  1. If sony, lg, samsung any other tv manufactures teamed up with nvidia to include a nvidia shield built into the tv I would consider purchasing it. RCA has roku built in but compared to the shield is is crap. Think there would be a market for this? I am not talking about the BFGD nvidia announced last year. This seems to be more of a high refresh rate monitor compared to a every day tv
  2. Linus should have said something different and not what he said. It does come down it is his company and he can choose who does what.
  3. When I download an iso for example. I would like crome or a background program to move the file to a set folder. Just the files ending with a .iso nothing else
  4. They could just include the forward breakout cable. I think that is the one they need.
  5. I am sitting here doing my monthly dust bunny clean out of my systems. Looking at my nas and then looking at my desktop got me thinking my desktop has 6 sata3 ports, now I know the SFF8087 only does 4 but with the x399 chipse it can do upto 12 sata ports. The quick math can result in the SFF8087 being cheaper or the same price as 4 sata cables. Couldn't case manufactures also take advantage of this as well and install a board that just needs power and a SFF8087 port?
  6. in the diagram it was an example I am also looking at and possibly playing with this as it wouldn't take much to saturate a 10gb network. Its all in the planing stage and until fiber comes in there is no point on setting this up. I also am hardly home these days.
  7. except for the pfsense it will all be unifi based
  8. now that I think about it this is almost like the current setup I have, using cheap dlink switches from my ISP I am planning on a complete rework of my home network. I ran 4 cat6 lines to every room and some with multiple runs. All coming to 1 central location that was going to be a rack of some sort. With fiber coming to my house next year I hope and my plex needs have increased. I was hopping soon to have 1 machine be just a nas. Another for plex server and last but might getg incorporated into the nas is a download box. The multiple imputs on the pfsense is that there is deals from isp's that are fairly good and allow me a backup connection.
  9. Take an example Router has 4 ethernet ports. Not counting the wan one. I also have 4 5 port switches connected to the router. as seen in my cruel attached image. If I want to transfer data from switch 1 port 1 to switch 4 port 4 I understand it will have to go through the router if I transfer data from switch 2 port 1 to switch 2 port 2 does this also go though the router? I am thinking yes I only ask cause I would like to buld a pfsense machine. I am thinking 4 10/100/1000 ports as an in and 2 10gb sfp+ ports out with possibly 2 more as there will be a lot of data running internally in the network.
  10. try rebooting/holding the reset button if that doesn't work
  11. had a thought after this. bluetooth reciever. we haul out the speakers and then connect it there. Plan is to run 2 lines to out door speakers we mount on the outside by the garage door that also has the screen. this will allow us to use our phones to play music/the game when we are just sitting around
  12. fairly often our family does an outdoor movie during the summer months. hauling out the projector and shady speaker setup. I have a nvidia shield that I use. I got thinking i belive it has bluetooth in it. Anyone know of a way or a setup were I can use bluetooth speakers and not use the amp/speaker setup? Can I uses more than 1 speaker at a time? Power source is right at the screen. Will save some tripping hazards
  13. Does this usually happen when the phone rings. If you have dial tone.
  14. like the title says I have a laptop that came with windows 10. I would like to completely wipe the HDD clean and install windows 10 like new. Preferably with out all the crap HP puts on the laptop
  15. Sasktel. Believe telus and bell have the same setup. Saw a youtube video were AES New Instructions is needed or preferred for pfsense. the 2100t does not support it. I haven't given much thought in the setup, mainly because I have never tried pfsense before.
  16. I upgraded my uinraid server CPU from a 2100t to a xeon 1270 v2. plus the ram. 4gb-16gb. I have been wanting to play with PFSENCE and will eventually incorporate it into my network. Hardware I have and plan on getting Have 2100t 1155 socket 4gb ECC memory getting all unifi gear. 10gbps switch and a 48 port POE switch. various AP including some outdoor stuff. security cameras 3-5 of them. with my current situation I have DSL at my house that I rent out to roommates. I work and live in a different city with GPON fiber. I would like to bypass all the ISP equipment and connect the fiber directly to the PFSENCE machine. So far all my research has said it can not be done. Eventually home(dsl) will be my main connection and wont get done till fiber get to the area, Next year hopefully. Would the 2100t be good enough for this setup?
  17. to change channel you will need to do it manually in the router. there are various apps/programs to use to scan your network
  18. try playing with the wifi channels. If possible select the same channel as others but with the least # of networks on that channel/
  19. twice this week so far. ISP modem/wifi/router was on channel 11, no speed. Moved to channel 1 and boom full speed.
  20. wifi router model? Just your PC or other devices around the house? never mind just read again do you have a phone? get an app that scans your wifi and what channels are in use and how many wifi networks are in the area
  21. past experience has resulting in a few findings Android box blocking all the wifi. Would unplug it and boom wifi works great. plug it back in and once booted wifi went to the toilet. house that was the only network and something was blocking both the 2.4 and 5. No idea, tried multiple channels, AP/equipment everything but to this day no idea why no speed. house construction, one house would block all the signal. install the AP in the bedroom and once you step out gone just gone. we have used various tools to scan the network for other wifi networks and see what there channels are on.
  22. short answer it is wifi, 40 ap can cause issues as they are all competing for space
  23. more curiosity, I also have multiple colored ports around my house Could use the blue jacks for isp1 and the orange jacks for isp 2.
  24. don't have much experience with managed switches.
