Linustechtips, you must review the updated version of this laptop with 8th gen Intel CPU and the blessed 144Hz screen you asked for in your previous version review!

The 970 is more than capable of running Battlefront. I ran it at max settings at 60 FPS stable.

Nah, you don't need a second Steam account mate. You can use any email, it will just prompt you when you click the inside link to activate the game to your inventory or library in the currently signed-in Steam account. Of course, if the currently-signed in account is not the one you wish to use, then you can just sign out and sign in to that one before going ahead and activating the product.

Swapped the I5 to an I7. Got a decent motherboard (same one I own) Its one of the best motherboards for the features and price. Changed ram to match color scheme.
Manged to fit a 750gb SSD in there if you want the extra storage. And I personally like the look of the H440 is also a fantastic case.

Lol. If you're only playing CS:GO you don't need an expenisve card like the Fury X or GtX 980ti. CS:GO is CPU intensive. You should get an better CPU like the Intel Core i5 4690K/i7 4790K. You can also get an R9 380(X)/390 which will give you more than enough FPS in CS:GO if it's that what you're looking for.

Try to hear for yourself. If you don't notice any difference, there might be non for your hearing.
Sound is very subjective. You should not rely to much on others. Try it out. It probably won't break anything so just test it and see what it does.
If it feels like it is doing nothing I usually proceed to leave things at the default.
Sorry that I had no deliberate answer to your question.

Either it's thermal throttling (slowing down under extreme heat to cause less additional heat) or your running settings which are out of your reach. Are you running the game in 4K? Though the 980 Ti is a 4K GPU, it still cannot handle extreme settings at 4K.

If you could stretch your budget and get the 380, that would be a lot better.

And yea basically things you use often/games you play a lot, you should install on ur SSD.

All you have to do is put the numbers down in the BIOS. But I don't know how to get there so... Google Anyone?

Your i3 will definitely not perform as well as an i5. The i3 only has two cores, whereas an i5 has 4 (all of which can be leveraged for more frames). It should be a no-brainer, the i5 will have a massive performance boost with the extra 2 cores. So, yes, make the switch.

Ling got a reaction from YuutaxRikka in Is i7-6700k any good along with ASUS Maximus VIII Hero?
I'm replying to this thread on my desktop which uses an Intel Core i7 6700K and an ASUS Maximus VIII Hero. I can promise you that this is a very solid combination, though an i7 6700 is good too. The motherboard will have all the features you could dream of: 2-way SLI/CF at 8x, M.2, Z170 chipset, plenty of fan headers, water pump header, fancy lights, DDR4, it's got it all (except wifi). As for RAM, don't go overkill. I run 16 GB at 2666 MHz which is plenty, but you could very easily get away with 8 GB with modern games. Speed shouldn't be a concern either, with the difference between high speeds and low speeds being 1 FPS (within the margin of error) as shown here:

Take a picture of it, upload it here: http://tinypic.com/ then use the "picture" button to link it so we can take a look. It would also be useful for you to give us some more information on CPU and GPU utilisation (keep flicking between task manager and Arma 2), in addition to some temperature information from a program such as Speedfan, CPU-Z or GPU-Z.

Oh yeah, I should mention, that motherboard you picked out is pretty overkill, you'll get along just as well on boards 70% it's price. Such as the Asus z170-Pro or the Asus Z170-A

Skylake uses less power, is more consistent in overclocking, uses a faster chipset and utilises the superior bandwidth of DDR4 (as it brings it to the mainstream). It makes no sense to buy older processes and motherboards now, considering they are the same price (the older stuff can even be more expensive by a few dollars at the store near me).

Ling got a reaction from bennithejman in 5820k Bottlenecking & Performance?
Since you are doing editing and most productivity programs will benefit from having more cores, you are better off with the 5820k. Even though you want to game, the difference between framerates using the two processors is very very small. Especially since upcoming games are being more and more optimized for six-core processors, I'd stick with the 5820k. As far as your question about bottlenecking goes, when it comes to gaming, the graphics card is pretty much always what determines the amount of frames you get. If you want more frames, you go for a better GPU - a higher CPU doesn't make much of a difference (unless you're coming from a very low end chip, which you are not).
