  1. If your graphics card can drive the 1440p then I would go for that. Also, i'm not a big fan of the 16:10 aspect ratio
  2. This exact thing happened to me last night. Installed a 6300 with the stock cooler...played with it for two days and temps would spike to >70 degrees. Went to install an aftermarket cooler and the stock heatsink pulled the CPU straight out with it. I was able to get it removed from the heatsink, re-seated in the socket, and install the aftermarket cooler...and somehow it still booted up. On a related note, I thought FOR SURE my CPU was rekt, but it still booted up and temps were no greater than 50 degrees while gaming; goal achieved. Should I still be concerned about the CPU? Would running different benchmarks reveal any potential damage? I was always under the assumption that ANY damage to the CPU would render it useless, so are there ways to damage a CPU such that it still boots and seems normal but might not be able to perform certain functions? GAH!
  3. I think you might be onto something ⊙﹏⊙ http://imgur.com/a/0XPY4
  4. Well gentlemen, I'm pleased to say that after swapping out the "new" drive with the drive from my main build, I am looking at a pretty blue Windows setup screen. Thanks a lot!
  5. I guess it could have always arrived DOA, but It spins up and is recognized as bootable by the bios.
  6. Wouldn't that also cause the components to not show in the bios? The bios picks up both the RAM and CPU
  7. Hey everyone, as the title states I can't get Windows 10 installed on my fresh build. I can get to the bios, but when I try to boot with a new Windows 10 CD it just spins its wheels. I eventually got this orange screen with a bunch of vertical lines on it...I love LTT colors but this was a little disconcerting lol Gigabyte GA970A-D3P AMD 6300 black Asus 780 ti Samsung evo 500 gb. Seasonic 650 16gb hyper X ram Is it possible the boot media is corrupt or something? HELP BROTHERS!
  8. Lex luthor sometimes, if you got the shaved head that is
  9. I have several packages that are active guard packages. If i ever feel like I am threatened I shout "loose the packages!" and it's usually a better deterrent than hounds
  10. On a similar note though, are DIY laptop builds even a thing? I always thought it would be cool to assemble your own laptop, but I don't know enough to comment on the viability/practicality of such a thing.
  11. This is true, but also applies to purchases that are done with cash/debit. Regardless of how you pay for the build, the depreciation rate of the tech doesn't change... just like when a car is driven off the lot and immediately loses value. Value isn't impacted by method of payment, the value is going to diminish quickly no matter what... Free financing, if use by a disciplined buyer (and that can sometimes be a big "if), will only help your cash flow.
