  1. Yes, you are far form overloading the circuit. 20Amp breaker, -12Amp A/C (pretending its drawing the fill ratting) = 8Amps 8ax110v= 880w so you could run a 300w sound system no problem.
  2. Cool,, but can't seem to find where i would buy one in Canada...? Anyone had better luck?
  3. I thought about that as well, at first I thought it would not work for what i wanted as i could not seem to add users form the mac to the permissions on the first attempt, and I did not want it to be open read and right for everyone as the information i wanted to put on it would be work confidential type stuff. However after your suggestion I tried again and found that i could share it for the windows user only, and then connect to in on the mac(and other windows) as the original windows users. All in all it works great, i highly recommend this to anyone looking to do some home network storage, it someone secure, decent speed, and as much storage as you can fit in your case all without the cost of a NAS, you can RAD the drives if your system supports it as well.
  4. I also think that may be a little over complicated just to host some files on a network, also headroom would be a concern.
  5. But would Homegroup all access for Mac computers.
  6. So my question is, Can I run a NAS or file server or something in the background of my main home PC. This would need to work across Windows and Mac, running on a Windows 10 computer. The end idea would be to have 2 drives running Raid 1 in the computer that are then accessible on the network to both host my work files and to be a backup location for my laptop and PCs. Has anyone done this? does anyone know of a way of doing this?
  7. Hello Community, So I want a home NAS to back up my various computers and laptops and also to have my work files on the network so I can switch what computer i am using and not have to bugger around with emailing it to myself or saving to a stick. I know Dropbox and other cloud stuff is nice, but I really want my information on hardware I own. My question is: does anyone know of or have any decent pre-built NAS? Price matters, I want this to be a lower budget project, I don't really want to build a PC and go the free NAS route, I like the idea of the out of the box, (maybe have to stick a few WD reds in), plug in and go. What are your experiences, what have you bought and loved/hated, what would you recommend?
  8. i am dume that is the wrong way. Like this: http://www.amazon.ca/Startech-MUYHSFmm-Headset-Splitter-Adapter-F/dp/B0058DOWH6 sorry
  9. Ok, let me see if i understand, your computer has one connector for a mic and another for the headphones, yeah? and you have a pare of headphones with a mic build into them and one TRRS connector. So No, the connector you linked to would not do that, But yes you can get an adapter that would make it posable. you need to find an adapt going the other way for one, and need to make sure it splitting the mic form the headphones and not splitting the input, they would look the same but be wired very differently. 10. Most decent manufacturers of speakers will have a list of Amps they tested with there speakers on there website, that would be the place I would start as those Amps will most likely get you the best sound out of your new speakers.

    Headphone stand

As someone who Sets up and Mixes Live sound for a living there is only one wall mounted Headphone Stand for me, a $3.00 coat hook form the hardware store, comes in ever shape size and color you could want, cheep, and even has a spot to hang the cable.
  12. I can't be the only one, can I? Refreshing the tracking information page every 40 seconds, making threatening gestures towards the NCIX Order Information page because 4 days later it still has not marked my order as shipped . The shipping when you buy is always like: oh 3-5 days, you will have it so fast so. So fast its like why go out of my way to drive 5 blocks to get it when it could be at my door so soon, and hey they will even give me the shipping free! Then after ordering I realize its fracking Saturday, that's 2 days added to the wait time. Then they take their sweet time shipping it, generaly a day, unless you're NCIX who apparently is making sweet, sweet processing love to my order and doesn't want to ship too fast in case the order thinks they were just in it for its parts. Then Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday go by and its Friday. Friday is the most stressful day, because you know if it does not come today you are boned and have to wait the whole weekend, its like walking up to the sky-train to get home late at night and seeing the damned gates and the over tired Transit guy saying we are closed for the night. Then you have to either wait on a park bench for 5am for it to open again, or spend 3 hours on the drunk-bus to Surrey. Mail never comes to me on Mondays, I think the postman is always too hung over from his weekend. Then that week it finally comes, 9-10 days latter, 1,000s of page refreshes, and all I would have to had to do was say in-store-pick-up and get my lazy ass off the sofa. Anyway, who else does shipping online orders drive crazy?
  13. huh, i see what you mean, like a USB volume control device. would be cool, you could make it look like anything, maybe have a mute, or preset audio levels. never soon one, want one now,,,, someone should make one
  14. Lol your tower makes it look so small, Yes get a new desk that all 4 corners of you PC will fit on I don't know about the UK, but here in Canada BC, there are a million computer desk for free on Craigslist, that is were i would look.
  15. I have always found it funny to take a picture of my desk. haha, get it my desk as my desktop picture. I work in Theatre so i take pictures of the desks with the control consoles for Lights or Sound looks even better and is the same joke. Be cool to see one of a carpenters work bench, or a mechanic tool chest. the best part is if you take it it will be one of a kind, no one but you will have it, and its very personal. Anyway, that's my idea for you.
