  1. I see that now, lol. Thanks for the suggestions everyone. It seems like if I want any upgrade I'll have to switch off of Verizon, cause their options are either entry level or flagship smartphones, and I really just want a mid-tier with great battery life. If it ends up making sense to switch networks, I'll probably get a Zenfone 3 Zoom.
  2. I've been looking at Android phones for several hours, but I can't find what I'm looking for. That probably means it doesn't exist, but here goes... I want to buy a mid to high-mid range smartphone with as much battery life as my current phone (Droid Turbo), but with the same level of performance. More performance or camera improvements would be nice, but I don't really need them. I'd be fine with taking a step down in resolution, I don't really need 1440p. I've had trouble finding any phones that meet these criteria, and are compatible with US 4G networks. I'm on Verizon right now and am fairly happy with it, but if there is a phone that works on other carriers I would consider switching. I don't really want to buy a flagship smartphone right now, because I don't need most of the features and ya know, money. I just want a newer device for software support reasons, and things like micro sd card slot and fingerprint scanner. Any recommendations of phones that are out now or will be soon would be great!
  3. I went to the event with two friends, so being able to talk to them definitely made it more enjoyable. Couple things I'll note (though your review is completely fair)... I talked to Colton and he said that the centre claimed to have projection surfaces, but really didn't, so the team had to cobble something together (if I remember correctly). I'm not sure why they didn't have time to get a proper screen from somewhere, but it definitely wasn't planned. The audio was definitely rough though. I sat in the back row of chairs and that was enough to hear most of what was being said, but of course a better setup would be nice. Oh, and the backpack that Dennis threw wasn't his, it was intended to be given away but Dennis used it all day anyway (if I heard correctly, I was up front then). I didn't play any of the video games either (besides 16k), but it was fun to talk with the team briefly (and get my toolkit signed) and just chill. I agree with your points for improvements and I would love to see more actual tech stuff next time, but I wasn't really expecting a whole lot besides a fun event run by LMG (meaning it probably goes wrong, but that's part of the fun). I'm looking forward to next year for sure.
  4. @CPotter I was looking to get the $75 package with all the stuff, but had to make sure the logistics worked out. So now, a couple weeks later, I don't see a way to buy it anymore. What happened? Thanks.
  5. It does indeed seem to be DOA. Bleurgh. Thanks everyone for your help.
  6. Right, forgot to mention that I uninstalled drivers with AMD's utility. I don't know why it would make a difference, but I could run this one too I suppose? Will look into CMOS.
  7. So as the title says, I just got a Sapphire Nitro RX480, and nothing's showing up on my screen after I installed it. The fans spin and the lights come on, including the graphics card, but nothing shows up on the monitor. I removed the RX 480 and replaced it with my previous card (MSI R9 270), and everything works fine. What should my next troubleshooting step be? I have other power supplies in other computers so I could try that, but obviously that's a pain. Thanks! Specs: CPU: Athlon x4 750k Cooler: Thermaltake T30 cooler RAM: 8gb Patriot Viper 3 Motherboard: Asus F2A85-M Pro PSU: Corsair CX600M Windows 10 64 bit (Anniversary update) Bios 6601 (latest) Graphics driver 16.9.1 (latest)
  8. Razer Blade Stealth, because then I can be a ninja Nah, but really I would prefer it because I'm not personally a fan of laptop gaming and I actually don't mind lugging a tower to LAN parties
  9. I can understand a lot of the criticisms people have about Windows 10, but I've never encountered these random restarts myself. I leave my computer on for a few days at a time, but whenever there is an update available it pops a notification and lets me re-schedule when the update happens. So, I set it for a couple weeks away, and usually just restart manually the next time it's convenient. The only time I had it restart when I didn't want it to was when I forgot when I had set it to restart, which is my fault. It could definitely use more reminders about when it's going to restart though (i.e. every 2 hours starting from 12 hours before), which I don't think it does. Back more on topic, this really isn't surprising. Getting businesses to upgrade any kind of software is often an uphill battle, especially something as essential as an OS. At least now that a year has passed Microsoft isn't trying to force everyone onto Windows 10 anymore (at least not like they were). It would be nice for Windows to have longer security support. We're kind of going to see that with Windows 10, being a more long term product, but it really would be nice if they could maintain 7, since it's just one more version. But a customer on Windows 7 is a customer who isn't buying Windows 10, so that won't happen.
  10. Yeah, no modern processors will go to the point that they fail from heat, unless they have a defect of some sort (unlikely). Throttle back performance or crash, yes, but not fry like they used to. I really wouldn't be so anxious about heat, if you run things at their stock speeds and voltages you really shouldn't have problems unless you're using a poorly setup system, and in any case it will shut off before heat is a major issue. Back on to the 1060, I really have no idea why they're calling both cards 1060s, yet having different core counts... It's quite silly, really. But despite that, it is interesting to see more competition in the budget space.
  11. Scroll down to the bottom, click THEME. It was on the "please hold we're updating" page I think.
  12. Wouldn't think so, I have 14.04 LTS (should have specified). Thanks anyway!
  13. Hey guys, So I've built a system from parts I was given/had laying around, and decided to host game servers for my friends. It doesn't actually host that often, so I'm going to fold with it! It's been CPU folding just fine for hours, but the GPU just says "failed". I've linked an album with all the (I think) relevant screenshots from the client. OS is Ubuntu 14.04 LTS. http://imgur.com/a/nm42e The only thing that looks wrong to me is that it correctly identifies the GPU as "R7 200 Series", but calls it Hawaii, when it really is Bonaire XTX. It also didn't just say "Failed" instantly, when I started it the client just said "Ready", and then when I checked in later it said "Failed", and the Work Unit disappeared from the Work Queue. I did try pausing and restarting GPU folding, and included the log from that. And note, the Phenom II X4 B65 is what a Phenom II X2 565 is called when the other cores are unlocked. Any help is much appreciated!
