KabuTheFox reacted to Pendragon in need help deciding between laptops
No one buys them because they are objectively worse than those Clevos you don't trust so much. If you want to know more http://forum.notebookreview.com/forums/acer.22/

KabuTheFox reacted to Pendragon in best laptop under $1500?
both. the pins on the wifi card are really easy to break apparently. I have 0 issue with it however as I've taken it in and out like 15 different times running tests. However, other people who have attempted this have broken the pins so many times so I'm assuming it'll be quite hard for almost everyone. There's a guide on NBR on how to not break it. Otherwise, you can to route the cables a bit and opening it up is not hard. You can stick with the killer card now, there's a legacy driver that fixes connection drops (speeds are slower though).

Capital letters on Acer monitors are revisions. What's been revised though we may never know.

My Walmart just got the MiBox like in the review I posted above a few days ago, I was talking to the guy working electronics tonight and he showed them to me, Also I hear most of the Roku lineup is fixing to get refreshed with a new generation before years end and A new Fire Stick is coming in a few weeks (but that lacks a USB so it's useless to you) Also there is a rumored new Chromecast set to be unveiled at a Google event occurring on Tuesday.

Well the Shield does include 3 free months of Nvidia Geforce Now which does decent gameplay, somewhere between PS3 and PS4 and if you have a supporting GPU in your desktop you can stream games from your PC to your TV (if your PC is in a different room), it's honestly hard to say if it's worth it now that the MiBox is available, I bought my Shield like a year ago and the only competition was Roku and Fire TV. You could always look at it as it having a longer usable life then the MiBox for when you upgrade your TV down the road.

They've like "pre-released" them in stores, I was always worried about the WD's codec supports which is why I never bought one of them, with the Android based units like the MiBox and Shield TV you can just download a media player that supports whatever codecs you need.

then the Mi Box would probably be enough, you can find them at Walmarts for about 70 bucks, supports all the codecs so even 1080p videos encoded in H.265 HEVC (for file size savings) should play without issue. in this review he said the Mi Box gets some frames drops at 4k, so if 4k isn't important then it should probably be good enough.

That looks good. You can change the drive letter if you wish.

KabuTheFox reacted to meenmeen1103 in cannot access second hdd?
This only works assuming the system did a quick format (from NTFS to RAW) versus a full format, which I suspect is the case. A full format would take considerably longer, minutes instead of seconds

Win + R
"diskpart" Enter (assume enter from now on)
"list disk"
"select disk #" #= the drive you need
"clean" or "clean all" You may need "clean all override"

Right click on the bit where is says 450MB (in the image you posted). there should be a "Delete Volume..." option. - On DISK 1... .Not Disk 0
Once that is done right clock on the 230GB part, and it should now show "Extend Volume..." as an option

KabuTheFox reacted to Moonzy in win7 install cannot find / won't install drivers?
hmm... maybe try asking the seller whats up with the installing process
or just get windows 10?

KabuTheFox reacted to Naeaes in bootable usb errors?
You wouldn't happen to have the driver DVD for the board would you?
-
KabuTheFox reacted to Naeaes in bootable usb errors?
Well, if the motherboard manufacturer won't provide the F6 sata driver, maybe the chip manufacturer will. Changing the sata mode to Sata as opposed to AHCI or RAID can help with this particular problem but will create others (such as disabling TRIM) so don't go there head-on.

hmm... how bout try getting windows 7 from microsoft this time
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows7
-
KabuTheFox reacted to Naeaes in bootable usb errors?
Well, that's a step forward. You need to load the Sata/RAID drives. You can include them onto the stick you're using ir you can use some other Stick or even a DVD. So download the drives form your motherboard manufacturer website, unzip them onto a stick and plug that in once you get to that point. Then you can load them by clicking browse.

AIO is one of em

KabuTheFox reacted to Moonzy in testing my first rig question
make sure you mount the cooler properly. can you wiggle it around when you try to? if yes then mount it tighter
is the pump plugged in? can you feel it vibrating?
did you peel off the plastic on the bottom of the waterblock?
are the fans running?
the temp reading in bios are normally pretty accurate
-
KabuTheFox reacted to Moonzy in testing my first rig question
the part attached to the cpu, does the pump seem like its working? (vibrating slightly)
-
KabuTheFox reacted to Moonzy in testing my first rig question
if both tubes are cold means the liquid arent moving
supposedly one tube is slightly warmer than the other if the liquid is flowing
i suggest try checking if the pump is plugged into the right header, normally the header next to the CPU_FAN header
-
KabuTheFox reacted to Moonzy in testing my first rig question
yea i think your board only has one header
so did you plug it in correctly?
is the pump vibrating when you tube it with your fingers?
even slightly? i suspect dead pump
