  1. Can I ask which dock you use? That monitor looks really sweet, but would need a dock to achieve what I'm looking for.
  2. Hi everyone... So I am currently in the market for a new monitor to pair with my 2018 15" macbook pro. I am looking for reccomendations and am stuck between two types of options. First and foremost, I'm looking for a monitor that's greater than 1080p. I have a 1080p monitor, and when I hooked it up to my Macbook pro, it was blurry and pixelated (probably because I'm used to the 3kish display on the actual macbook) So that leaves me with two other options that I've been exploring. An Ultrawide 1440p monitor. The only issue and concern I have with this is that it will still not be as crisp/sharp as a 4k monitor. A not-ultrawide 4k monitor. This would give me the crispness I'd like, and I don't NEED an ultrawide monitor. Do any of you have some insight or reccomendations? My price-point is around 400 bucks (can do a little higher if its worth it) and I'd like something 27" or bigger. One other thing, I'd really like Thunderbolt 3 compatability so I'd only have to use one cord for everything. I'm just a little lost with the whole process, so if anyone has insight on 1440p vs 4k sharpness I'd really appreciate it. Thank you :)
  3. Hi Everyone, I'm currently in the market for a new laptop to help make my life easier this school year. My school gives us all iPads, but using those exclusively will be a pain in the a**. I am planning on doing a good amount of word processing (on either word or docs), doing some light coding, and doing some video editing using premiere. The video editing would be basic or slightly moderate at the most as I could use my desktops if I really need, but I want to be able to work on projects while actually at school. As for the coding, I will just be starting as a beginner and so probably don't need to factor this in too much. Finally, I will be writing a good amount of papers and conducting a research project this year, so something with a decent keyboard and hopefully is portable would be nice. I don't mind Windows or Mac (I'd actually prefer a MacBook but its way out of my price range). The only thing that has caught my eye so far is the Microsoft Surface Laptop, which if I waited until Microcenter brings the student discount back, I could get for roughly $730 Can I just get everyone's thoughts and suggestions? Thanks in advance! -ConiferousJelly
  4. I think about $1000 is a good price point. You can get a pretty awesome base razer blade stealth. If you want a Macbook, or want to upgrade the razer blade stealth with the better screen and storage, youll be looking around $1300-1400. Both MacBooks and Razer Notebooks have great battery.
  5. You could do it in a way more elegant way though... But yeah it isn't the best but if there is no other option at least there still is this one.
  6. Those just supply power, so you could add another PSU just for supplying power to the two GPUs, Austin Evans style.
  7. So may I first say, I am ready for everyone to be triggered at my decision to want Bluetooth headphones with the W1 chip, for not only that these may not be the best and they come from Apple. But my decision stands for many reasons, all of my portable devices are from Apple, got the Apple Watch, iPhone 7, and iPad Pro. When it comes to my computer, I likely will not be using these headphones for it, so it won't really matter. These are going to be my daily drivers, as for listening to music on the go, or when traveling, not when I am home. The Beats Solo 3s are the top of my budget, at $220. They feature the W1 chip, which sounds pretty cool and I played around with it before, 40+ hours of battery life, and are in the On-Ear shape, which sounds like will be a distinct advantage over the AirPods, because that helps with noise. The AirPods are the same, only with a shorter battery life, in an In-Ear design. As for comfort though, I hear the Solo line isn't the best, but not bad, my trials at the Apple Store haven't shown me any problems. For the AirPods, I already love the EarPods, and they are essentially the same, but maybe a little bigger. One more factor is, if I do end up needing to use a hard wire, the Solos have a wire so they can just connect right through. It would be trickier with the AirPods, with needing a Bluetooth transmitter to have it receive audio, and have it connected to the AirPods so being able to listen to something like a TV on an airplane is possible. What I'm asking the community is, Which would you choose (Without price being a factor)? Why? Are there any other factors about either that I haven't mentioned? Which would you chose (With the fact that the AirPods are cheaper)? Why? I will also ask for other recommendations, stating the advantages over these, but I do ask you answer the main question, because I don't need my decision just to be shot down, I'm also asking what your opinions are on the two. Also, feel free to ask any questions in case I haven't come along clearly. Thanks in Advance Everyone, ConiferousJelly
  8. Exactly why they would fix it. Intel should start getting scared and wearing and actually do their best, that's what we need. We don't need Intel to fail, but to be challenged.
  9. Made separate post about what I asked in the first comment, so I just took it out.
  10. That's a good point, just want to have something that matches the bigger screen lol. Thanks for the suggestion though Any other reccomendations? Also, would this one be good for gaming?
  11. Yeah but its 23.6inches which would be tiny next to my 27inch monitor. Updated the thread to ask for 27inch+ models.
  12. Please suggest, and how would that fair with a GTX 1070?
  13. Hi Everyone, Ever since I built my new PC I decided I wanted to ask for a 1440p monitor and stand for the holidays. My issue is, I don't know which one. I will have this one as my main monitor and to the side I will have my Samsung S27D590C 27inch curved monitor. I would like it to not break the bank too much, have a VESA mount so I can put it on a stand with my current monitor, and be at least 27inches. Can anyone make some suggestions? Thanks, ConiferousJelly
  14. No, you don't need to upgrade you PC, at all really. An OS Cleanup would be just fine to keep your system running the fastest. If you wanted to upgrade, you could either go to Kabylake when it releases, or upgrade to a gtx 1080. But really, no need to upgrade unless you really need a performance boost in games. Yeah, like Randomness said, what PSU do you have? If you don't have a neccesarily great unit, you should absolutely replace it cause that's a nice system you got there, wouldn't want it to be fucked up by the PSU
  15. Yeah, just the usb extension hub is a little pricey, so $10 vs $25 Im just gonna deal with one less USB port Was thinking, would there be an adapter to have a USB header plug into sata? Seems like a little bit better idea.
  16. Thanks a lot man, your awesome. Just fixed my problem
  17. I know, kinda sucks. Do you know any examples of cables that would do that? Any Links?
  18. But the motherboard doesn't have any USB 2.0 headers...
  19. Im confused... You know those things that you plug right into the mobo, that connect the front usb ports... manual says only 1 usb 3.0 connection.
  20. Nope, only 1 usb 3.0 header. Kinda pissed, because this ruins a lot of my ideas.
  21. Wanted to bump this to see if anyone that wasn't online yesterday (When i posted this) Has some insight.
  22. Hi Everyone, So I just ordered a NZXT S340 Elite case, and was thinking about pimping it up. I was going to get the Hue+ and Aer RGB fan combos, but then I realized the EVGA z170 ftw only has 1 usb 3.0 header, while the Hue+ needs a usb 2.0 header. On top of that, the case has 2 usb 3.0 ports and 2 usb 2.0 ports, I would be fine not being able to use the 2.0 ports, but I dont know about the 3.0. Is there any way I can get around this? My only option right now seems to be: Get a usb 3.0 to 2.0 adapter, then buy the nzxt expansion kit, and hook up the Hue+ and usb 2.0 ports and leave the 3.0 ones dead. IS there any other way? Thanks, ConiferousJelly
  23. I'd love the new blade because it would replace my very old and under performing mac-book pro. Also, it literally outperforms my second PC
