trying to stick with a copper theme and really just want the straight fitting. I seen ek has one but it's only showing soft tubing compatible.
  10. Found this step by step posted online and thought it might be useful to someone wanting a cheap sturdy server cabinet. http://tombuildsstuff.blogspot.com/2014/02/diy-rack-server-plans.html?m=1
  11. Meh, I like the design thou, I want to get a couple and stick them on sliding rails in a locking server cabinet. Not concerned about the money and don't have the spare time atm to justify trying to fab my own. When I only have carpentry skills and industrial mechanic skills under my belt. No tool & dye or sheet metal working skills, I think id spend more on bandaids that what the case would cost. I know I can do the same with plywood and acrylic but sometimes I want nice things too.
  12. Most companies trying to get of the ground don't have the luxury of throwing millions into production equipment to lower cost of the units. I am excited about it not for the concept of modding. If I was, I'd just fashion one myself in the shop. I just like the clean easy access solid layout that I can think of a thousand different ways to apply than just hanging on a wall.
  13. Found a new case on kick starter thought everyone might like to see. Been a while since I seen a nice looking wall mount case available :-) https://feros.us/
