  1. Hi all, So this is an odd one, I'm overclocking my FX8350 so far I've had no problems and I'm at 4.4GHz at 1.4125v. I decided to overclock through AMD Overdrive mainly so I could just apply the overclock if I wanted to otherwise I can leave the CPU stock. I used p95 for 5 hours to test for stability and I had no issues. But for some reason 2 things keep happening, first Aero disables itself as soon as I apply the overclock and then my graphics cards performance takes a hit while the CPU is overclocked. Is there anything I'm missing or should I just give up and overclock through the BIOS? The only settings I've changed are the core voltage and the multiplier Thanks for your help
  2. Unfortunately then it would seem as if either your cpu or mobo is to blame for this. If you know someone with an AM3+ board take your cpu to them and see if you get the same issues with their hardware. If you don't know anyone then you can always get a cheap board from asus for around $15 like the m5a78l-usb3 and just return it when you're done testing . If you get the same issue then it's your cpu and if you don't then look at sending your mobo back if you can or replacing it with a new one.
  3. Have you disabled TurboCore? Download AMD overdrive and turn it off from there, also in your power settings go to plan settings then advanced look at processor power management and set the min and max state to 100% also on system cooling policy change it to active if its set to passive. That should force your cpu to it's max speed all the time, see if that works and let me know
  4. On your screenshots during your 'low fps' times it seems as though your processor is stepping down it's speed quite a lot. Have you got cool n quiet, c6 or anything else like that enabled in the bios? Generally speaking as well you should really look in to getting the AMD wraith cooler over your stock one at minimum as it will do a better job cooling and contain the temp spikes that cpu is prone to.
  5. I'm going to mark this topic solved now as for some reason forcing the fan to change manually with gpu tweak then setting it back to auto made the card start behaving, god knows why or what was happening but problem solved for now
  6. So I've managed to take control of the fan using Asus GPU Tweak however it still won't increase automatically I have to specify a set RPM for it and that's as good as it gets. Could it be possible that this is a driver issue?
  7. Just trying an older driver at the moment in fact it's the one Sapphire puts in the box as Afterburner wouldn't let me adjust anything all the settings were blank and couldn't be changed Just a quick edit I've tried the older driver but MSI Afterburner is still unable to control any aspect of the card, are there any other ideas I could try?
  8. How would I go about doing this with Wattman or should I just go ahead and use SpeedFan?
  9. I forgot to add I have changed driver releases several times but it hasn't made a difference
  10. Hi all, So I just got myself a RX470 and it unfortunately has some issues, it's not a temperature problem and it is. Basically under load the fan on the card will make no attempt what so ever to speed up to decrease heat it's stuck at it's idle speed of 840 RPM despite the GPU reaching 88C before I chickened out and stopped stressing it regardless even in games the issue is causing the card/my system to just turn off. I've tried adjusting maximum, target and minimum as well as the frequency threshold on the card through AMDs Wattman and the card just doesn't respond to any commands you send to it. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers several times with a fresh download each time and am currently using AMDs hotfix driver, there's no fan control utility or overclocking utility installed either just to make sure there are no conflicts with the fan control. Is there anything else I can try or is it an RMA job now? Thanks
  11. not to worry if anyone wanted to have a go at this, I've simply changed my database design so it all works now and it's easier for me to navigate
  12. Hi Everyone, I'm trying to get a SQL query to work in a c# windows forms application but I keep getting data mismatch errors. I'm trying to search through records that contain the autonumber value from a different table as their foreign key so for example: BuildingID - the primary key BuildingName - some name OrgID - the foreign key I'm trying to search by The part that I can't get to work is where I have a long variable. I have tried Single, Double and int but I can't get it to work with the query just for context the attached picture of the code is searching a database for information on hardware and displaying it in to a table. Then the second part is finding building name values for a combo box and it's picking these out by the OrgID value then inserting them in to the combo box. Sorry I can't put my code in the post for some reason even with code tags it blocks my post any help getting this working is greatly appreciated thatOCGuy
  13. It could be that you mobo maker has a higher end model with this sensor on it however they left it out on yours. As a result with no diode there it could just be reporting a null value which it what you see on your program. My Asus board has a sensor that isn't included on my board and it always reads -115c
  14. There must be some kind of background process at work here that's eating cpu cycles. When you start the game have you tried alt tabbing out and setting the games process priority to high in the task manager? This might possibly help even though the Windows cpu governor should give max priority to whats taking up the screen this might not be the case. Try forcing the priority up in task manager and see how it goes. Word of caution, don't set the process to 'real time' this will most likely crash the system. In case you don't know how to set the priority simply right click the process name in the task manager and the option should be there in the option bar that comes up. Hope this helps
  15. Activation for Windows 10 is hardware id tied, however I've seen many people claim that they have simply called Microsoft after the changing and done an over the phone activation essentially moving the hardware id for that windows copy to your new motherboards id so there shouldn't be a need to reinstall just make sure you have your new drivers etc installed and your old motherboard ones removed.
