Zagna got a reaction from GekkePietert in Bandwidth of GPU, VRAM, PCIe confusion.
GPUs don't operate in bits per second, rather floating point operations per second.
And a single pixel requires more than a single operation to be calculated.
And with that diagram, the diagram is more like this...

With the PCIe, you only load few gigabytes worth of assets, models, textures and such. And those are fed by a HDD/SSD usually operating at SATA speeds so under 600MB/s.
After that the GPU does a lot of read and write operations while rendering a frame and that's where the bandwidth comes into play.

It looks like the DDR pins connect nowhere and all it does is provide a mechanical place to mount a M.2 SATA drive and connect it with the SATA power/data.

Ryzen CPUs have 24 PCIe 3.0 lanes which are split the following
16x for GPU on B350/B450 boards, 16x or 8x/8x on X370/X470 boards 4x for a dedicated NVMe slot 4x for a chipset connection which also has 8 PCIe 2.0 lanes which is used for 1x slots Ryzen Threadripper CPUs have 64 PCIe 3.0 lanes of which 4 lanes are dedicated to the chipset and rest distributed between the various 16x/8x slots and NVMe ports.

    You're comparing a i7-6850K which is a HEDT chip to a mainstream i7-9700K.
Mainstream has always had 16 CPU lanes + whatever PCH gives. HEDT always has more so you could look at the i9 series for 44 PCIe CPU lanes.

Delock go you covered, Delock PCI Express Card > 4 x internal M.2 Key B with RAID.
Or, Delock 2.5″ Converter SATA 22 pin > 2 x M.2 with RAID with Enclosure.
For the cost of the quad adapter, you could buy a proper 1TB SSD though.

Go a step further, since these Xeons are multiple substrates… get a Xeon Bronze, cheapest XCC and transplant the Platinum's primary on the XCC's secondary.

Zagna got a reaction from lucagrabacr in Ants colonized my hard drive, would the platter still be ok?
Behind that hole is a tiny high grade air filter so that the internals can normalize air pressure. Ants could easily just chew through it since it's very small.
As soon as that filter is punctured, all the internals are contaminated, platters, read/write heads, everything.

Zagna got a reaction from lucagrabacr in Ants colonized my hard drive, would the platter still be ok?
The moment any contaminant enter the internals, which looks like happened there, those contaminants scratch and damage the platters destroying everything.

It has 2x RAM, 2x SSD, 2x HDD compared to the other build for roughly 7300DKK/10000SEK which is cool 1400SEK less than the other build. So surprisingly good value from Komplett.
Even the peripherals can be found for a nice price, keyboard for 350DKK and a mouse for 300DKK. So the entire setup for under 8000DKK/11000SEK.
Better components for less, I'd say get it now before the discounts run out on the 19th.
SE.pcpartpicker.com, pcpc provides localized versions in addition of the usd/www.

Best setup could be, Komplett's discounted Ryzen Value Gamer 2600, some storage and a half decent monitor on discount.
That's 6000DKK+530DKK+800DKK, nice bit left for peripherals?
