The Noctua NH-L9i 33.8 CFM will fit and will be quite a bit better. Can't comment on if an Intel Stock cooler will work, because I know LGA 2011-3 has a different way of mounting than just holes.

Yes, but the minimum version to support 1440p @ 144Hz is 1.2, which was ratified back in 2009. So unless you're using old stuff, this is nothing to be concerned about.

I don't know that much, but other people on the forum do. I look at the threads from @Aniallation and @STRMfrmXMN's threads and follow their recommendations.

Let me break this down for you...

    5820k 6 cores, 28 PCIE lanes
    5920k 6 cores, 40 PCIE lanes
    5960X 8 cores, 40 PCIE lanes

    6800k 6 cores, 28 PCIE lanes
    6850k 6 cores 40 PCIE lanes
    6900k 8 cores, 40 PCIE lanes
    6950X 10 cores, 40 PCIE lanes.

    So basically:

6800k is the new version of 5820k
6850k is the new version of 5930k
6900k is the new version of 5960X
6950X is the new version of how to go bankrupt in 10 seconds flat for no real reason at all.

with that in mind, the ONLY things that makes a 6850k better than a 6800k (or a 5930k better than a 5820k)are this. 1, its stock clock frequencies (but you should really be overclocking that shit anyway, and it should overclock to about the same area), and 2. its PCIE lanes. MOST people are fine with 28 PCIE lanes, you only need 40 lanes if you're dropping 4 GPUs in there.
You shouldn't compare those two. they aren't really the same. That being said as far as raw performance goes, the 5820k or the 6800k is the way to go. 6850k isn't worth the investment just for some extra PCIE lanes (unless you REALLY needed them, but you dont)
Its not worth it one bit. get the 5820k or the 6800k.

About your original post, the 6900k IS a step up from the 5930k (you go from 6 cores to 8 cores). But as far as gaming performance goes, you won't notice ANY difference between the two (in fact the 8 core will often perform slightly worse in games due to poor optimization for it)

yeah the extra cost to the 6850k isn't worth it since performance gains are very little for the price premium

no you have a high end CPU already so it will stay relievant for many years to come. id say save money for something else in life like a car or something. you already have top of the line stuff so why go any higher

That is a thing you can do, but the longer you go, the greater the chance of issues.  Make sure you get good quality ones that are well shielded, etc.  This is one time where despite being a digital signal, quality really can make a difference.

I showed you a video with two overclocked ASUS cards, in your other topic. Watch it and you will see the power draw.

I don't plan on using 100% of both, I have capped out my single 980ti but TWO, I know I wont, so my PSU is fine, if I understood correctly.

Yeees! It's my first PC and I'm so excited! BTW, It's a hardline custom loop... People said it was too advanced for me and i should stick to air cooling, but I did it! I don't know if I should post it here or not...

Hello! Most of my parts for my PC have arrived and since Linus always puts everything on the motherboard outside of its case and does a POST.  How do I tell if everything is running perfectly? My motherboard does not have a number thingy that shows a number if there is an error.  BUT, I did a boot up comnected to a screen and to a keyboard (with everything installed, RAM, CPU, GPU) since I dont have the CPU cooler yet, I only turned it on for about 4 seconds.  The display showed "Press any key for BIOS". Was that a win for me?

    Hello!
I recently bought a "gaming" laptop. I say "gaming" because laptops are not powerful enough for real hard core games, I know.  I bought an MSI GT72 Dominator G (32GB DDR3 RAM, Nvidia 970M 3GB VRAM 256GB SSD and 1TB HDD. And ever since I got it it's been running, well, sometimes good and sometimes bad.  When it runs bad, it crashes about twice a day on the BSOD and I wanted to ask, are all gaming laptops like that? I want to know if I should return my computer and get a different one if not all gaming laptops are like that. If I do return my laptop, please recoment a good gaming laptop. I need a laptop because it's portability is essential for me, so no desktop.  Please recomend a laptop with a 980M and if it can sopport more harddrives as I have two m.2s here with me.

    Thanks!
    Josh

If you still have your old HDD, see if it boots back up with that. Then use something like Macrium Reflect (free) to move your data to the new SSD, it'll even align the blocks.

But I stil don't have many games for my PC and my all time favorite game is Modern Warfare 3 and I used to play on PS3, is there an emulator? I saw a couple ps3 emulators but I saw bad reviews... Anyone know how I can play my Modern Warfare 3 game on my PC, I don;t play online... I Only like MW3's spec ops so If online doesn't work, doesn't matter.  THANKS!
