Both good. I've give the edge to the cheaper one for general use, SN750 is a bit faster and more efficient for heavy use. You should check my resources (signature) to learn more.

This community is honestly the nicest and most caring bunch of people I have ever interacted with on the internet. Every one of you that I've talked to has been nice, and always supportive. As dumb as that may sound it means a lot to me, because through all the shit I go through every day, it's nice to know that for part of my free time, I can enjoy communicating with others about things we have a passion about.

As for the title of the post, I say that because I keep trying to give Reddit the credit others think they deserve as a good community, but I've come to the conclusion that they aren't. I posted my computer build to the /r/BuildAPC subreddit and immediately got shit on the parts I chose and got not one, not two, but three different PMs telling me that I was "a dumbass faggot that doesn't know shit". I do know what I'm talking about, and I do have reason behind why I build the computers I build, but to the bunch of "nice" people that Reddit is supposed to be, they certainly do not care. What they do seem to care about though is bringing people down to a low. Now there is a few subreddits that seem actually nice, but for the remaining 99% not so much.

This is just my experience, and in no way did I mean to offend any of you that are on Reddit. I'm just venting essentially :p

Ah yes I have orderd a new monitor which is to come in about 10 days but for now as of the past 2 days I have not experienced the issue after changing the HDMI port on my TV so I guess it may have been the TV's HDMI port that was faulty? But I will test with the new monitor and update u on the results. Ty

Welp... so i left home in a hurry and forgot to turn off my pc, a friend told me there was a power loss in the area so that may be the cause, also for the last two months or so i'm noticing a surge in eletricity sometimes when i turn off the power supply, some times it was realy strong so that to may be the cause too, well my biggest fear here is the graphic card the mobo and cpu well i was planning to change them anyway... so i'm getting someone i know to check what's lost and whats not here and i will update you guys here pray for me T.T

Bloody-George got a reaction from CRA5HMAN in Helping a friend with a new gaming rig-CPU Question
The 2700 is a bit overkill for gaming, listening to music and watching videos. None of the games you mentioned put a lot of pressure on the CPU, and the extra cores and threads of the Ryzen 7 would only make a difference in productivity scenarios. I'd get the Ryzen 5 chip. However, if the price of the 3600 is similar in Canada, and if your friend decides to use productivity-orientated tasks in the future, then the 2700 is a good choice. But only if.

The MSI B450 Tomahawk is a great choice for a good price. I've got one myself, and it's a damn great mobo.

As for the graphics card, the 1660Ti is more expensive than the Radeon choice as far as I know. The difference in performance is incremental, so I'd stick with the RX 590.

Just get the Gaming OC unless you really want the aesthetics of the Aorus card. The Gaming OC one runs very cool, has great performance for 1440p and 4k and it still looks good as hell. And, from what you tell us, it's much cheaper.

The Picasso IV was one of the best that came out for the Amiga--I just wish I could have added some of the modules to it. The Picasso96 software was pretty nice and it allowed me to create custom display modes and resolutions. I did lose a few, lesser used screen modes and the ability to peel down the different screens on the Amiga--the stock GFX chipset allowed you to drag down different screens displaying them all well even if they were at different resolutions at the same time.

I had two A4000/040 systems before. The first was in the standard desktop case and it was a nice step up for me from my A2000. But we had flooding in the FLGS I was co-owner of and the building's insurance paid for my replacement. So I ordered another A4000/040 (refurbished) from Software Hut but this one was in the Elbox Tower case with the larger daughterboard. That was my main system until I ended up handing all my old Amiga stuff to someone in the user's group to take care of a debt--I'm pretty sure I got boned in the deal.

I also wish I had a pic of all my old Amigas but we were still using film cameras at that time and it cost money to take and develop pictures.

I don't remember everything I had in there but I remember that the motherboard was fully populated with RAM that was hot-glued for some weird reason. It had my Picasso IV RTG card, An X-Surf II Ethernet card so I could surf via DSL, a Catweasel card to hook up PC floppy drives, maybe a Buddah IDE card, and possibly a SCSI card.

My biggest bottleneck was that I had the stock Commodore '040 board installed--I really wished I could have afforded good accelerator in there like one of the '060+PPC boards.

There should be a pic of my old A2000 earlier in this thread though.

There you go. That combination is excellent for gaming/streaming. Even less than that would be ok, at least for R6: Siege. But yeah, that's a hell of a rig. Only change I'd make would be adding more SSD storage since sometimes the difference in price between a 240GB and a 480GB SSD is minimal. But if you're fine with that capacity, go ahead and click "purchase," my friend. You'll be happy with it, I can assure you.

Edit: One small thing: how much cheaper is a 2060 Super compared to a 2070? If you wanna save some euros, the difference in perfomance between the two cards is not that substantial; so a 2060 Super would be very interesting for you.

Bloody-George got a reaction from Revanchist1ab in How many fans are too many?
Having 1-2 fans in the front and 1 in the back is enough for good airflow. Of course, how many you'd want depends on your situation: is your case too small or too hot? Do you use a CPU watercooler? Do you mind the noise all these fans will make?

Also, try not to add more exhaust fans than intake fans. Always keep an equal number or a 2-to-1 ratio of intake-to-exhaust fans, so that the air pressure is optimal.

And be aware that 3+5 fans will probably result in an extremely noisy rig. If you don't care about that, go for it.

Cool to see old hardware. My old A4000 had the Picasso IV RTG Card for the graphics. It used a Cirrus Logic GD5446. It was a great card/GPU. It had 4 MB of video RAM--a lot for those days.

How did I not find this thread till now? Maybe I did and forgot idk. Anyways here is a good chunk of my older components.

My old abit AM2 bored I pulled out of an garage sale custom built PC. the GPU, HDD and ram where missing (the ram you see there i put it later to test components and run the system abit) but the case, CPU, a couple of IDE Lightscibe DVD drives and the PSU where there. Don't have the case anymore unfortunately but I still have the rest.

The Athlon that came with the system (sorry the pictures are blurry my phone camera is trash and refuses to focus)

A, no joke, GT 420. It was a slow card even back in it's day but I think we all know why.

Some old laptop GPU's and CPU's (I think they are mostly Pentium 3 and 4s) a Pentium 4 640, a Core 2 Duo E6550 and some old laptop ram.

And finally the most interesting old part I own a passively cooled  8600GTS? from Asus.

I have a few other old parts laying around but they are mostly LGA 775 boards and old heatsinks. I also have some old consoles too like a Dreamcast and N64 but I felt like those didn't really fit this thread.

Boy, this thread is amazing! Incredible that I had never checked it out, and it dates back to 2013. Some of the PCs and parts that you all have posted here are unbelievable! Beautiful to see so many people with old-timey rigs still going on.
I'll share pictures of my very first PC, born in 1995. I recovered it in 2016 and have been trying to refurbish it, but it's been hard due to scarce availability of old parts in my country. I've had two PSUs fail and it's harder and harder to find good IDE hard drives.
This PC has a Pentium P54C 100Mhz processor and a "graphics card" (more like a 2D graphics accelerator) by Cirrus Logic. The whole list is in my signature below.

    Here are some pics:

This is a shot of the motherboard with the CPU at the bottom, RAM sticks at the top left corner, the graphics card under it, and the sound card at the very bottom left. The stick in the brown slot in the middle is a CPU cache card.

Here's a pic of the Pentium I P54C. A beast that never really roared, to be honest. Quite a run-of-the-mill chip at the time.

And here's a close-up shot of the Cirrus Logic GD3454 VGA, with its whopping 1MB of VRAM that could be expanded if you included memory chips in the brown banks on the right. Pretty neat feature that ceased to exist.

It was surreal finding this computer after such a long time, but I still feel a little sad that I haven't been able to bring it back to its former glory - or lack thereof hehehe.
Still, it's great just to have it lying about for the sake of nostalgia.

Here's my BBC Micro, (one of three) circa 1981 ... configured with twin 40/80 switchable 5.25" drives, a 6502 co-processor and a datacentre fitted. That gives it the ability to have a "winchester" hard drive inside which is mimicked on a CF card and it can read Fat 32 USB sticks.

The "joyboard" project is a system whereby I traced all the tracks on the keyboard and wired them out to a system of jacks which I cabled to mirror the keyboard traces. The net result is I can hook up home made "joysticks" and buttons so I can play all those games with awkward keys. When I was a teen, I worked to assemble "brand new" 8086 PC's with a "turbo boost" of 8Mhz with 640K of ram fitted with a 5Meg Winchester hard drive. Man... this thread makes me feel old ?

SSD is great for OS, games, programs, and frequently used data or workloads benefiting from fast load times - photo and video editing, databases etc.

HDDs are great for storage of large volumes of data that isn't accessed as often - finished projects, media files, backups etc. They're also great for NAS setups and generally everywhere where you need large capacity.

These days HDDs only really make sense when you're buying 3TB+ capacity drives, as 1TB SSDs, even NVMe ones, are ridiculously cheap right now.
