I'm having some trouble overclocking my ram. I just built a Ryzen rig and was able to OC it to 4.0 @ 1.375V. Before that and after so tried to OC my ram which is on the Asus QVL and rated at 3200. When I go into the bios and set the docp to 3200 and adjust the voltage, it won't "stick" after restarting. Yet the settings are saved to run it at 3200 but it's not actually running at 3200. Anyone else experiencing this issue? And yes I'm running the latest bios. Specs: Ryzen 1700x, Asus crosshair vi hero, g skill flare x 16gb 3200 Edit: I just tried to OC again and, at 3200 the pc shuts off after saving bios and restarts twice and boots on the third pass. But still running at 2400. So I tried 2933 then 2800mhz, but both made the pc restart once and boot on the second time. But everything still runs at 2400mhz.

Running two different resolution monitors off of a single gpu?

Thanks, good to know -
So im going to be ordering a new monitor for my new build. The acer xb271hu 1440p 144hz g-sync monitor. I will be using an evga gtx 1080ti ftw3 which I will use the display port for the monitor. I also have my current dell 1080p 60hz monitor which I want to keep using as a secondary (non-gaming monitor) which uses dual link dvi. So i'll be gaming off the 1440p one and using the 1080p one for watching videos and having chrome tabs open. Can I run both these monitors off of my gpu without suffering performance?

I'm going to be ordering parts for my build in about 2 weeks-ish and I'm trying to decide between the 7700k and Ryzen 7. I know, I know this question is overdone. Whatever chip I'm getting is going to be paired with a 1080ti and gaming @ 1440p with a 144hz g-sync monitor. The thing is, I mainly game but, I do want to start learning to video edit and work in photoshop as well as other adobe programs. I don't stream or anything like that. When gaming I also occasionally have twitch, youtube, discord, teamspeak or spotify open on my second non-gaming monitor. From some of the most recent benchmarks I've seen at 1440, Ryzen is pretty close to the 7700k especially with faster ram which I am planning on getting (3200 mhz). Also, what I really like about Ryzen is that the AM4 platform will be reused when newer chips come out, unlike intel where they almost constantly have a new motherboard you need to buy. Games I play most of the time: Overwatch, Rust survival, Arma 3 mutiplayer, Gta 5, PUBG, platformers, and Blackwake. And many more but the list will go on forever lol. I guess I'm just looking for the best game experience while being able to video edit and use adobe programs. So what are your guys' opinions?

Do you own that same ASUS motherboard? -
Im planning for my first build and can't really decide on a which motherboard to get. I have narrowed down my searches to these motherboards: 1) ASUS ROG MAXIMUS VIII HERO http://www.amazon.com/MAXIMUS-VIII-H.../dp/B012NH1SK8 2) MSI Z170A GAMING M7 http://www.amazon.com/MSI-Motherboar.../dp/B0131GA4PK 3)ASRock Z170 Extreme7+ http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813157627 4)Gigabyte GA-Z170X-Gaming 7 http://www.amazon.com/Gigabyte-LGA11.../dp/B012IBPJ6I I was originally planning on the asus motherboard, but the reviews are 50/50, if you own this ASUS motherboard tell me how you like it and if it performs well. This will also be my first build. Here are the parts for the build: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/wpXs99 Thanks in advanced

I also gtg for now, but I'll be sure to message if I got some questions

Thanks for the help man much appreciated, I'll definitely consider the build you setup. And as for the Ethernet, unfortunately no I have to move my setup to a different room away from the router.

I mean, if I can get a 1080p monitor 144hz thats an IPS for around the same price, sure
