I never thought I will request new tab on score doc again
    Yet, here we are... Socket 940, 2x Opteron 285 @ 2,61GHz.
    Cinebench 2003 :

    Cinebench R11.5 :

    Cinebench R15 :

    Cinebench R20 :

@Jumper118 I would also like to point out, that there are no regular Athlon 64s for Socket 940 (like 5600+ or 4000+).
There are only Athlon 64 FX's, but even those are single core only.

agent_x007 got a reaction from VegetableStu in MBR vs GPT
GPT is required for NVMe boot drives and UEFI booting in general (to get Ultra Fast Boot working).
It's also the least problematic option for 3TB+ drives (you can access ~3,5TB max. capacity under standard MBR).

MBR is more compatible and is accessible with any Windows.
If you plan to use XP (32-bit) for what ever reason - it's the way to go.

    Fact checking :

Just so you know, Queen test uses/stresses INT units, not FPUs.
Since FPU = SSE/AVX/etc, this test really doesn't show how far newest CPUs have got.

Spectre/Meltdown comparison on fastest pre-Haswell CPU.
    Microcode used : 0x42D
Windows patch "KB4100347" is installed in both cases.

    X5650 + UD9 :

^1,5V was probably not needed on Vcore, but I pushed 1,5+ on QPI/VTT so...

agent_x007 got a reaction from Hi P in APU vs CPU - Difference?
Because APU has iGPU inside, TDP gets shared between GPU and CPU parts, which may result in lower clock vs. no iGPU unit.

It's probably because of syncing issues.
Since cache works at different frequency, you have to somehow synchronise it to both slower (at idle), and faster (at load), Core Clock.
When sync can't be done, or it's timing is off, you get problems.

    Basicly :
5,2/3,9 = 1.3(3) (so you get one and 1/3 of CPU clock per Cache clock OR 4 CPU cycles per 3 cache ones)
5,2/4,7 = 1,106382978723404... (you get 1 and 1/10 of CPU clock + waiting a tiniest ammount to get a full sync).

At least that's what I think.
I can't test it because Sandy/Ivy class CPUs have UnCore synchronised with Core Clock.

    To anyone interested :
Air cooling is fine, as long as you have fan on the back of the board to cool "CPU package" or back of the socket directly. I don't have it
At 4,5GHz my chip needs at least Vcore = 1,45V, which is WAY too much for my cooling. I will try to do a run later (but throttling probably will steal any perf. it gives me).

PS. @Jumper118 It's not THAT bad... if you live in US : LINK.

Better board, a biut better score for my QX6850
    R15 :

My main issue however is this :

    How does ^that work ?
    20C difference is kinda big.
Also, my CPU at ~1,47V Vcore "eats" around 240W of power on 8-pin EPS (when tested by IBT).
    @Dabombinable @Jumper118
Did you experienced the same issue with yours QX6850s ?
