  1. I'm looking to build a computer that will serve as a media/game server. I'm mainly focused on single threaded performance. I already have a case 1TB HDD, and PSU. I would like this to be as cheap as possible. So what I need is a CPU, MOBO, 8GB+ ram, and a small OS SSD. I'd like to get those parts for sub $300 USD. (and maybe another HDD) My first thought was to use an older CPU/MOBO to help keep costs down, but I'm only familiar with Sandy Bridge and newer CPUs. If I'm going in a completely wrong direction feel free to let me know. If you need me I'll be browsing wikipedia and ebay part hunting.
  2. I will have to prostitute myself out to buy this card but it will be worth it (hopefully). To say I've been looking forward to this card's release would be an understatement. Months upon months of rumors. I just want something to replace my 670 and I wanted to see AMD's reply to 900 series.
  3. Have there been any pictures of it posted on twitter, or anything? Pics or riot!
  4. Most of the time I use dropbox to keep important word docs synced between all my devices. I also have an old PC which I use as a NAS that is 100% totally reliable for storing larger files on long-term.
  5. I have 3 monitors, but I only game on 1 (different resolutions). It's nice being able to have most of my windows visible all the time. Also it's nice for productivity reasons.
  6. Stahp the resolution battle on phone screens! We get it, you have more pixels. I don't want to see phones with little to no improvement in battery life because someone wanted more pixels. (this is coming from a G3 owner). And on a related note, I'd wager most people would take better battery life over thinness anyway.
  7. I hope AT&T gets rekt. Unfortunately I don't think much will come of this, they'll just rename their service without actually changing a thing, or worse just take away "unlimited" data.
  8. Thank god I don't play any very demanding games, I'm still comfortable with my 670. Also college took all my monies, so I couldnt afford it anyway. I hope they have a good reason for releasing so much later than Nvidia though.
  9. I plan to use it as offsite storage/backup and for hosting a TS server and the occasional gameserver (nothing very demanding). I was thinking of running the OS off of a low capacity SSD. This is all I'm really certain of so far. As for storage drives, I doubt I'd need something like a WD Red drive as it won't be in constant use. I'll probably start out with (2) 3TB drives in raid 1. I have a spare PSU and case so already so those don't need to be factored into the cost. I'd like to keep the price of the mobo, cpu, ram, and drives below 500USD. Halp!
  10. The 980 is not enough! I think dual gpu cards are cool and all that, but for me it's not worth the loss in performance and thermals. I'd rather just stick another 980 in there. So since there won't be a 980 Ti, we should all just move on. Gib GM210 PL0X!!!
  11. @Eyal I'd be quite pleased to see a 512 bit memory bus from Nvidia, but it probably isn't going to happen. I would have liked to see more memory on the 980 than the 970 as well. Not that I need 4GB or more, I just expect more differences between the cards. I'm totally going to buy one...
  12. I wouldn't expect much of a PPD increase from overclocking at all. Both my cpu and gpu are overclocked and it doesn't make much of a difference. But my OC temps are still very acceptable ~60 on the cpu and ~67 on the gpu. I have heard that OC can lead to problems when folding e.g. failed WUs. I OC for gaming and I'm too lazy to remove the OC when I fold.
  13. I've made it 2 years with my current phone, I plan on continuing my streak.
  14. I can wait. And I will enjoy waiting with me sweet Android phone. Probably should have mentioned that I'm not interested in the iphone.
