  1. I think this is what you're looking for: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/tasker-guide-to-auto-brightness.3441980/ https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.dinglisch.android.taskerm
  2. I'm somewhat satisfied with the video answer although the jokes were in bad taste. Too bad it took so much escalation to get to this point. Now we as a community have to watch them and hold accountable on delivering on the promises made. I'm not gonna touch Madison thing with a ten foot pole. If true it can't be resolved with a simple video but it certainly needs to be addressed in some way and fast. The accusations are really, really serious and for now it's word against word and frankly nobody on this forum should cast judgment at this time.
  3. If they didn't mention it people would call them out. They mentioned it and it's still bad because they said they could do otherwise? Gotta pick one. As for "trust me bro" dilemma I honestly didn't care much about it as I live in Europe and wouldn't order anything anyway but I could see why it exploded to such a degree. And I could see why GN took interest in it. It wasn't all clean of course as they mentioned their own warranty policies (could be to clarify. Could be just to poke LTT. I don't know). They were expressing their concerns and communicating a change of stance towards LMG which I think is a valid thing to speak out about. Also it wasn't a dedicated video but a part of "HW News". It's not like I'm desperately defending GN. I don't believe for one second there isn't even one bit of self-interest in all this but IMHO it vastly outweighs the issue at hand
  4. Not going to disregard "he did it for a drama" thing completely but consider this- he made a ton of valid points backed up by proof. He turned off monetization on the video and didn't put any sponsor spots. And lastly, out of the ordinary high number of views in just one video can actually hurt a channel in terms of a appealing to YouTube gods. Linus mentioned it a couple of times on WAN Show.
  5. You clearly have no idea what you're talking about both in terms of cost and design of the product. As a Mechanical Engineer myself I can tell you that the piece was a freaking work of machining art with proper fluid dynamics taken into consideration (which Linus touches on in the video too). Also you grossly overestimate how much copper is worth in volume. Was the product stupid? Probably, yes. But it could find it's audience as all over the top things do As for the review itself - It's like testing a cooler on an AMD processor with Intel Bracket and complaining that it doesn't dissipate heat properly. Bad testing completely invalidates the results. That's it.
  6. Steve said and I quote - "LMG has put one of a kind block up for auction". Whether it's for charity (which I think most of the people who watch GN nad LTT know it was) or not is irrelevant. So it the fact that you've compensated the Billet Labs. It shows a bigger issue within the company that's mixed up with lower video quality. Billet Labs didn't just lose money on this but a great, functioning prototype. It's priceless in engineering. Don't be that guy that says "I compensated them for it, it's fine". Own it and apologize publicly. Regarding reviews mistakes- you've said you're improving a bunch of times now and I don't doubt that. But at the same time you cannot use that argument for everything, especially with so many viewers onboard. It shouldn't be that every time you make a mistake (and there were quite a few recently) you just go "whoops...but...but... we're getting better". At some point it just starts getting old and stops being true (The phrase "Labs has tested..." became pretty much meaningless). Just focus at one thing at a time. Correct video procedures, testing procedures, instead of making a thousand new things at once. How can you trust in new things being good when old things are broken? I think that GN did an excellent journalistic job and brought up something that a non-insignificant amount of the community was thinking but didn't have a medium to speak out (and making a forum thread by some rando' wouldn't be it). Putting aside his personal relationships and speaking what he believes in is IMHO a mark of a true journalist. As I said in my previous post in the thread - I'll still be watching LTT but at the same time I want it to be the best version of itself. That's probably a lot to take in but everything that's being said is valid and should be evaluated.
  7. Even unknowingly/without proof of prior knowledge? Seems unlikely but I'm genuinely curious.
  8. Unfortunately that's not going to happen. Whoever bought it bought it fair and square. Even if it's a competitor I'm not sure whether it's allowed to publicize such information without permission. The fault falls solely on LMG in this case.
  9. I'm gonna copy my YouTube comment: "That's the way I feel about LMG recently. I'm a long time LTT viewer but currently I only watch it for entertainment value. I pretty much skip all of their CPU/GPU/cooler reviews. They're not reliable. And that copper cooler review...man...that was outrageous. They specifically tested it with the wrong card on a premise that it might work and when it didn't they just said "Eh, it is what it is. It sucks". That's not what a journalist does. And the fact that LMG auctioned the cooler without permission is borderline illegal in my opinion." Steve summed up what I've been feeling about LMG and more. I'm still gonna watch the WAN Show and probably most of the LTT videos but the company needs to get their s**t together. At the size of LMG (as much as Linus wants to call it small company) some things are not acceptable.
  10. Pretty much this. There's nothing special about MQA except for the "Authenticated" part. Even ALAC makes more sense (which Apple actually made open source). IMO we don't need MQA in the music industry. It should be up to the artist themselves to make sure their music is up to standards in terms of quality (both on records and streaming service) - whether they do that and whether most of the users care is an entirely different issue though.
  11. Check out Sunon MF40202V2-1000U-A99. I'm using Sunon fans in my own printer and they're great.
  12. NV didn't do that because technically it's not their connector. They might (and probably are) collaborate with PCI-SIG but that's the extent most companies that size will go for. As much as I hate to say this - It's not their job to fix somebody's screw up. And TBH apart from nerds like us not many people will care unless it happens to them. I'm not an electrical engineer and I'm not even gonna pretend to know anything about building connectors this small compared to the power they carry (especially without one on hand). That's a solid design screw up and needs to be fixed. That's for sure. Lastly - I'm actually amazed by he amount of work GN always does in situations like this. They go above and beyond not to jump into consultations and give us some proper findings supported by empirical evidence. Something I feel especially LTT and Jay have been struggling with.
  13. I'm not crying, you're crying! Thank you @TaranLMGfor all the amazing videos and laughs. Good luck on your new journey!
  14. Just few days ago my friend was looking for a gaming laptop (which would be also good for rendering). He needed a little push but I was able to convince him to go for the one with the Ryzen 4800H. Even in the laptop space AMD has gotten really good. Although as much as I love AMD being on top of their CPU game again I hope Intel is gonna come up with something soon. Competition is good for everyone.
  15. I've made a rough CAD model od the desk. I had to make a few assumptions as the plan was missing a few dimensions (Some were mentioned in the video). I'm attaching SW 2020 and STEP files. @NickHeavy I hope that's okay I'm sharing this. Table_assembly.SLDASM Table_assembly.STEP Table_leg.SLDPRT Table_leg.STEP Table_top.SLDPRT Table_top.STEP
  16. I use Master Liquid 240 non-lite and it handles my 2700X like a champ. Unfortunately the included fans aren't very good. At anything more than 40% speed they're uncomfortably loud. I'm planning on replacing them soon. I'd have gone for an air cooler but I really like the looks of an AIO. At this price point especially it's the only reason to go with CLC to be honest.
  17. Did Nicholas forget about the CAD files? Can't find the links.
  18. It's not a serious issue but for some reason I cannot play 1080p videos through my Chromecast. It started a couple of months ago. Some short videos (3-4 minutes) play fine from time to time but any longer than that just refuses to start. 720p works just fine. It doesn't matter if I cast from a phone or PC. Chromecast itself is connected to a 5GHz network. I cast same / higher bitrate content just fine from other sources (local or not) with no problems. I have 70Mb/s down / 15Mb/s up internet connection. Location: Poland.
  19. I can honestly recommend Audio Technica ATH-AR3BT. They're a little over $100, but they're are worth every single penny. http://www.audio-technica.com/cms/headphones/b3e2df87164ad209/index.html EDIT: I didn't notice "simultaneously". Yeah, I don't think there's anything like that. Like @ShadySocks said, you're better off looking for a software solution.
  20. @LinusTech I would love to see your take on the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Yoga. Looks really interesting
  21. These are awesome! Kinda like mini vlogs every day. A liked the one from yesterday when Linus threw a box of speakers into his son's face ?
  22. Here are some cool uses from good guys at XDA. Maybe you'll find something you like https://forum.xda-developers.com/u/reusing-devices
  23. I still can't believe it ;( Who's gonna make fun of Dennis now and give me some amazing lifting and life tips? We'll miss you Nicky V ?
  24. That was quick! I'll look into both configurations, and once I make my choice, I'll post my build on the forums. Thank you guys!
