  1. good luck! I hope it fixes your problem. Even if it doesn't its a lot better card. Keeping it might not be a bad idea, if you can build a new system soon.
  2. i don't know if I would run out and buy a new card without knowing the old one was the problem for sure. You might buy a new card and have the same problems. That's why I asked if there is another system you can test the card in.
  3. Did it still BSOD after switching the Power Supply? And have you tested the card in another system?
  4. I got it to POST finally! now my only problem is only slot four will work. any other slot and it wont post again. What a pain!
  5. OK, so maybe the board isnt dead? i found a pin on the socket that was slightly bent (no far but who knows). anyways I'm starting to think it is a memory problem. depending on the slot and type of memory i put in, the orange light doesn't come on. Also sometimes the gpu fan will spins up and sometimes it wont again depending on the ram slot filled? Any Ideas?
  6. i guessing it's the board :(. I haven't tried another CPU. I have a Pentium D i can try. I don't even know if the board supports it.
  7. it's non-ecc memory. I tried pulling the cmos battery and setting the jumper reset for an hour. same result.
  8. So I bought a q6600 and 4GBs of DDR2 and a XFX 680i motherboard. I can't get the damm board to POST. I know the GPU is good as I have tested it in another board. I have tried just about everything I can think of. One stick of ram in each slot, different types of RAM. reseated the CPU. Tried another power supply. I just can't figure it out. Is there any way of testing the board to know for should it is dead? All I get when I turn it one is three LED light (blue, orange, and green). No Display or anything??
  9. unfortunately, the BIOS for this board is very basic. There seems to be no adjustments to change the CPU fans at all. That's part of the reason i'm confused. You can monitor temp and fan RPMs, but can't change anything.
  10. I recently built a PC using an HP XW8600 Motherboard and used two Xeon E5440s. The problem I'm having is I can't get the BIOS or board to get the CPU fan control properly. I'm on the latest BIOS from HP. I've tried using SpeedFan with no luck. I'm out of ideas. I've used HWMonitor to view temps and it looks like the CPU sensor on the motherboard controls the Fan speed and not the temp reading from the CPUs. I just don't understand how to fix it. Any Help or even Ideas to try would be greatly appreciated.
  11. @f22luke do you have any trouble with fan control on your build? I've tried using something like speedfan, but had no luck. No matter what load or temp i'm at may fans idle around 1500-ish RPM, and they are like 4000 RPM 4-Wire PWM fans. Any ideas?
  12. I'm glad you figured out the 6-Pin PCI-E HP garbage. Sorry I did see your problems sooner I could have helped. On a side note, Managed to over-clock my dual E5440s via BSEL pin mod. here is a cinebench for ya.
  13. SWEET!!!! I got my Dual E5440s BSEL modded to 3.4Ghz. This thing is so fast for so cheap... Thank You Linus! To bad it wont let me post any pics..
  14. Finally got my system up and running. Using a HP XW8600 motherboard with two E5440s. The board just bearly fits in my Antec P280. There is a connector thats "LOOKS" like a 6-pin pcie on the motherboard, but its not. Its for the FD-DIMMs. You can use a regular PSU, but you have to repin a 6-pin pcie connector.
