  1. Go for used parts. Your motherboard is actually really good. Assuming its the Asus H97M-E. I used this motherboard for my temporary gaming ring and it was awesome. Your motherboard can support NVMe SSDs there is a slot right below the CPU. Expect to only do better than 33% of a normal SATA SSD, these are my performance numbers with a new Gen4 NVMe SSD. Get the cheapest NVMe drive you can that is reputable. You can get an decent NVMe SSD for $100/1TB or $55/500GB You can also benefit from upgrading your current processor, I would recommend an i7 4770 since you have a non overclocking board. These old processors go for a little over $100 these days. I wish you could get a better GPU, if you can score GTX 980 for a good price that would be perfect. Facebook market and Offerup is your friend. You can find really good deals on there. Here is my temporary gaming with an i7 4770K, H97M-E, 4TB NVMe SSD, 16GB RAM and GTX 980. It gamed like a champ on 1080p. Recommended parts: ~$200 NVMe SSD 1TB: https://www.newegg.com/team-group-1tb-mp33-pro/p/N82E16820331563 CPU: https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2380057.m570.l1313&_nkw=i7+4770&_sacat=0
  2. This really is a non-issue. They have freedom to dress how they want. LMG has a pretty active and movable environment so comfort is necessary for the employees. There will always be a time and a place for a suit but it is not as necessary anymore. The critical things are... Coming to work with clean non-ripped clothes. Daily showers Body deodorant. Brushing your teeth.
  3. You can potentially run the laptop as an RTMP server and get decent results, I have a similar hardware to you. Maybe you would need to use the "fastest" preset since you don't have hyper threading on your i5. Gaming PC i7 4770K/GTX 980 -> Stream PC i7 4710HQ/GTX 850 -> Twitch. Here is the quality I get at 720p 60fps, 6000k bitrate on a "faster" cpu preset. My laptop has a i7 4710HQ processor.
  4. Hello all! I used to have a custom water loop build with a 900D with all the bells and whistles. It was a good high end consumer PC with an i7 4770K, SLI GTX 980s, 16GB RAM, 2TB SSD, ROG Maximus Formula 6. Then 2 years ago my motherboard died and it all went to waste. I didn't repair it since I couldn't find another Formula board for cheap. I wanted to wait for Ampere and Rocket lake but since those were taking a long time to release plus stock issues I decide to throw down a few hundred on a temporary PC that will become a stream server for twitch. I bought a lot of parts on eBay and Facebook market. Fun Facts! I love Asus and their ROG line. I like to but Asus so I was biased in buying their stuff. When I saw the Asus PC case I knew I was going to go for a "semi-sleeper" PC. I'm actually sitting on a ROG Helios and Thor I'm saving for my next big build. The case was nearly perfect. Except that it had a front air vent that looked like it should have fitted a 92mm fan but it didn't have mounting holes. So I drilled in some mounting holes and I cut out a square hole in the plastic front panel and put a mesh filter. The M.2 SATA SSD has Ubuntu Server on it for my eventual stream server. I do some Linux based C programming on the side so the server will be great for me to SSH into from my main PC. I might attempt to put a ASUS 3090 Strix in here or I might get the new ASUS/EK water cooled single slot cards and put in an external loop. 5. I saw that my pre-built case had a 92mm fan vent but mounting holes and the front panel cover blocked air flow. I cut out 92x92mm square and drilled some mounting holes. Temps are decent for an i7 4770k at ~4.3Ghz. ~55°c
  6. Damn... Is the chip on the CPU or Motherboard? (I assume CPU)
  7. Yes, I've used the clear CMOS button on my MB various times. Gonna use my brothers PC tomorrow! I started fresh with a downgraded bios. I got Windows 8 through my school in 2013 then did the free upgrade to windows 10. Even fresh installed straight from windows 10 once before. It was all legit and activated. It just started having these issues in the past two months.
  8. So..... My PC just decided to shutdown every 30 minutes EXACTLY. I've already watched the time several times. Also previously to this issue I was experiencing ME FW update failures (plus downgrade spinlock issues) when I would start my PC. My PC would hang and throw various error code before rebooting itself several times to Windows. Swap GPU and PSU into my brothers PC which uses a corsair PSU and has no GPU. I ordered a new BIOS chip for $15 just in case. Positives AX1200i has a 10 year warranty New BIOS chip is cheap. Will update!
  9. You're a Software Engineer, you adapt to what is needed. Sometimes you need to pull a Tony Stark.... Companies should invest more in helping student at least acquire internship over the summer to learn an become capable programmers. It would definitely help in confidence.
  10. You could wait for VEGA, or settle for a 1080p 144hz monitor for now. You can grab a decent one $275.
  11. This is better....
  12. Just wait for Ryzen R3 CPUs and pair it up with a RX 570/560
  13. Best case scenario... Wait for AMDs 4 core Ryzen R3 processors and pair it up with a R7 470 with 8GB ram.
