    Hey Guys,

I think I missed last year but it's hard to put these lists together with 4 boys in grade school. I'm gonna try to do this and keep it updated but we are doing virtual learning this year and I'm working from home. If you see some updates or new deals you want added to the list post them and I'll try me best to update it on the Google Doc. Happy holidays!

Yes I looked at that one as well seems pretty cool and like you stated has more space. My Son currently built an Ncase M1 and I fell in love with the quality of the case so opted to buy it, its on the way as we speak.

It doesn't matter. The CPU consumes under 200 watts, which is under 20A (12v x 20A = 240 watts) ... so no matter which one you end up using, it won't make any difference.

The xps isn't just gonna flat out die on you after a year. But if you want I could give you much cheaper alternatives that will be just as good for your needs and have better battery life as well what you are doing can be done on a lot less of specs.

Canada is different then America. There are somethings you can't buy in Canada that you can buy in the USA, and many things are much cheaper in USA then in Canada. Many people who live close to the border will quite often cross the border to fill up on gas, to buy 4 new tires, to get work done, to buy laptops, to buy smokes and booze. Used to be way back when it was no big deal to cross the border, then Sept 11 happened and they tightened up the border.

In many respects to, small town living is a whole different life style then big city living. St Johns Newfoundland has a population of 110,000 people. Big cities like GTA are multiple millions. Small towns would have one Walmart if your lucky enough to be graced by the Walton family. Source electronics is the usual place for electronics in small towns. Same goes for a Bestbuy, you'd be lucky to be graced by BB to have a store within 40 minutes, but at 110k people, is like a small town with one Waltons, one BB.

You need to remember that you are in a low population area of the country, so prices in stores will differ then say Toronto, Vancouver and big cities.

Also remember that sometimes you can't buy from certain world retailers online. Like Walmart.com for example, you need to use Walmart.ca because there are different items on each websites, different shipping protocols. You can get around that buy getting a forwarding service where Walmart.com will ship to say a PO box located inside the United States and the owner of the store doing PO Boxes will reship to you in Canada which adds more cost.

Newegg.com vs Newegg.ca might be the same.

Back in the day, we'd stand in lineups outside the store at 4am, then it became standing in line at 10pm the previous day. I remember those days well. Its too bad the big electronics stores dont rent out stadiums anymore for sales, online took that over.

You've probably seen the pretty remarkable 4K LED projector build on Matt Perks' DIY Perks channel. The relevant points here are:
the cooling system used was a PC CPU air cooler and fans the cost of materials was only about $200 overall performance was comparable to or better than a commericial $2000 4K projector ... except in regard to brightness, where the DIY projector was held back by using only a 100W LED So, what about a more powerful LED? Perks argues that it's not worth it:
But of course extreme cooling doesn't have to be practical to make for a fun video. In fact it seems it might even be pretty straightforward—just mount the LED on the waterblock of a high-power-dissipation AIO—if it weren't for the extra heat from the LCD rather than the LED. (I suppose you might try blowing air onto the rear of the LCD and/or putting an air-cooled or water-cooled copper "picture-frame" around its edges. Maybe replacing the phone LCD with a much larger LCD from an old 4K laptop could help by reducing the heat per cm2, though I suppose the display area might overwhelm even a large format lens.)

Obviously the video could either be done independently by LTT or as a collaboration if Perks is interested (as @Sharif pretty much suggested previously). DIY Perks has enough subs and views that attracting some of those eyeballs might be of meaningful value to LTT.

The dust in the heatsinks is hard to clean, especially on GPUs. Plus I have cats (one of which likes to sleep right next to the pc, because it's warm I guess).
And I'm lazy af, I just want to open the side panel and blow that shit out. The downside is that you'll have to clean your room after 😅

    So do I lol
I use a small one, very similar to this one:
Very similar result to compressed air, but I'm too lazy to take the pc in the garage to clean in. This is a good alternative, keep in mind that compressed air will always give better results
From experience, it's not powerful enough. It helps, (just make sure to set it to cold air) but it's nowhere near a blower or compressed air.

I think it's important to understand why the static builds up in the first place to know if it's viable for your usage, static usually builds on the hose itself due to the dust particles creating friction inside of the hose, it's the same idea as if you took a plastic ruler and rubbed it against your hair, the main worry is when you get the hose too close to the components causing a discharge which might damage your system, I doubt it's that likely to happen either way but it's not as if the air itself is holding a charge, I don't see any issue with using a VAC as a fan, though the air would be hotter than Room Temperature so you have to keep that in mind.

Sharif reacted to TetraSky in FIguring out trademarks (Help, legal)
Probably wouldn't work because while you can trademark something that already exist for something else, it is usually only if it is completely unrelated to the "same field". IE; movie production, music production, Food business, etc... (Not exactly these specific terms, you enter some legal garble at that point)

The fact that there are movies of the same name and you want to make a youtube channel with that name, you are unlikely to be awarded a trademark for it since it's video content creation which could fall under the same category as movies does.

When it comes to branding, you really should come up with your own unique brand instead. That way when someone search for it on Google or elsewhere, they get YOU and not something completely unrelated. It's all about the SEO these days and using a pre-existing name is just asking for trouble on all sides.

Trademark laws can vary depending on the country so you may be better off consulting a legal expert in your region on the matter.

As an example, here's two trademarks for the word "Linus" that are approved and registered in Canada :
    https://www.ic.gc.ca/app/opic-cipo/trdmrks/srch/viewTrademark?id=1498269&lang=eng&tab=reg&posNum=1&search={"selectField1"%3A"tm"%2C"textField1"%3A"Linus"%2C"category"%3A""%2C"type"%3A""%2C"status"%3A""%2C"viennaField"%3A[]%2C"searchDates"%3A[]%2C"selectMaxDoc"%3A"500"%2C"language"%3A"eng"}&length=25&start=0

One deals in "vehicles" (with specific mentions of "bikes") and the other in medical supplies. They are both allowed to exist because they deal in different things.

Sharif reacted to elpiop in Help with SQL Error in python
In your original statement "DELETE FROM expense_sheet where oid = delete_entry.get()", delete_entry.get() is not evaluated since it is inside of the string. So you would have to concatenate whatever delete_entry.get() evaluates to with the first part of the statement: "DELETE FROM expense_sheet WHERE oid = " + str(delete_entry.get()).

However, like I mentioned, this is vulnerable to SQL injection. Since delete_entry comes from an input box, someone might enter "5; DROP TABLE expense_sheet;" In which case, the SQL statement becomes "DELETE FROM expense_sheet WHERE oid = 5; DROP TABLE expense_sheet;" There goes all your data.

The ? represents where you want to substitute a value into the statement. You pass in values as a tuple (delete_entry.get(),) as the second argument to execute and you can pass in as many as you want (provided you have the same number of "?" placeholders in the statement). In this case, since it is a single value, you need the trailing comma to disambiguate between it being a tuple or an expression.
(delete_entry.get(),) This is a tuple (delete_entry.get()) This is not Basically instead of sending one SQL command to the server (being the pre formatted string you were originally intending to pass in), it will first send the SQL statement template (DELETE FROM expense_sheet WHERE oid =?) to the database and then it will send the parameters and evaluate the statement. As a result, the SQL injection does not occur, even with bad input like above.
