  1. This is why I make my purchases based on my needs, not my status. this is also the reason I am selling my desktop for a much lower spec lenovo laptop I got for $15:

I built my x99 machine back when I was wrapped up in this idea I needed a fast computer. You don't. I wasted a bunch of money I will never get back.

This is also why I believe 80% of PC upgrades people do both on and off this forum are total and complete Bullshit. Unless your game is running at 5FPS in low settings, you don't NEED new computer hardware, at all. What you have will work and if it doesn't work, it can be made to work. If trying to make it work still doesn't work then and ONLY then, do you have my permission to do a system upgrade.

I have said this before and I will say it again. The most almost any casual PC user will ever need to this day is a Core 2 quad with 8GB of RAM and a 120GB SSD. Any PC with specs higher than these for casual users is a waste of money.

By the way, even i'm not immune to these messages of propaganda. I am going to buy the LTX 2019 VIP tickets. Looking at that purchase from a totally rational standpoint, this is a waste of money.

There is a tough balance between saving and spending your money in the most effective ways you can. Yes, you DO need to use your money for fun, but how much fun exactly? Because the only three things we need are food, water and shelter. Everything beyond this could be examined as a "waste" of money since it's not needed. But I would argue my laptop really isn't a waste of money even if it doesn't fall into these three categories, since I can use it to communicate with people all over the world. something hard to nail down a price on.

We are all consumers. We all have our emotions played with. The important thing for you do to is to make sure you are buying the best product for YOU and nobody else. Make your decision based on facts, and ask yourself if you are being manipulated by the media or corporate propaganda.

I feel like I need more than a 3770 but then I realize that most gains are only within having more cores and not more IPC/GHz and for my workload, it probably wouldn't help much..

also, it's mainly 60-80% CPU, while being 20-30 in just chrome, so it's good enough..

the one thing that I feel like I must upgrade from is my 760, because it pretty much is failing at playing any modern games at higher than 900p lowest at 50fps, or 1080/low/medium at older games. It's failing at playing minecraft/terraria at 4k (out of vram actually, not GPU power) and scrolling sometimes.

@themctipers you are the kind of person who would benifet from better hardware.

Tge vast majority of gamers simply upgrade because they can. Not because they need to.
