  1. 3rd party tools do detect it though? It's likely just not formatted or formatted in an improper manner for windows, use something like partition wizard or whatever tool you like and reformat it.
  2. Has it worked before? Have you checked the IP addresses are correct and match? Have you verified the host and client are both on and connected to the same network? Is the host still allowing the connection? Is you router, or whatever network set up, allowing rdp?
  3. were there multiple partition on the SSD? Do you have a device to connect the SSD to to inspect/view it?
  4. Then, I suggest booting to a live OS to try and change the settings or removing the asus tweak program from windows. Alternatively, you can find another card(or buy some cheap potato) and try the method previously linked.
  5. Can you use on board video and/or another card? Have you tried resetting the bios? "alot of ways" doesn't tell use anything. http://www.overclock.net/t/593427/how-to-unbrick-your-bricked-graphics-card-fix-a-failed-bios-flash
  6. Most people don't have use for one til they get one Plex actually makes a nas much more practically for "streaming" your media remotely. I just recommend using freenas since it has a plex addon and it allows you to make more use of the server in the same manner.
  7. I have pet CPUs as well, saved from the first computers I had
  8. A hub won't add bandwidth, just split up the single USBs across more ports. That said, a powered hub will work fine for charging, any device that can't use all the available bandwidth. An expansion card will technically add bandwidth. I would, and did, get a hub since its charging and since most devices/users are reading and writing enough at a time to be bottlenecked by the usb ports limits. Just hop to amazon and find a powered hub with decent reviews since there are dozens.
  9. Might even be able to open 3 tabs at once Perhaps a media/file server, freenas and plex
  10. As @yarn said, bad bad idea for security. But, either way, you'll need some static IP or domain, you'll need to set up freenas to allow WAN access and SFTP(secure ftp), and probably a few router/modem settings to tinker with. I believe freenas has a fairly straight forward setup for ftp
  11. It seems like either your router or laptop has the IP set up wrong, normally its just a matter of the laptop being set to a static IP rather than to automatically obtain. I would try restarting your router first and forgetting the network on your laptop. If your laptop is set to automatically obtain an IP, try setting a static IP appropriate for your network and make sure your router doesn't have reserved IPs(if it does just delete your laptop from the list). If you're having trouble connecting other devices, its possible the router is at fault, check the lan/ip settings on it. You could also just reset the router if you don't mind to set it up again.
  12. I'm fairly sure I know the answer, but I'm grasping at straws to avoid buying a new card. The computer has been working just fine for months, turned it off one night, and the next day there was no post. Checked the ram, power, everything. Finally changed the gpu out for some old card and it worked. The current card gets power, after switching cards everything works. I5 6600 Gtx 780 Asus z170 e I'm assuming it's the card, and it's just dead... Any thoughts?
  13. When people say windows isn't able to be customized...

    1. SQZY98

      SQZY98

I feel the same when people say android is ugly.

  14. When a site doesn't support chrome, but supports safari and explorer and firefox, I cringe abit

Can you set a custom user agent field in chrome to trick the site into thinking its not chrome? Or does it ACTUALLY not work due to an issue with chrome?

  15. The image isn't working, since the address says localhost Im guessing you either tried uploading from the lan address or linus is struggling. So the generic tips would be try redownloading and burning a new boot media if you followed the correct steps to make a bootable drive and you're sure the hardware is compatible.
  16. Not quite, while you can forward you remote connection over the internet. 1) security 2)the time it takes to send and receive both input and video will be like 10 second lag and latency from hell If you were on the same local network then yes, but over even just 2 hops, you'd be suffering to even walk about
  17. That looks more delicious and gay than Neil Patrick Harris
  18. Starting college monday, I don't even know the names of the buildings xD this should be interesting

  19. A) Have you tried updating and calibration? B) Take it to a local store if there is one, be an asshole, and have the "geek" or "genius" test it out in front of you. Kindness doesn't always work with customer support, sometimes you have to just act stupid.
  20. That would be best yes since the hdd will have lower speeds anyway.
  21. Well, The $4 five meter led strip came with a lovely keychain but no driver or powersupply or adapters of any kind.

Side note, this key chain is terrifying and I will be burning it tomorrow simply because it looks like some ancient cursed token.

  22. I believe so, print will print the return of a function or of a whatever if given, not the actually program. Just call the function, no need to print it.
  23. The OS is protected without doubt and they have previously threatened actions of the mock ups -aqua wiki Most cases are old or not mentioned http://www.macworld.com/article/1021072/stardock.html And it says it well, its a murky area. Everyone gets inspiration from something, and you cant claim ownership to someone elses work because yours inspired it if it is quite different. The line for copyright on a GUI is if it is "easily confused with another by an average user". So they can protect aqua all day, but the feel of it will be the factor that decides the legality. The feel can be remarkably close as long as its easily distinguished. But the use of water like effects. lots of shadows and reflections, and layout won't be enough. When apple went against MS about an aqua skin it was focused on the way the skin was described(Pearl dug their grave with that) and the icons. Images, Icons, and other small features may spare them. That being said, if you ever saw Pear OS(mac OS like Linux) it was rumored apple cause it to go bye-bye, but no end users were taken out. I would imagine that if Pearl is found to be "confusingly similar" to OSX then the same will happen. I would also refer you to the constant battle of Apple and Samsung. So as of now it is legal, will it be in a year is another question. Will it ever effect you? only if and when apple forces Pearl to end support. On another note, I would recommend you use another linux is its for daily use, not only because Pearl has a small community but they also note their own instability. Linux is able to be customized to about anything(Ricing) and ubuntu has many GUI options(gnome and kde, the ones used in Pearl). and a large community to help with such.
  24. Aside from racing games, I don't think I'd care to smell most games(especially not war games)
  25. It seems okay, keep in mind ALOT of linux and unix-like OSs and components are open-source. It does look alot like OSX and apple software, but 1)I'm sure someone with will and skill could mock it up no problem, 2) I dont think the general "feel" of MacOS OSX is trademarked or copyrighted. Either way, in alot of cases like this, even if part of it was "taken" its usually the devs and the company or group that suffers rather than persecuting every(nearly untraceable) user. I'm going to try it out
