  1. Sorry to hear that man. Mine seems to be slightly more in check, I used to have those crazy spikes but so far I haven't had any over the past few days. Try: Enabling max performance in nvidia control panel power settings Using the Intelligent Standby Cleaner List (software) In MSI Tool set the GPU to enabled but undefined
  2. Hello, I had the same issue and rolling back my drivers seems to have helped a bit. I'm using a 3700X and a GTX 970. Using the 419 drivers it's a lot better. Did you ever find a solution to this issue?
  3. Hello, I have had DPC latency issues with my new PC since building it. My specs are as follows: Ryzen 3700X Asus X570 TUF 16GB Crucial Balistix LT 3200mhz 2X 500gb MX500 2X WD caviar blue 3tb. EVGA G2 750W PSU Windows 10 pro 64bit 1909 (no option to roll back as this was the version I installed with). What I have tried: Running one ram stick Changing GPU from my 970 to a 5700XT (this actually made it worse) Reinstalling drivers, including older versions. Running drivers in MSI mode Disabling LAN and my audio devices Unplugging my hard drives Changing processor affinity to allocate different drivers to different cores. It seems like disabling LAN in the bios and disabling my audio devices does help a little, but it's very sporadic. I'm almost certain it isn't a bad PSU, as I wasn't having any issues when I was using it in my old build. I'm also permanently connected to ExpressVPN, but after disconnecting and trying it doesn't seem to sort things. The spikes are very random, I can watch Youtube videos without any issue, and I can often do heavy work in Adobe Audition without issues, but every so often it will spike and I'll get a jarring noise. This issue seems to get worse over time as I leave my PC on. My temperatures are fine, CPU rarely breaks 60C, and the chipset and GPU sit at around 65C under stress. I'm using the latest bios and chipset drivers. The only thing I can think of is that using optical audio to my amp/dac is causing issues, but disabling my audio device didn't fix the issues. I have attached my Latency Monitor report. Any help would be greately appreciated, I use my PC for audio related work and I'm going a bit mad. Thanks very much. DPC.txt
  4. Hello. Today I noticed that there was a screeching and static popping sound coming from my Optical Audio DAC/Amp. This issue occurs when I preview video files in Windows 10, and when I open the files it takes quite a while for the audio to actually come through. The other audio ports on the PC work fine (both front and back). I have tried another optical audio cable and experience the same issues. I've tried rolling back drivers and updating drivers to no avail. I'm not sure if it is an issue with the amp/dac, or the Realtek digital audio output. Youtube has no issues with playback, it seems to be only media files stored locally on my PC. Whenever I go to play one I hear a pop, as though the amp is being turned on. My PC specs are as follows. 3700X Asus X570 TUF. 16gb Crucial Ballistix LT. SMSL Sd793ii (amp/dac). This issue occurs through the headphone jack and the speaker outputs on the back of the amp too. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
  5. Hello, First of all I've searched the manual for information about SATA ports being disabled when an M.2 drive is used, but I can't find anything. Does anybody know if me using an M.2 drive in the Asus X570 TuF would disable SATA ports? And if so, does this apply to both SATA M.2 and NVME M.2 drives? Also does anybody know which SATA ports would be disabled should I use one of the two M.2 ports? Thanks.
  6. Hello, I am thinking of putting the MSI B450 Gaming Pro Carbon AC motherboard into my Corsair Carbide 300r case. However I have read online that the heatsink next to the IO, can interfere with the rear fan. I have replaced the stock fan with a Noctua NF-F12. I realise this is a very niche question, but does anybody have experience with these components, or similar ones, and could tell me about clearance of the rear fan and heatsink? I am also looking at the MSI X470 Gaming Pro Carbon. However I saw a post here stating that I'd either need to remove the IO Motherboard cover on that board, or modify the fan. The noctua I swapped the original fan for is more slimline however I'm still unsure. Thanks.
  7. Hello! I am thinking of swapping out my 3570K@4.3ghz for an i7 2600k, I can get it for around £30 and I think that's a reasonable price for the bump in multicore performance provided I can overclock it to at least 4.5ghz. I realise that the Silicon Lottery plays a part in determining overclocks, but I was hoping to find out what other's had achieved and what core speed, voltage and cooler was used. I currently have a Noctua NH-U14S which is keeping my i5 under 70 degrees with 60% fan speed. Any help would be greatly appreciated, Thank You ?
  8. That's what I'm also thinking, I know the single core performance isn't as good at stock, but if I can get it to 4.5ghz that will get it up to the same single core, plus hyperthreading. Thanks for your help.
  9. We're thinking £25 plus shipping. The issue for me is that an upgrade to a substantially better CPU would cost me upwards of £500 cause I need DDR4 Ram and a new Motherboard too. Thanks for your help.
  10. Thanks for the reply, I'm a student so I don't have money to spend on new parts. I'd need new RAM and a new motherboard alongside the CPU and that's just not something I can unfortunately afford.
  11. Hello, I'm currently using a 3570k @ 4.3ghz on an AsRock Extreme4 Z77 with a Noctua NH-U14S. My friend has a used 2600K that's he's willing to sell to me for £25, however I'm debating whether to swap my current CPU out with the older i7. I mostly play games, but I also use my PC for music production (with Studio One 3), running emulators such as Cemu and Yuzu, and occasionally video editing too. I'm happy to overclock and I'm not so worried about getting the absolute max out of my GTX 970 as I only have a 60hz 2560x1080 monitor. Is it worth swapping out my i5 for the older i7? I've heard the Sandy Bridge chips overclock really well, I can't get my 3570k past 4.3 without serious temp increases. Thanks very much for reading! EDIT: I should've made it clear that I don't have the money to upgrade my motherboard and RAM so am stuck on the Z77 platform for the forseeable future.
  12. Err the controller does work with Windows 8.1. The bluetooth functionality doesn't, but the cabled functionality does, and the Microsoft wireless adaptor now works with Windows 7 and 8.1 as well as Windows 10.
  13. Ah okay, it's just that this thread suggests otherwise
  14. Thanks for your insight, however from what I can tell, you don't need batteries if you are running the device from the USB port? I won't usually use the wireless functionality anyway so the lack of a rechargable battery won't affect me much.
  15. Hello, I'm thinking about getting a controller for Gamecube emulated games and things like the Telltale game series and the Batman Arkham series. I've been looking at the Xbox One controller with the wired USB connection (I'm still on Windows 8.1 and Amazon UK don't stock the 2016 bluetooth version) so the USB connection is my only option. The Xbox One controller is £40 whereas the wired version of the 360 is £60, hence my decision to go for the Xbox One (alonside it's improved build quality and better triggers). I was wondering if anybody had any experience with the durability of the connection as I've read online about many usb ports breaking or becoming loose. If anybody has any insight into this, or personal experience with the controller I'd be very grateful! Thanks!
  16. Yeah good point, I'll wait it out. I've been looking at benchmarks of the Kirby Lake i7s (what I could find at least) and the performance difference between the 6700k and the 7700k seems very small. Would I be better off going for a 6700k when they drop in price instead of the Kirby i7? I'm a student so I'm trying to save money where I can. Thanks again.
  17. Thanks for the reply. Part of the reason I'm looking at the 4790k is due to me not needing to buy DDR4 Ram. I already have 16GB of DDR3 and it'll cost me another £80 just to maintain the same amount of ram if I move over to Kirby Lake. I have a Windows 7 disk and a key so can I use the disk and reinstall from the bios?
  18. Hello, I am currently thinking about upgrading my 3570K (4.2GHz) to a 4790k. I do quite a lot of video editing and photoshop work and I know the extra threads will help with this. I have a few questions about the upgrade. 1) How do I fresh install Windows 7 after installing the new board? 2) Will I see a decent improvement in video rendering times and streaming abilties? 3) Is the Asus Z97-Pro Gamer motherboard a good choice? 4) What kind of overclock can I expect to get with a Hyper 212 EVO (I realise this is silicone lottery based) Thanks very much.
  19. Hello, I am looking at buying a decent chair for gaming and desk work. My maximum budget is £180. I have been looking at the Ikea Markus however it does not seem to be padded and although I like the high back I am worried that it won't be comfortable. I have also looked at this chairhttp://www.staples.co.uk/executive-chairs/cbs/429041.html?effort_code=WW&promoCode=460460055&find_number=429041 I like the racing style and the ability to fold up the arms will be very useful. One other chair I have seen is a Flash Furniture one which is recommended from quite a few sites, however living in the UK means I can't find a seller (even on Ebay). Does anybody know where I could buy this particular chair? http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0091QTBYK/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B0091QTBYK&linkCode=as2&tag=topconsumersr-20&linkId=I5RIMNB55SWJXL7O The two main things I need in the chair are: 1) High back (so I can lean back and be fully supported) 2) Either removable or foldable arms (preferably foldable) Does anybody have any suggestions? I live fairly rurally but I can go up to Ikea and Staples on Saturday. Thanks
  20. I have a 3570K, I've ordered some cleaning liquid and I'll clean it tomorrow and reseat the cooler.
  21. The CISCO method looks pretty excessive? But I will give it a shot. Yes I'm using the correct mount and brackets. There is only one supplied for intel CPUs. Thanks for the help
  22. The fan is at 100%, no low noise adapter. I might buy some alcohol to clean the CPU and that might help, but I already spent £50 on the cooler and I'm pretty limited money-wise... Thanks for the help.
  23. I used a microfibre cloth. The NH-U14s should be miles ahead of the Hyper 212 EVO.
  24. Hello, I just changed my CPU cooler from a Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO to a Noctua NH-U14s. However my temperatures have risen considerably. On the EVO my max temp in Intel Burn Test was 85 degrees, now with the Noctua I have to stop it as its at 90 almost immediately. I have tried reseating the cooler and reapplying thermal paste using the small pea method. I'm getting desperate as I don't know what else I can do to troubleshoot. The only thing I can think of is that I didn't use a cleaning liquid to clean the CPU after I removed the EVO. The CPU is visibly clean though and I'm using Arctic Silver MX-4. Does anybody know what might be causing these temps? Thanks.
  25. UPDATE: I changed the voltage to offset mode, however now my CPU temps have skyrocketed to the point where I need to stop Intel Burn Test, and my volts are hitting 1.3v. I've been following this guide: http://www.overclock.net/t/1198504/complete-overclocking-guide-sandy-bridge-ivy-bridge-asrock-edition Does anybody know what is causing this?
