  1. OK then I'll look into that. Thanks for all the help!!
  2. Yup I've looked into that already and went for an i5 4690 instead.
  3. I will only be using 1 GPU (R9 280X), so I guess it's a B mobo for me. Is there anything else different about a H and a B?
  4. Hey there, kind community of LTT! The CPU I'm using is an i5-4690k. I'm going to be using this new build for casual gaming and some school work. For this new rig I'm building, I probably won't be stressing my pc that much so overclocking might not be needed. So what if I run my CPU and GPU ar base clockspeed? Will I be missing out that much? Also, the main problem right now is my motherboard. Apparently H87/H97 or B85 chipset doesn't support overclocking, but then I see some other gaming pc build log using a B85 motherboard. I'm really confused as to the reason for the motherboard choice. Why I am asking this is because getting a Z87/Z97 motherboard is more expensive than an H87 or a B85, and I'm wondering if it's worth spending the extra money on a Z87/Z97 motherboard if I'm not going to be overclocking. Like I said, I'm a casual gamer and I just play for fun, not to have the highest fps or a 4k display. Overclocking seems like an overkill for me. Any help will be appreciated!
  5. Initially, I wanted to use a CX600M for my build. I though that Corsair was a reliable brand and even see Linus himself use it in builds. But then many people commented on my build saying that the CX series is unreliable and "is known to fry up some rigs". So what is a good PSU model or brand? And how should I choose mine? I try going for other brands but I'm simply not familiar with them. If it helps, I went to the CoolerMaster Outervision power supply calculator thingy and it gave me 513W. I'm using an R9 390 and i5-4690K, and this rig is mainly for gaming. Also, what are the most reliable PSU models (not wattage; CX,CS,RM series from Corsair etc.)? If I ever need to build another pc which brand/model should I aim for?
  6. Alright thx for the help man! Really appreciate it.
  7. Hey all! I'm new to the forum so please be gentle!! I have recently started this whole pc building thing and I'm kind of a newbie at this. I'm looking to make a gaming pc and I have already done my research. My budget would be 1500 Singaporean dollars give or take, or about slightly more than 1000 USD. This is what I've come up with so far: Graphic -MSI GTX 970 4GD5T OC - S$539 ‌CPU - Intel i5-4690k - S$359 ‌Motherboard - MSI H97 PC Mate - S$159 ‌Power supply - CX500M - S$99 ‌HDD - Seagate Barracuda 1TB - S$69 ‌SSD - Sandisk SSD 120GB - S$72 ‌RAM - Kingston HyperX Fury (2x4GB) - S$90 Case - Cooler Master NSE-300-KWN1 N300 - S$61 Total - S$1444 Games I'm going to play: CS:GO, LoL, Battlefield 3/4, War Thunder So now I have some specific questions to ask. 1. How is my build like? And any suggestion on how to make the build better? 2. For the RAM, I have seen so many brands and products with so many different types of RAM. Does the product really matter? I picked Hyper X Fury only because the place I'm going to sells that. 3. I will be gaming and most likely be doing my school work on this pc (but not at the same time though, (hence the i5). Whcih version of Windows should I get? 4. Should I be going for the GTX960? I have read many reviews and most said that the GTX970 is worth the extra money, and that the GTX960 won't last very long. 5. Any recommendations for my keyboard and mouse? I'm looking for a keyboard that can be used for gaming and typing as well. My budget is around S$100 for both (not part of the $1500). That should be all for now. Any help would be much appreciated!
