  1. Microwaves interfere with 2.4Ghz wireless signals. If you move away from the microwave and the issue disappears you have nothing to worry about.
  2. For the glass, maybe try some automotive glass repair resin? I have never used it so I don't know the cons of using it, but that is one option. For the boards/PSU, honestly go over them at a component level like Louis Rossman does and find the skidmark or thing that looks broken. The board isn't magic, it is resistors, capacitors, and controllers. Most of these components can be easily and cheaply replaced if you can find their values.
  3. CPU: Core i7 5820k @ 4.3Ghz GPU: Gigabyte G1 Gaming GTX 980ti RAM: 16GB G-Skill DDR4 2133Mhz Score: 10.8
  4. I'm not really a camera person, but I really liked the Smart Switch feature. Looks like a really nice way to move from your old phone!
  5. Does the monitor work fine when connecting to a different PC or laptop?
  6. Pretty sure? Does it or doesn't it?
  7. Does the monitor work while connected to the motherboard video outputs?
  8. Have had no issues on Windows 10 gaming yet. I did a clean install though on release day.
  9. Have you tried the motherboard display connectors? Sometimes you need to set the video output to be PCI-E. To set this, you first need to connect using the iGPU(The GPU built into the CPU).
  10. Hiding your IP isn't that hard. Streaming doesn't expose your home IP address, so someone is getting your IP another way. Don't run programs like Skype, they can expose your IP address. A VPN is a pretty unnecessary precaution unless you need to use programs that expose your IP, like Skype.
  11. Yeah this will be my last MSI board...
  12. Just got off the phone with both MSI and Gigabyte. Gigabyte support was helpful trying to troubleshoot motherboard settings even though it is a MSI board. We couldn't get it fixed unfortunately. MSI support was helpful this time, the support agent provided me with a beta BIOS that was unreleased hoping for it to fix the issue, but it didn't. I guess I am stuck again. Both support reps said nearly the same thing "well we aren't going to purchase/obtain a competitors product to make sure they are compatible, all of our own branded stuff is guaranteed to work". wtf? Here I am expecting a standardized platform with PCI Express, where any card can work with any mobo/chipset. Am I expected to be locked into a brand for my GPU when I make my motherboard purchase now? I chose the Gigabyte card because from reviews it is a cream of the crop card, reaching over 1500Mhz consistently, and now I can't use it because MSI won't maintain compatibility a couple generations ahead. /endrant
  13. Welp, im out of ideas. I just finished flashing my new card to a beta bios as recommended by MSI, and the card acts the same. Curiously enough, I can use the card on my brothers older AMD system. His motherboard is using the AMD 970 chipset, but when I tried with my cousins H81 board, the card didn't work. I guess my only hope is to get MSI or Gigabyte to fix the incompatibility, and I am not hopeful they care enough to get BIOS engineers to fix the incompatibility of a competitors product. I don't really know who to blame here. My MSI motherboard runs great and gave me a really good OC on my 3570k, and has been rock solid for years. The Gigabyte card works in another PC, so I don't know if I can really fault it here. I guess I will continue to try to get a hold of someone at MSI phone support that doesn't want to just get me off the phone.
  14. Just got my replacement card, and it has the exact same behavior as the old one. Looks like the motherboard might be the problem, some sort of incompatibility. chrisw_de has the same mobo/gpu combo and he is having issues as well. In PM's I have been talking to him about this issue, and he is getting a new motherboard soon so we should be able to answer this finally. I am going to try to contact MSI to see what can be done about the incompatibility. EDIT: MSI support recommended looking for a VGA BIOS update, and it looks like there was one released 5 days ago, but I can't get into windows, or even keep the PC on to update/flash it. Any ideas?
  15. Interesting, I just ordered my replacement card. I did try it on a H81M-E motherboard and it still did not work. I will let you know if my new card works or not, I paid for next day shipping, it should be here in less than 24hrs(Before 10:30AM EDT)
  16. Tried the GPU on my cousins gaming pc, and while the behavior is different, the card still doesn't work, and his R9 270x works great. Bummer, oh well, hope it doesn't take too long to get a replacement
  17. Just tried clearing cmos, as well as switching to my other BIOS(Which I have never used before) and I am seeing the same behavior. I would like to reiterate, the system works fine with my old 670's still. I am fearing my new GPU might be defective I will be able to try the card in a different system later tonight. I guess that will give me my final answer.
  18. The problem happens during post, I don't get to windows.
  19. That looks like the ethernet port light.
  20. I just received my new Gigabyte G1 Gaming 980ti from UPS. I can't get my PC to boot with it. I have tried the native double 8-pins from my PSU, and a molex to 8-pin adapter. I have a XFX 850w pro core edition power supply, it has a sngle +12v rail, so I can't see how amperage is a problem. The 980ti is replacing my 670SLI, which still boots in the PC fine. I am looking for any advice on what to check next. I have also updated the BIOS on my MSI Z77A-GD65 motherboard, but the problem persists. Here is a video of what I am seeing: The PC looks like it restarts when the GPU starts to initalize, the 2 lights come on on the side for a split second, then the pc reboots.
  21. ~ For what purpose? The socket 1150 Xeons are limited to 4 cores, which I already have, and they can't OC, which I have already done.
  22. The only thing I would sell is the GPU's, but they only go for about $100-120 each now. If I went with the CPU upgrade I would give the old parts to my little brother that is still rocking my old Phenom II x4 945. Core count would certainly boost gaming performance if I lack the CPU power to do all of my tasks. I am aware games generally don't benefit from multi-core, but when your CPU is pegged at 100%, more CPU power would improve performance. I am sitting at my desktop at 40% CPU usage, like I said before I am a heavy multitasker. I kee 10+ chrome tabs open at all times, remote desktop sessions, watching HD movies/tv shows, game launchers(League, Steam), Teamspeak, Thunderbird(email), and others.
  23. I already have a quad core at 4.5Ghz, how much more of a balance could I get? The only upgrade worth spending money on would be a core count boost, and Intel locks that to the 2011 socket, and the prices I listed are for the cheapest CPU on the platform that is still an upgrade for me. GTX 670 SLI still performs OK for most games, but chokes on new AAA titles, a 290x or 970 would be a slight boost for a lot of money. Yeah it would be nice to be able to multitask a bit more, and just run games at slightly lower settings, thanks for your input! I have 3 screens and usually run server monitoring tools, and watch media on twitch(bloated flash player) or netflix while playing most games. Thanks for the input I don't stream but I watch twitch often, its annoying to use Live Streamer Plus to pipe the streams into VLC, so resorting to the piggy twitch flash player hogs over 20% CPU. I actually hadn't considered that using a 6-core would allow me to record videos with OBS easier, thanks!
