I think I've had it for 3 years now and I have used it across like 4 builds (minor upgrades besides my finished gaming PC) and I never have had a problem with it. I would recommend it, but for my next build I might get one of their gold rated power supplies like this one
Mostly because it's semi-modular but the efficiency boost will be nice

CallMeMysterious got a reaction from rodrosenberg in got thermal paste on the back of my 6600k idk what to do now.
I am not a pro but I'd say get some isopropyl alcohol (90% or more ideally) and some paper towel
Dampen the paper towel by putting it over the top and turning it over then wipe it off

One of my friends is new to the PC Master Race, and he doesn't want to custom build. His budget was around $600, so I pointed him to this $620 PC on amazon. I will link him to this post, and tell him to read what you guys recommend to do. If you don't want to go to amazon, the specs are:
    - AMD FX 6300
    - GTX 1050 (non Ti)
    - 8gb ddr3 ram
    - "430w" Power supply (images depict a 500w)

I would suggest getting an AMD FX 8350 later on as well as a GTX 1060. Eventually he should switch over to intel though, as they have better performance and lower power draw. For him though, that will be quite a ways out. I would say like an i5 4590 or i5 6500. A 4590 would let him recycle the RAM because 4th gen intel CPUs use DDR3 but 6th gen and up use DDR4 which is expensive right now. He also should get at least a 500 watt power supply and maybe a 120gb boot SSD to speed up the computer in boot times and game load times. Sometime in the future, he should also learn how to custom build so he can do all of that. And switching to Intel would mean having to buy a new motherboard because AMD uses the AM3+ socket on their FX processors where intel uses the LGA 1150 socket for 4th gen and LGA 1151 for 6th gen.
Leave your opinions below for him to read.

    **EDIT**
I also know from experience that this system will bring in about 60fps on most games at medium settings 1080p. I had an FX 6300 and a GTX 750 Ti FTW.

I have an older system that I have upgraded a couple times. I remember awhile ago, like 2-3 months I could play all the games I wanted at 1080p 60+fps
Now, I am experiencing a plethora of framedrops. I used to get 75fps in warframe on high, but now I can barely pull 40fps low. It's even worse in newer games like Black Ops 3 and Fallout 4.
Rocket League and Battlefield 1 are being effected by this too

This is extremely upsetting for me so my first thought is "well, maybe it's time to upgrade," but I have little to no money to spend.
Ideally I would like to fix this without having to upgrade. I am not sure if it is my CPU (FX 6300 OC to 4.0ghz) or GPU (GTX 750 Ti FTW) bottlenecking the system.
I know my CPU is old but I can't afford the upgrade to a FX 8350 or a platform switch to Intel.

    **EDIT**
It was RAM. Make sure you don't have a massive amount of Hardware Reserved RAM. If you have about half or you don't know why you are loosing FPS, check in Task Manager > Performance > RAM > Hardware Reserved
If there is a massive amount, open Regedit with [Windows] + R and ender "Regedit" without quotes.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > CurrentControlSet > Control > Session Manager > Memory Management and click on it, change ClearPageFileAtShutdown from 0 to 1 and reboot. Viola, fixed

It is around 40c at load, which is the same (roughly) as without an OC.
    Man, my cooler works good.
    Thanks again!

That's pretty much a perfect budget build, with the ability to take on a higher end CPU down the road like a i5 or i7 without any issues. gg

I will eventually be getting a 4790K because (and correct me if I'm wrong) I believe it is the best CPU for the 1150 socket. and I think I will switch to Mini-ATX or Micro-ATX. My current PC is in a Mini-ATX case, and it is a decent size. Thanks for your input. Also, the Z97 is WAY out of my price range, but like I said, I'm building it to be upgraded!

EDIT: Yeah, I am gonna switch to the Rosewill Micro ATX Computer Case SRM-01 and the MSI H81M-E34 motherboard.
