  1. My fiancee just bought this monitor to get a higher refresh rate, we're using a displayport 1.2 cable to connect it to her graphics card. It should be 75hz but when we look at the resolution part of nvidia control panel it says 60hz, but in screen size it says 75 and I'm confused
  2. oh, I only tried 1080 because I didn't really want to even do 720 but I might try that at some point when I get home
  3. no problem, and to be clear it's very good on the tv, but at first I had attempted on my monitor cause I wanted to have a whole all gaming on one setup thing but now I have the switch in the living room because of it.
  4. oh yeah sorry didn't clarify, yeah pretty much, not a very good experience I just do handheld now, unless the tv is free
  5. tried it on 4k, so I'd assume 1440p would be somewhat similar just a little-scaled back. Short of the matter, would not advise.
  6. Thank you very much, yeah I was planning on getting the minimum RAM but that one can only have a HDD or SSD and I can't afford a big enough M.2 drive and another version of Windows.
  7. My PC did this for a while in the lead up to a big update, and from my asking around a lot of people seemed to think that the imminent update was what was causing this but it later turned out to be my internet provider doing maintenance work because them tampering with the network in the way that they were seemed to override my don't wake on LAN settings for some reason, sorry if that isn't very helpful and may not be the case for you, I'm not the most knowledgeable in this.
  8. Hey all, I'm a Games Programming Student and I am needing to update my laptop, and I use it for light gaming when on the move, and a lot of programming. My budget would be around £1000 at a stretch and atm I have my eyes on the Dell Inspiron 15 7000 (https://www.amazon.co.uk/Dell-Inspiron-Gaming-Laptop-i5-7300HQ/dp/B01NAW8DX0/ref=sr_1_2?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1499774359&sr=1-2&keywords=dell%2Binspiron%2B15%2B7000&th=1) or quite possibly the HP Omen (https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01N1UA5RC/ref=psdc_429886031_t3_B01NAW8DX0). Usually, I prefer to have a 1TB HDD and 12-16gb of RAM (does anyone know if the Omen is upgradable). However, I have a history of making very bad laptop decisions my last two laptops have been terrible so I was wondering if anyone who probably knows a lot more than me can see that I'm being an idiot had any better suggestions or know of any reliable laptops for less or are either of those a good choice? Kind regard and thanks for any help in advance, Aleem
  9. I'm trying to cut down the costs of this new hypothetical build, whilst keeping the mini ITX mobo, 1050Ti, 8gb RAM, quad core cpu, boot ssd and then hdd for storage and the mini ITX case. May be building a budget gaming pc for younger sister and these are the things i was trying to add but somehow it still ends up above £500, budget is below £500.

Anything not included already possess(or can get free + would rather stick to stock cpu cooler)

  10. really? I didnt realise, but I saw loads of good reviews for my Acer and my hp lasted ages... so I guess I was just lucky with my hp?
  11. I was literally about to recommend that tbh lol
  12. In terms of futureproofing HP make very good long lasting laptops in their pavilion range and in fact I have had one for four years and I would still be using today had I not dropped it and broken the screen (they discontinued replacement screens for my model) and I decided that I wanted to upgrade as it was so I have a new one, however there is a very good current model of hp pavilion with nvidia graphics, not the 10 series though, that I would recommend if you're looking for long lasting
  13. to be completely honest I think apple struck gold in phone design with the 5S and then I like all the updated hardware in the SE so I think that the SE ought to be their flagship(despite it being made by their accountants)
