  1. Thanks for the update Nick! Much appreciated.
  2. If it matters, I haven’t received mine either yet.
  3. Hi guys, So I’m planning on building a new rig and, with the incredibly high price of DDR4 at the moment with the NAND chip shortage, do you think it would be worth waiting a little longer, or do you think prices will stay high for quite some time? Thanks
  4. I didn’t even consider that, good point!
  5. I think I may wait, even if it’s not an improvement I may find the the 1600 gets a little cheaper
  6. I was planning to go with the i5-8400 as it isn’t too different in price compared to the 1600 where I live, but I didn’t want to go for a Z370 board as I wouldn’t need the overclocking capabilities. I was tempted by the 1600 for a few reasons, the cheaper motherboard, the over locking and the more threads, as I plan to run a few servers in virtual box. The rig rig I have right now it a pile of crap, but I think it’ll last a few more months.
  7. Hi guys, I’m in the process of upgrading my build and don’t know whether I should wait or not. I’ve decided to go Ryzen 1600 with a GTX 1070 however logic would dictate that Ryzen 2 would be released around February time. Do you think it’s worth waiting that little bit longer?
  8. I've found some reasonably priced Corsair Vengance that I'll reccomend. Thanks anyways!
  9. Yeah, my mistake. I selected DDR4 as a filter on amazon, it seems that it can't filter properly.
  10. Hi There, My friend has ordered all of the parts for his new build except the memory, as it was out of stock. All that is in stock for UK suppliers (that I could find) is either 1x8GB at 2133MHz or 2x4GB at 1866MHz, what would you guys reccomend? Are the benefits of the extra speed prevelant over the Dual Channel? I know it would be ideal to get more, but he's on a tight budget. He'll be able to upgrade later though. Thanks Ps. It's a Ryzen 5 1600
  11. Forgot to mention, I already have a couple.
  12. Hi Everyone, I built my current PC in January 2015, it was on a strict budget and wasn't originally going to be for gaming, but I was entised by the glorious PCMR. Anyway... My plan for this year is to definetly get the CPU, Cooler, Motherboard and RAM so that I can get a solid platform to expand upon. I do want to get excellent performace out of the system while also having it look aesthetically pleasing. Obviously I have chosen parts that I think will be flexible, like the high wattage PSU. If I use it in future builds or add more power hungry parts it will do just fine in handling them. I just wanted your thoughts as you may bring a different perspective to the partslist. ---- PCPartPicker part list: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/HtCWpb CPU: AMD - Ryzen 5 1600 3.2GHz 6-Core Processor (£186.99 @ Amazon UK) CPU Cooler: Cooler Master - Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler (£26.32 @ Novatech) Motherboard: Asus - STRIX B350-F GAMING ATX AM4 Motherboard (£109.89 @ BT Shop) Memory: Team - Dark 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-3000 Memory (£119.99 @ Overclockers.co.uk) Storage: Western Digital - Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive (£41.99 @ Aria PC) Video Card: EVGA - GeForce GTX 1060 6GB 6GB GAMING Video Card (£266.48 @ Amazon UK) Case: Phanteks - ECLIPSE P400 TEMPERED GLASS ATX Mid Tower Case (£87.80 @ Alza) Power Supply: Corsair - RMx 750W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply (£109.96 @ PC World Business) Monitor: Asus - VG248QE 24.0" 1920x1080 144Hz Monitor (£225.00 @ Aria PC) Total: £1174.42 ---- Thank you for any feedback in advance PS. I already have peripherals, Logitech G810 and Logitech G502 **EDIT** Forgot to add, I already have a couple of SSD's, which is why there are none on the parts list
  13. My friend has asked me to put together a build for around £700 (excluding monitor and speakers). He wants to mainly do day-day tasks but also does a little bit of video editing and gaming aswell. I've put this together : https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/Dw3Hyf I chose the Ryzen 5 1500X as I wanted him to have the 4c/8t aspect and (atleast in the UK) there is a £10 difference between the 1400 and 1500X. I added the Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo as I want the system to stay cooler than stock and, in the future, be able to have an overclock if neccecary. The Asus Prime B350 Plus isn't anything special but I wanted him to have an ATX board and it gets decent reviews. I put 16GB of HyperX Fury Black (2x8GB) in because I feel that is the most suitable amount of Memory for systems of this day and age to have. Storage wise there is a 120GB HyperX 3K SATA SSD for the OS and programs, something I see as a necessity with the lowering cost of them. There is also a 1TB WD Caviar Blue for Mass Storage and Games. The Video Card I chose is an EVGA 1050Ti which should pack enough punch for 1080p gaming and light video editing. For the case I found the Fractal Design Core 2300, a reasonably priced and reasonably good looking case. I definetly wanted something windowless as (especially with the PSU cables) the finished product won't be the nicest looking thing you've laid your eyes on. The PSU is the EVGA 500B, again nothing special but is reasonably priced, gives us 500W and is from a reputable brand. The cables though... Finally, Keyboard and Mouse was a hard choice. I use a G810 and a G502 but they were out of the question. The other set I used to use were the 'CM Storm Devastator' bundle. They felt alright to use, looked decent and were quite cheap so I threw them in. If anyone has any feedback I'd love to hear it as I've got a few months before this will be built.
  14. The board advertises AM3 cooler compatibility so we decided to It instead of waiting to get the mounting hardware from the cooler manufacturer that could have taken weeks. The build is needed as soon as possible.
  15. I've given it a try and it hasn't worked. I'll try and see if I can get some DDR4 to try, maybe from a local store or something.
  16. It hasn't worked. Ill see if I can get the BIOS Flashback to work.
  17. I'll give that a try. Because the POST code is 'Ad' ("Ready to boot event") that may be the case.
  18. Do you reckon it may be worth flashing the BIOS to the latest version? **EDIT** Just realised I can't if I can't access it in the first place
  19. I've cleared the CMOS and tried with one stick already. The model is on the QVL list (CMK16GX4M2A2400C16), but what I didn't realise is that the Version (Ver5.29) isn't on there. Could that be what is preventing the POST?
  20. Hi LTT Community, I'm in the process of building a computer (https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/DkQzxY) for my Step-Dad, he wanted to buy a pre-built one but I advised him that for the price range he was looking at, he would be better off having me build one. The Crosshair VI's Q-Code LED's (below the main display) help by indicating failures for DRAM, CPU, VGA and BOOT. My DRAM one is lit up. The post code is 'Ad'. It isn't posting, there is no visual output on the display and I can't get into the BIOS. I've moved each DIMM individually into each slot, each time I try to POST the DRAM error indicator still lights up. When I try to boot with no RAM the indicator still lights up but the POST code is '4B' (which is to do with RAM) and the light still remains on (although I suspect that is due to the lack of RAM) I have no other motherboard to try and no other DDR4 I can use to troubleshoot the problem. I have no reason to suspect any fault with the CPU as the LED indicating that the CPU is 'ready to boot' is green and the LED next to that of the DRAM one isn't lit. I have swapped the GPU for a GT610 (so that the GTX 1070 isn't what is failing to output a signal. Additionally, booting with no GPU yields the same results.) and I've changed the HDMI cable and monitor to ensure that they aren't at fault. Still nothing. I could try swapping the PSU from my PC but as I have an LGA1150 system the Motherboard and RAM can't be used as it is DDR3. If anyone has any troubleshooting steps I could try that would be greatly appreciated. I have included some pictures, I'm not sure if they'll help. Thanks, Sam Ps. I was going to build the PC on Friday however half way through the build I was going to install the CPU Cooler but stupidly forgot to get AM4 mounting hardware for it. I tried to post it very quickly without a cooler to ensure everything was working but that failed. I presumed it was due to the lack of a cooler and that it was a safety mechanism not to boot but I did not investigate it further. I presume that the memory was at fault then aswell. **EDIT** The RAM is Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4-2400, which is advertised as supporting Ryzen.
  21. I see where you're coming from. I like the G502 as it has an ergonomically comfortable shape and the adjustable weights (as I like a heavy mouse), it's all a matter of optinion I guess.
  22. Title says it all. Just interested in what peripherals you guys are using or would like to use. I'll start, I'm using the Logitech G810 and the Logitech G502. They're personally my favourite as I enjoy the Romer G experience and are comfortable to use. I used to use some cheap Cooler Master keyboard I bought at Insomnia 55 (a UK gaming festival if you don't know). ps. I'd be interested in what @LinusTech, @Slick, @nicklmg, @CPotter, @jmart604, @TaranLMG and @jakkuh_t like to use.
