  1. Thanks a lot for the reply! ? I bought the Corsair RM (2019) 650W. It is not the RMx but it is listed as Tier A on the tier list.
  2. Hello everyone! I have a question if anyone can answer please. I have been using an FSP Raider 650W PSU for roughly 4 years. For most of those years, I was using the following specs: Motherboard - Asus Z170-P CPU - Intel i7 6700k RAM - 16GB G.Skill GPU - Gigabyte Geforce GTX 1070 I have never had any issues. I recently upgraded my GPU to a Palit 2080Ti Dual. So far it still works perfectly without issues. However, I have recently been thinking whether it would be a smart choice to change (upgrade) my PSU even though it has been working fine. I know that PSU model is not looked upon favourably here and do not know if it is safe to keep using. Should I replace my PSU for safety or leave it there since I have no issues. Thanks a lot for the assistance!
  3. For an update, I purchased an Asus Xonar U3 external sound card via USB but the problem got worse! I think my only option is to use the VGA's sound (which is surprisingly clear!) and may attempt an RMA if I wish to use my sound card.
  4. Thanks for the reply! I tried using headphones but got the same problem. As for external soundcard, I tried using my monitor's sound (via HDMI) and the distortion disappears. I placed the internal soundcard as far down on the motherboard as possible and it almsot disappeared but some crackles still occur. Placing it above the VGA (and right below the onboard sound chip) results in a lot more distortion.
  5. I have taken it out of the case but the issue still remains....even using only onboard graphics...Only way to get relatively good sound is to use the monitor audio via my GTX 970 so it seems it is motherboard related but I have no clue.
  6. Yes, I just checked that the standoffs are installed. My previous motherboard used the exact same case and didn't have any problems. I am worried that I am doing damage to the motherboard.
  7. I bought new parts for my PC (I was going to upgrade anyway eventually) and I think the issue is gone. I started a new topic for a new separate issue unrelated to this. Thanks for all your help!
  8. Hi all, I have gotten these parts a couple of days ago: Asus Z170-P Motherboard Intel i7 6700k G-Skill 4x2GB DDR4 Raider FSP 750W Silver I installed the parts and the computer works fine generally and games also seem to perform pretty well. However, I have an issue with both the onboard sound and the Asus Xonar DGX sound card. Basically, all sound crackles and pops and gets worse when the CPU usage gets higher and higher. Using Latency Mon, it shows me that some drivers are causing the spike but it seems like all of them cause the issue! Using onboard sound, the issue is much worse as the sound becomes a mess. Sound which comes from the monitor does not cause this. What could be wrong? As I seem to be quite lost in this issue. Thank you!
  9. Done both today and the temperatures under load went to around 55-60 degrees so quite an improvement! However, the reboots in these games still occur, most of the time in the same areas so I wonder if it is a PSU issue or a game issue. Thanks
  10. I have just tested using Intel Burn Test until it reached 105 degrees at which point it down throttled but did not crash. I have no doubt that I need to fix the temperature issues on my CPU (I re-applied thermal paste to my CPU but I could have done it wrong, going to get the CM 212). However, since it is not crashing under the burn tests, I am not sure that the crashes are related to the heat issues. I am going to try and play the games using the maximum fan settings like Kaspertechgeek suggested and see if it still occurs. Thank you for all the suggestions so far!
  11. I thought the same but Warhammer does the same thing and they both share the same thing in common (Very low FPS). Typically my CPU temps reach about 90 degrees with Turbo on during games. However, during Prime95, the temps reached up to 104 degrees but still didn't crash. Thanks for the replies!
  12. Hi all, I have been playing a problem when playing games such as H1Z1 and Warhammer: Vermintide where the PC would just restart (with no BSOD) when performance gets very low. In fact, this behaviour only occurs in these two games (which I've played) and games such as Witcher 3, GTA V and Guild Wars 2 do not give me issues and play smoothly/stable. As luck would have it, H1Z1 and Warhammer are games which give me bad performance (especially when items such as grenades blow off in a crowd). The only way to prevent a restart is to run them at low settings due to the improved performance. I have tried Prime95 and running GPU benchmarks for some time but they went fine. I have also ruled out overheating as the cause since the temperatures do not even reach the throttling thresholds. My only assumption is the PSU but I find it strange that this only seems to occur in those 2 games and only when performance is very low. Only current solutions are: 1.) Lower all settings 2.) Turn off Intel Turbo for the CPU in the BIOS My computer specs are: Motherboard - Gigabyte H61MA-D2V CPU - Intel Core i5 3570k RAM - Corsair DDR3 8GB VGA - MSI Gaming 4G GTX 970 4GB PSU - Corsair CX 500W Sound Card - Asus Xonar DGX Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!
  13. Hi there! For quite a while, I have been thinking of purchasing a new monitor and move away from my old Asus TN 60Hz 21'5 inch. The problem is that I cannot decide between getting a 144Hz G-Sync monitor or an IPS Ultra-wide monitor. To me it seems that I have to choose between performance versus picture quality for my new monitor. Originally, I wanted to keep my budget at around €400 which was enough to get me the BenQ XL2430T 144Hz monitor (without G-Sync of course). After lots of reading, however, I'm worried about image quality being an issue and was told that I would be better off getting an Ultra-wide monitor due to 144FPS being unreachable in a lot of modern games. My specs are as follows: Core i5 3750k @ 2.4Ghz Corsair 8GB DDR3 RAM Geforce 970GTX 4GB (or 3.5GB) Samsung SSD 840 I play a lot of different types of games spanning across many genres which also includes competitive games such as CS:GO and RPGs such as The Witcher 3. The idea of super smooth gameplay really drew me in the idea of using a 144Hz monitor (and later on G-Sync even if it comes with a bit of a premium). However, I also play on the consoles which cannot take advantage of these features and image quality would be more of a priority there. I raised my budget to around €600 as it seems that I would rather purchase a quality monitor which does not needto be top of the line. My 2 current choices are as follows: https://www.overclockers.co.uk/benq-xl2420g-24-1920x1080-tn-g-sync-144hz-1ms-gaming-widescreen-led-monitor-black-mo-112-bq.html (144Hz G-Sync) https://www.overclockers.co.uk/lg-34um67-34-2560x1080-ips-freesync-gaming-super-wide-widescreen-led-monitor-black-mo-127-lg.html (Ultra-wide IPS) Both of these add up to around €600 but I cannot decide as I do not know which one would benefit me the most. With the Benq I get: -144Hz -G-Sync -Blur removal With the LG I get: -21:9 gaming -IPS Thanks!
